The room we stayed in was not clean, the bedsheets hat stains on it and the spiders were everywhere. The bathroom had moldy walls and the floor was always wet because of the drains. I wouldn't recommend staining there. The workers were nice.

The price is good. Location good for public transport but ground floor rooms have damp issues. Musty smell. I expect upstairs rooms, especially lthose looking away from main street are much better so best try asking for those rooms if you need a lower cost hotel.

Basic good value hotel.

Tiny twin room right at the top of the hotel. No lift. Comfy bed & good shower. Close to Zugló railway station, so very convenient. Excellent value for money.

5 night stay was rough. We arrived from the airport and found our way to the hotel. Upon checking in, we received our key from the woman behind the counter and she showed us to our room in a separate building on the property. Entering the room, we noticed the obvious insect problem. There were ants crawling near our bed and all over the floor along with a spider on the wall. We went to check out the bathroom, and noticed mold in the corner of the wall and on the ceiling which caused a strong odor. The bathtub was small and it was impossible to shower in because of the location of the shower head. We approached the front desk about laundry needs and vending machines and were informed that they did not have them as advertised. Nor do they offer a transportation shuttle to airport as advertised. Pros: Near public transportation. Felt safe walking around and at the property. Near a few decent places to eat. The twin beds were comfortable and the blankets were decent. Cons: We found ants, spiders, beetles, and gnats in our room. Woke up to spiders crawling on the back of our necks. Mold. Requesting more towels was difficult. The pillows were flat. The tub is not suitable for standing, sitting, and showering. Listed under amenities on the website the following was found to be untrue: NO in room refrigerator, NO on site laundry, rooms are NOT soundproof, NO vending machine, NO daily housekeeping in the rooms, and NO shuttle assistance as advertised.

Budget Friendly Stay with Some Drawbacks

Richter Pansion is a bit dated, with older furnishings and decor, but it's relatively inexpensive and offers good value for those on a budget. The lack of air conditioning can be uncomfortable during warmer months. On the plus side, the room had a cold fridge freezer, which was convenient for keeping drinks and snacks chilled. The rooms were clean, and the staff were great—friendly and always ready to help. If you're looking for a no-frills, affordable stay and can overlook the outdated appearance, it is a decent option.

Solid enough place, some of the older negative reviews are probably somewhat out of date. Nice staff, no separation between shower and the rest of the washroom so plan accordingly for the wetness. Expedia should take off the “laundry available” as they do not have any such thing unfortunately

Recommended for a stay in Budapest

A pension, not really a hotel as some sites call it. But what a nice place to stay, a sweet very trad older gent and his wife run it. Close to bus and tram, easy access to & from train station. Lovely bath with fast instant very hot water - excellent. Secure, quiet and respectful vibes.

Hotel was good, staff were friendly. We booked a double bed under special requests but we didn't get one. After asking we were told all rooms were booked so we didn't receive one, just two single beds pushed together . Expedia also stated that they serve breakfast but when we asked we were told that breakfast wasn't served period.

Location was okay... l had booked a classic double room, upon arrival we were given a basic room with two single beds. We went back to reception and asked for another room. The room we were given had not been cleaned and the bedding was soiled. However we were so tired at this point, we spent one night in this room. Fortunately upon our request we were given a more appropriate room in the morning.

The hotel was. Eautiful from the outside and the main desk/sitting area was quaint. Unfortunately, the room was an attic , the wi-fi didnt reach, and there were no laundry units.

Be sure to get room with A/C in summer

The weather was hot (August 20-30). No air conditioning until the toilet broke then got moved to room with air. Front desk people are nice. Hotel is clean. Price was cheap.

Deceiving

Positives: Clean and bed was comfortable. Negatives: The room was small and really hot even with a standing fan. There was no fridge (even though it said it had one) and the WiFi didn't work at all. We asked at reception but the staff said no room has a fridge and they couldn't fix the WiFi. Also the staff lacked with English so we had to use Google Translate to communicate. The shower barely reached the holder and misses the bath completely and soaks the toilet. (Also no shower curtain)
