We have visited The Maytime many times. It is set in the picturesque village of Asthall near Burford and has to rate as one of the best dining experiences in the area. The imaginative menu can be taken in their well appointed bar/dining room or outside on their terrace in their attractive gardens with lovely views over the countryside. We have never been disappointed and have had a number of celebratory meals there. We had lunch a couple of days ago and sat outside as the sun was shining. We shared a fish platter which was delightful, varied and well presented. We have always found the staff and management very friendly and welcoming. This is certainly a pub that we are very happy to recommend.

Visited with Family group of 5 for lunch. The staff were very welcoming and showed us to our table. A very nicely decorated dining area giving the feel of a typical Cotswold hostelry. The menu gave a good choice and although today's delivery of Fish had not arrived this was not an issue with us. The staff were all very cheery and attentive and gave excellent service. The food ordered was served in a timely manner and everyone was well pleased with the quality and amount provided. Pleasingly we were not rushed in any way and were able to chat freely. This was probably our fourth visit in last year and felt everything was just that little bit better than on previous occasions.

We are in The Cotswolds for a week, looked this pub up on trip adviser before booking a table. We arrived slightly early but were shown straight to our table having been given a choice of inside or out. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was clean and tidy and well presented. Our order was taken and the food was brought out in a timely manner. The tomato and basil soup and my fish cakes as starters got us off to a good start. Both had Roast chicken as our main and it was delicious. Desserts were both good as well. My wife is gluten free and they cater for that. Well recommended.

Been to the Cotswolds many, many times and sampled many places like this, but The Maytime Inn was head and shoulders above all of them. Did not stay in the rooms but managed to get a sneak peek at one and it looked beautiful. Bar and restaurant was beautiful. Food was great, decent portions, hot with HOT PLATES (well done!!!). Very tasty and a good menu. Got a great pint as well. They have 140 gins as well, which the wife was pleased about. Tom the barman was the Gin expert and recommended a good selection. All of the staff were very pleasant, efficient and professional. We went on a Monday evening with no booking and it was quiet, but I think on a Fri/Say/Sun it would be heaving. All in all, what a wonderful place. Will 100% be going back and will be staying in one of their rooms.

Can’t complain about our stay here as everything was very well done.we had picked here as a base for the Cotswolds and Oxford and stayed four days. The accommodation was very good , extremely comfortable and in a delightful, quiet setting that we loved. Coupled to this the staff and manager were excellent and made you feel welcome and wanted. Would recommend The Maytime Inn to all fellow travellers.

Virtually faultless... any issues would be matters of personal taste, and e.g. as a result of the small ice cream portions, though the phenomenal and generous breakfast more than made up for that. Fantastic location (very peaceful), lovely building, excellent rooms and decor / attention to detail.... very comfortable bed, and even pillows. Great food. Fantastic service, and made to feel welcome. What more can I say. Loved it.

My husband and I thought that we were staying in Burford and this hotel is not in Burford, so you should know that first. It is about a 3 mile drive from town. If you are OK with that, then this is a wonderful place to stay. It’s really beautiful. We stayed in “The Boot Room”. It is quite tight and you are right on the road but because you’re out in the country, there aren’t any cars driving by. The bathroom is very nice and practically the same size as the room. Breakfast is included and is absolutely delicious! Be warned that even if you order a hot meal (which you should because they’re so good), they will still bring you a lovely tray with yogurt and fruit, smoothies and pastries. You will not leave hungry! The staff was really friendly and welcoming. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night, and it was delicious as well. They have so many gins to try and wonderful beer. It’s a great place.

Have eaten here last year but not stayed. Stayed for two nights for a wedding locally and overall it was very good indeed. We stayed in the "Tack Room" which was very comfortable with a lovely bathroom but quite "snug." Lovely gardens with red kites circling overhead. Beautiful location. Food was excellent - especially the breakfasts. Service was exceptional and very welcoming - we will be back !!!

Extremely welcoming ! Room beautiful: food absolutely exceptional: beer amazing. What more could you want ? Someone has spent a lot of money, but more importantly a lot of time getting this wonderful old coaching inn modern and up-to-date without spoiling the great atmosphere in this pub. The staff were efficient, friendly, helpful and laid-back in the best way to make you feel thoroughly at home. The bed was really comfortable and the en-suite impeccable. Being vegetarian all my life, food is still obviously important and the range of vegetarian meals were brilliant, with the aubergine dish being exceptional ! Beautiful village also made this trip for my partner and myself memorable and would love to come back !

Really nice little hotel nestled in a lovely, out of the way, village with plenty of parking and a really nice courtyard / garden area which will be super in summer. Whenever that might be?? Restaurant has a limited menu but should suit most tastes. We loved the fish shared platter on our first night, so ordered it again on the second. Much to our disappointment, they had “changed the menu” and while they still had this dish, they’d taken away the two serves of pate but kept the price the same. I’d even asked them to lightly toast the bread just for the pate, and they didn’t tell me I wasn’t going to get any!! We also found the service on the second evening abrupt to say the least. We were given a table next to some elderly people who were talking loudly, so we asked to be moved, and even although there were 2 tables in the lower area and half a dozen near the (empty) bar we were told they were all booked and we couldn’t move. Five minutes later we said if they couldn’t move us - we’d leave, and so they gave us a choice of tables by the bar. The other thing I find somewhat baffling is the huge markup on wine. How do they justify £35 for a bottle which costs them £10?? To sum up : Nice accommodation but manager / customer relations need improvement.
