Arrived late at night, given keys to rooms and told it was in a building further up the road. We eventually found it was not told that you had to open the gate with room key but eventually worked it out. One of the rooms the bed was unmade, had to go back to reception to ask for sheets, not a good start. Staff were courteous and very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was terrible, ok if you wanted cake, had toast each day as eggs looked like they had been made hours before. Beds were comfortable but no atmosphere at the hotel not a place you wanted to stay. No restaurant at the hotel so meals where had out. Transport system was excellent and no charge on buses and tram for over 65s (EU citizens)
Firstly I would like to say that we did not choose this hotel by choice and it was allocated to us by Cheap Cost Holidays. We arrived on our first evening to be told by the man on reception that he could not find our booking. I showed him the email confirmation that I was provided when I booked over a month ago and he miraculously was able to find it. He informed us that we had a room allocated to us in the building slightly further down the road. As I had previously read many reviews on this hotel I was prepared that this might happen in our case also. The only way I can describe the hotel and room in general is dated. The furniture was old and the linen looked something from the 70s. The pillows were more lump than cushion and the room in general was quite dimly lit. Mindful of the fact that we literally only needed a room for sleeping, bathing and storing our luggage, we made peace with the lack of comforts, and planned for our adventures around Budapest. The bathroom was really strange, the toilet in particular- to flush the toilet you had to turn a tap to fill the cistern and then flush? This might be something other people are familiar with but not something we have experienced before or since this visit. The next morning the same man from the night before on the reception came up to our room and told us we needed to leave immediately as the room had been double booked and we needed to be out of there for the next customers. i was absolutely mortified that we had been told to move and there was no way we could stay in this hotel despite having it booked for 3 nights! The english-hungarian language barrier became difficult and frustrating as he kept showing me a piece of paper with hungarian writing on saying how our booking had been cancelled 2 days before our arrival! Absolutely astonished by the lack of professionalism and rudeness by the staff as we had to leave the premises and found ourselves stranded in a district outside of the main city and a lack of help from the hotel. I couldn't review the breakfast as we were evicted before breakfast had even been served. Please do not book here and waste your time, we found a lovely hotel in the city for £80 for 2 people for 2 nights. A review for this hotel will follow.
Just spent 3 nights at Korona Panzio with my mum and sister. Our room was on the top floor - a large room with 3 comfortable beds....bedding was clean, yet quite degrained to be honest, but no big deal........pillows not what we are used to, quite 'lumpy', but again, no big deal. We had a balcony, which as a smoker, was perfect.......rather than having to traipse all the way downstairs. Bathroom was adequate with piping hot water and a good shower. Towels were clean and soft. Had already read that there were no tea/coffee making facilities, so took our own travel kettle. Fridge in room to keep our 'supplies' cool. Carpets were quite stained in places, but again no big deal...........If we'd paid big bucks, then I may have a bit more to say on these minor issues. Breakfast, served in the hotel's restaurant 2 minutes up the road was OK.......toast, cakes, eggy bread, scrambled eggs, cold meats, tomato, cucumber, cereal - typical eastern european selection. HOWEVER, in my travel experiences, it is the staff who determine whether your stay is one to be recommended or not.........the women at breakfast and the night male receptionist have no customer service skills whatsoever! I don't expect them to be fluent in my language, but I do expect them to be welcoming, polite and helpful in the best way they can..............terrible!!
Room needed refurbishment. Bathroom a bit grubby. No beer in the bar! Restaurant closed except for breakfast ( not much choice and not very appetising). Beds comfy. Two buses into city centre- excellent service.
This hotel as shown above was not where we were put. We were allocated this hovel as part of a cheap package and we were sent to a disgusting annex down the road. Stained mattresses, dirty, yellow duvets and pillows. I cleaned the toilet before I would use it and I refused to use the shower. Dog ends on the 'balcony' No kettle but mysteriously a fridge. There is cheap but clean and there is down right diabolical. You should be ashamed to even offer this as a place for tourists to stay.
Set in a resedential area way out of the city. Not easy to get to from the airport by public transport and even to get to the city it a 2 bus ride. The hotel is dated, stuck in the 80's in its decor. They do a free breakfast whisci a 2 out of 5 . The wi fi is free but it went down on the 2nd day when I really needd it most and since the hotel is isolated the options are not good. Cannot of a single reason for booking this one.
From the internet he sold us the room as a standard room. But we saw that The room did not fit the rules. The room, though, was not the standard room. It's ceiling is very much low. We hit our head many times. There was no window in the room. There was no bathroom in the bathroom. There was not even any soap. The hot water system was out of order. The water suddenly warmed up, suddenly cooled down. Breakfast was very poor, inadequate. There is internet but it is not connecting from the room We are not satisfied at all. Think ten times if you choose this hotel.
This hotel is in the "suburbs" of Buda and about a 30 minute bus journey into Pest. There is a bus stop right outside the front door and public transport (buses, trams and metro) were fantastic all over the city. The area was quaint ie leafy and overgrown, pavements could probably done with attention but that's council and i expect is the same as any other country!!! Was quite happy walking around and waiting for buses in the vicinity. The receptionists were friendly, answered our questions and could speak English. The room was very tired, stained carpet, overused bedlinen, grouting in bathroom could have done with a little attention but it was clean, relatively comfortable therefore ok. We didn't use the other facilities in the room (fridge, TV) but they looked a little old too! The breakfast room was in a separate building next door but one: a 2 minute walk. Basic continental which suits me fine, although there were fried and scrambled eggs all 3 mornings everything was fresh. They let you get on with it yourself but when we needed anything we shouted in the kitchen and they sorted. Value hotel but you I did expect a little more.
This small hotel is out of the city but is served by excellent bus and tram services which get you into the centre in about 30 mins. It was probably good in the past but is now looking tired. Good points - inexpensive, nice location in the suburbs, very clean, free high speed wifi / internet, small en suite shower and toilet, loads of hot water, helpful friendly staff, bar and (large flat screen) tv lounge area. There were TVs in each room but older CRT models. Not so good points, - dated in need of some redecoration, worn carpets in room, no food in the evening (although excellent pizza delivery service nearby which the staff arranged for us), basic breakfast served in another Korona hotel nearby. Don't get me wrong, for less than £40 per room per night including breakfast it was not awful, but next time I think I will spend a bit more to get better quality.
First night and from the photos looked fine, expected it to be a little dated. When we arrived the first person we were greeted by was lovely and thought this will be a pleasant place. But when we got to the room the fridge clearly hadn't been cleaned as food had been left. Open salmon! Meat. Main light in the bedroom didn't work, the tv didn't work. So we asked the staff who told us the fridge would be cleaned. Only to come back to find it hadn't been touched! Disappointed and wouldn't rush back. But just two more nights to face :S
