We arrived here to a find the reception was under refurbishment, which is fine but we don't expect to see wires on the floor by the lift, easy trip hazard, also a man blocking the path to the lift on a ladder, where there were no barrier or protection to both the worker and people staying at the hotel. The floor was dirty all around the area being refurbished and the lift, this was the first problem. The second was the attitude of the reception staff. In the morning a guy ordered us a taxi to gellert spa and when we come back an older man was sitting at the front desk. We told him we were short changed by the taxi driver the hotel had ordered us. We then asked him if he knew the company, or the guy that turned up. We wanted to put a complaint in. His simple and blunt response was "no" which was lovely. Rooms basic but clean so pretty much worth it for the price apart from the 2 problems mentioned which really grated on us!
Ibis Heroes Square is under some major construction when I stayed in mid march. The lobby was partially covered and blocked by an on-going remodeling project. Room is relatively small; bathroom showed wear and tear, and a major upgrade is needed soon. Bed is comfortable, and wifi signal is stable. Breakfast was very simple. Not a lot of variety. More hot items should be added. Do note that the hotel is at a prime location. It is 3-minute walk from Heroes square and subway station. Many food options around (see TripAdvisor recommendations). Personally I dined at Regos Restaurant (15-minute walk away), and it was delicious.
Nice hotel. Close to all attractions. Very helpful staff. Clean rooms. Good restaurants nearby. The breakfast buffet was ok and the hotel is under renovations but other than that i would definitely stay here again. Super fast wifi as well ! Basic amenities
Hotel is quite central and located a block away from Heroes Square and the metro station. Very convenient to explore other parts of Budapest. Room was very basic and a little disappointing where it is a bit dated and needs some upgrades. Not much toiletries provided so I had to use my own travel size hair conditioner. Our room was on the top floor and away from the elevator so it was quiet. Size of the room was good in European standard and clean. We tried the hotel buffet once and that was not worth it (save your money and just go to a cafe and buy your own breakfast)! Wifi was strong in the room. Hotel staff was helpful and we stored our luggages with the front desk on the last day after checked out. To be honest, I would rather choose another hotel to stay if I visit Budapest again as the room was too basic and kind of old.
If you're looking for "location" and to be in the heart of everything happening in Budapest, then this may not be the best option for you. However, if you are searching for a nice, clean and affordable hotel that is close to the metro then you should consider ibis Budapest Heroes Square as an option. The staff is friendly and helpful and always there to answer your questions. The only downfall I would say is that rooms are not all that sound proof. You hear everything! My friend and I woke up to the sound of ambulance every morning.
We stayed for 4 nights in Ibis Hotel did not know the had construction work so place looked terrible and unwelcoming Breakfast was not to standard for 3 star hotel We have to return on the 8 th of May for 10 days to Budapest will consider to stay again if construction work has been completed L
The pros: The hotel is close to several bus and trolley lines and metro M1. The bed is super-comfy and the shower is good. The cons: There is a lot of traffic noise at night. I had to wait a good 15 minutes to check in because one member of staff was busy with other guests and his colleague wasn't interested in doing anything. It took an hour to get another pillow for the bed (though with an apology). The breakfast was uninspiring, a little odd (asparagus for breakfast?!) and overpriced. The bathroom is small and the toilet in a cramped corner - anyone over about 5'6" will have difficulty. There is extensive renovation work going on, currently affecting the lobby area and the 2nd floor. There's no bar, or it has limited hours during the refurb, and you have to go to the breakfast room via the car park. However, that hasn't affected my rating. I stay at Ibis hotels frequently. I won't stay at this one when I return to Budapest.
This hotel is the best. Economical, the staff is extremely nice and helpful. They offered another room because of remodeling and noise. The rooms are clean. The location is excellent, bus and underground station are close. I recommend this hotel to every economy traveler.
I wouldn't stay here again. The rooms were ok. But they have some kind of weird nightmare before Christmas statue of a spirt woman hanging off the front of the hotel. The breakfast is terrible. First of all you will be eating in the lobby. Second they are doing construction right next to the food. Third, the food itself is disgusting. Cold. The fruit came from a can. All in all, very disappointing.
Nicely renovated rooms on 1st floor . Great location , good parking conditions . The restaurant was in full renovation, so it looked like the ceiling has fallen - because of this the restaurant was a little bit dirty - but ..we coud understand this . Great value for the money ... Good breakfast , great rooms and average staff.
