I thought this hotel had many positives for a weekend break. -lovely lobby area with bar/restaurant which were all well used -bright and spacious room -comfortable bed -very friendly and helpful staff with excellent language skills -very good transport links (bus and metro on doorstep) This is a budget hotel, but a few small things could make a big difference: -hand soap and a hand towel -hairdryers with power to actually dry hair -sockets near to bed for convenience charging phone overnight
What do you want from overnight stay . Clean comfortable, basic bar and restaurant. Good value . Then this will suit you. If you want frills go elsewhere and pay for it. Reasonably positioned , can get anywhere in 10 mins of Metro travel.
Great hotel, very close to the center, near the metro and 5 mins from city center, clean, good breakfast and great service The staff was very nice and help with any questions we asked, Provided additional towel for the bashes cheap and deserved
I cannot understand some of the negative comments about this hotel. I spent two nights there in January 2018 and found all aspects of the hotel to be fine, the room was comfortable and staff very helpful. There are a number of places to eat close to the hotel if only you are prepared to search around. The metro is two minutes away and for 350 Forins approx. £1 you can travel into the center within 10 mins. (free if you are over 65 just show your passport) and there is much to do and see within walking distance around Hero Square. I am will be returning to Budapest shortly for further dental treatment and look forward to using Ibis Hero Square again.
Hotel very hot and basic breakfast you need to put dirty dishes on shelf. Stayed over new year. Had to pay 7euro a day to have kettle in room. This is a poor quality hotel compared to others in the chain Pullman is far superior. We did not have hand towels.
Accessible easily on the public transport links and a few mins walk from Heroes Square Ibis are a good budget chain and you know what you are getting, clean and basic with no added frills but I am here sightseeing so I dont want to spend endless amounts of time in a hotel room. The room has what I need a comfy bed, towels, hot water and toiletries, there is a TV but unless you speak Hungarian or want to watch rolling news then there isn't much point having it. The rooms are quiet the staff friendly I don't bother with breakfast as you can eat out for a lot less that hotel prices and soak up atmosphere of being in Budapest
We stayed there only for one night during our 7 day tour of Europe. The hotel is medium size with a bit small reception area but quite a big dining area next to the reception. The room was a bit small but pleasant and comfortable. The plus point for our stay here is that the Heroes Square is only 400m or 5 min walk from the hotel and we managed to take few good photos and selfies right after check-in. There is also a medium size supermarket located near to the hotel about 200m or 3 min walk. The Metro station is located about 400m or 5 min from the hotel. The wifi reception was good and the buffet breakfast was also tasty. Overall, it was a pleasant stay for both of us and would recommend if you are here in Budapest for a few days stopover.
The positives: I found the breakfast good value for money (if you are able to get the “magnifique breakfast” package). Altogether the front desk staff were really friendly and helpful all along, both in pre-arrival correspondence and on site. The location of the hotel is very convenient and central. The negatives. Don’t go for the “Sweet” rooms on the (renovated) first floor of the hotel. It costs extra and is not worth it. Since it is a lower level, there is a lot of noise from the road and the rooms have been re-done on the cheap, in standard, minimalist “Ibis Styles” fashion (that blue brand is one category below the standard red Ibis one). So minimalist is the new room style that the writing desk is hardly larger than a big eating tray. No cupboard, just an open enclave with a rail and a few hangers. No drawers. Minuscule bathroom. Almost feels like the purpose of the renovation was to reduce the unit room size and cram in more rooms onto the floor. And save on furniture. My (renovated) room reeked of cigarette smoke when I checked in (this is supposed to be an all non-smoking hotel with a penalty of €100 advertised for smoking in the rooms). In all fairness, the receptionist showed me several other rooms to choose from, until we found one that was satisfactory in every respect. I went for the standard floor upstairs. The classic (older) Ibis rooms there are roomier, quieter and have decent furniture.
I arrived to the hotel in the evening, earlier than I expected and I had a good welcome by David, the front desk clerk. I was a fast check in and I was given a free drink voucher that I exchanged for a good glass of wine. My room was quite spacious and cozy and my room and I didn't hear any noise from other rooms. The breakfast was great. There is a variety of items specially the Hungarian breakfast selection. very delicious! The location of the hotel is privileged, a few meters away from Heroes Square, Andrassy boulevard and one metro station. So many museums, shopping, historical and cultural places a few minutes away. Budapest is a spectacular city and this hotel is a great choice if you want to be in Budapest.
The hotel is a bit out of the way but with their transport it's so easy to get anywhere and do anything, the longest we waited was 3min for a train opera house is Amazing the hospital in the rock is a must because of the history. We done the castle that's not a castle massive pick a good pair of walking shoes and a boat trip down the Danube river
