Novotel Budapest Danube4.0 out of 5.0

I stayed for 7 nights at the hotel. My sister and I were on a vacation to Budapest. The hotel is close to Batthyany Tér tram and metro lines. It connects with M2 metro line and it is just two hop away from the city center on M2. My room was good, it was cleaned regularly and tea replenished. The breakfast spread is good with plenty of options for vegetarians too. I had done a web check in so it made my life easy at the arrival. I just had to sign the forms and got the key after showing my passport. If I ever go back to Budapest, I will stay here again.
Stayed here as a family of 4. Ideal location, private car park, the hotel has excellent views and staff were very friendly. The only downside was that it was roasting hot overnight so had to have the window open. The sauna was very nice but the gym is in desperate need of refurb!
The hotel is in a superb location. Very close to all public transport (tram, bus and metro) stops. There was a huge variety to chose from in breakfast and at good quality. All personnel did their best to assist us and their level of English was above "acceptable". The important thing is that they did their best and would not give up until they made sure that they have given you the proper reply to your question. No need to book the 24/48 hr hop on/hop off service that the hotel works with. The bus will get stuck in the traffic at some point and will probably delay. Also, their intervals were not very suitable (at least in end-October when we visited) and their fleet is not the newest in the city.
Online check-in was possible 2 days before arrival. Worked seamlessly via the mobile device. The location of this hotel is superb. Walking distance from most of the attractions in Buda. There's free parking during weekends along the road but private parking in front of the hotel is charged. Rooms were the normal Novotel standard although it did feel a bit worn out. Not a big fan of the separate toilet and bath arrangements. I prefer the toilet to house the bath along with the toilet. The major downside was the miniature computer style LCD screen as the main tv of the room. Sleep quality was excellent and the rooms are Very Well Noise Insulated. Quality of the room is mediocre. Overall had a decent stay this property however there is scope for improvement both in the hard and soft products of the offering. Deducting two stars namely for the odd toilet and bath arrangement and the absolute joke of a TV!
Group of friends chose this hotel on a weekend break to Budapest. Everyone was happy with the choice. The rooms are comfortable and whilst not huge, perfectly adequate, comfortable and clean. It is well situated for visiting the City. The hotel is well situated, right on the river with superb views over to the Parliament building from some of the restaurant/bar tables. Good staff and excellent breakfast and represented excellent value for money. Recommended
The first thing I noticed was the number of security cameras in the hall, at least six or seven, then another 5-6 in the adjoining restaurant. Then, despite the fact that the elevators worked only by using a key card, there was a security camera placed in every four meters on the guest floor as well. They seem to watch every step you make in the building. Not too polite, I would say. Certainly it has some privacy concerns. They seem to spend a lot of money on paranoidly ovedone, "orwellian" security, yet , in the room I stayed the carped was rather worn-out and pretty dirty, the couch detto, the old curtains were also in need of changing, also, there was an unpleasant smell around the toilet bowl coming from either the drains, or caused by insufficient anti-bacterial cleaning of the bowl itself. The smell also spread to the room, but it was not possible to open the window entirely on the 6th floor (overdone security, again), so it took a while until it was gone. I would kindly suggest to use some air-refreshener sprays in the corridors, and maybe placing some flowers in every four meters instead of the security cameras, so it doesnt have such unfriendly feel.
Everything good about this hotel, but too hot in the room. Breakfast good, bar good, friendly workers and what a view for Parliament! Station very close by as is a supermarket. Location excellent away from the hustle & bustle of Pest. Would have been 5 stars if not for room temperature.
I had a river view room with amazing views as the hotel is opposite the Hungarian Parliament on the bank of the Danube on the Buda side The area is quiet...there are a few bars and restaurants...i recommend Trofea Grill (all inclusive food and alcohol for 17 euro!) and Mandragora (fine dining) The hotel is inbetween Margaret bridge and the Chain bridge so within walking distance of the Buda Castle area/Fishermans Bastion and Matthius church...well recommended!!...you can get a lift up in the funicular for €7... Shoes on the Danube and St Stephens Brasilica also can be reached on foot however trams and bus stops are outside hotel with metro close by also A night time danube cruise is a must!...was fantastic...and we did a folklore show with 3 course dinner and wine... i arranged my excursions with VIATOR but the hotel can arrange these on arrival Hotel staff all friendly and speak English and make you welcome... the TORLEY bottles of rose sparkling wine is amazing value at €15 approx. The bar/lounge is lovely and so is the food and good value. Bath towels (and TVs) could be bigger but nice to have speakers in the bathroom for music to be played!..not much wardrobe space and no mirror above dressing table (a need for some) but overall room was lovely and bed comfortable Fantastic stay but next time I think I would rather be on the Pest side facing Buda Castle area to be nearer more pubs and restaurants and shops
I like the Accor brand when traveling in Europe, and generally find Novotels very comfortable and enjoyable properties. This location is genuinely outstanding, with the spectacular Parliament (one of the truly great buildings of the world) directly across the Danube. Day or night, fabulous views are to be had! Public transportation is just steps away from the hotel, another plus . . . It was the hotel itself I found to be average; nothing more. The staff was mixed; some were very helpful and extremely friendly, while others seemed uninterested in assisting when I asked for something . . . The room was average; nothing to please the senses . . . The wifi was very spotty/weak . . . The breakfast was good, not great . . . The fitness area was extremely small and underwhelming . . . This Novotel is all about location.
Stay 4 nights at this hotel. Hotel is located along Danube river where one can get a beautiful view of the Budapest parliament from outside the hotel. Hotel is also located within walking distance (5mins) to the metro station. Room is small but nice and clean. Negative point being toilet floor would alway get wet after shower as the shower screen is half covered. The best thing about the hotel is the staff. The staff are welcoming, friendly, kind and helpful throughout our stay and leave a lasting impression on us. The breakfast provided at the hotel was also great. Overall, the hotel is great due to the service of the staff and the location.
