I was very satisfied with my stay at the Carlton Budapest. I was a little worried before I arrived because the price was much less than all the other hotels around the Chain Bridge. I have to say that the location is ideal for sightseeing and restaurants. We could walk to all the major attractions in Budapest and there were plenty of restaurants close by. The breakfast was very good and the staff in the breakfast area and front desk were more than helpful. I have a nut allergy and they brought me a big plate of pastries one morning that they assured me were totally nut free. There is a great restaurant called Pater Marcus just a couple of doors down the street from the hotel. The prices were very reasonable for large portions of food and great prices on glasses of house wine. We were there for several days before our river cruise. Another plus for location since we were able to walk across the bridge and board the riverboat without incurring any taxi fees.
I stayed in this hotel during my short holiday in Budapest. Although the hotel is not modern, the room was comfortable and the breakfast was very good: a lot of choices for the breakfast and very good food. The location is perfect for visiting Buda.
Specially a young receptionist named Richard.beyond any limit he tried to serve and help. He speaks also very good Spanish so is very easy for spanish mother .tongue tourists Breakfast was tasty. And the hotel has a great location Minutes by foot to main attractions.
This hotel is in a good location. It’s just a few yards from the chain bridge and a bus stop with buses that take you to the heart of Budapest. It’s within walking distance of restaurants. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was nice. I was in Budapest for the marathon so on the morning of the marathon I asked a member of staff to warm up some porridge I had bought from England and they done it without any problem.
I visited Budapest before Chrismas în order to enjoy the festive atmosphere and the Chrismas fairs. The city was a very pleasant surprize for me, with many places worth to visit. A night cruise on the Danube is a must!
Very nice Hotel, we spent a lovely week. Very colse to the city center. It worth a stay. I’m sure we’ll come back again. The breakfast was good and the staff was very kind and qualified, and with good suggestions.
The hotel is close, can say, walking distance to ''all'' famous attractions in Budapest. The Xmas Market is 15 min easy walking distance. They have own garage with aproximatelly15 places. Breakfast is very good, good choices. If you will come by car be careful, you can turn to the tinny street directed to the garage from both sides of the main street. Room was big enough, all good. Nothing bad nothing spectacular. The room, on the 7th floor, was with a nice view to the Danube.Staff was very helpful to explain most important information about our visit to Budapest. Also, very good value for money.
I last stayed here in 2006 so, when the opportunity arose to stay here again, I took it. First off, then and now, the hotel advertises itself as 4 stars. Now, that might be 4 stars in Hungary, but it’s nowhere near 4 star standard as expected further west. It has no restaurant, for example, even though it advertises room service. It has no gym or other facilities that would be expected of a 4 star hotel. Our room was small and basic. The bathroom, although very clean, was tiny. You could not have two people in there at once. The main room heating system has been switched off centrally. I don’t know if that’s in every room or only in parts of the hotel. You get no explanation about this and it only dawns on you after fruitlessly adjusting the thermostat etc before realising it doesn’t work. I could see a radiator had been installed in the room with all its necessary pipe work hidden behind the curtains. That said, our room was more than adequately heated. We were not cold at any time, even though the temperature outside was -1C. There is a working electronic safe in the room and tea/coffee making facilities, albeit with a pair of paper cups. There is also a fridge containing two, daily, complimentary bottles of water. The room was clean; no problems there. There was also a TV with many international channels. Breakfast was adequate, but no more than that. There was a fairly limited range of foods but almost nothing hot, except some anaemic looking frankfurters and the usual, lukewarm, scrambled egg. This is most definitely not the place to come if you are seeking a grand breakfast. Although it got rather busy one morning, there seemed to be adequate seating facilities and the staff were quite efficient at clearing away and setting up new tables. The hotel has a bar. Hmmm! Have you ever sat in silence in a cold waiting room at a funeral parlour? If so, you’ll love this bar. We were the only people in there and it was cold and silent. You even had to go to the reception to get the staff member’s attention. And, he did not seem happy having to serve drinks to customers. Never mind, there is a fantastic bar exactly opposite the hotel. Much more lively place. We had no problems with this hotel. It was adequate, to say the least and there were no complaints. It is also very well located in the Castle district. I don’t know what I paid for it as it was part of a package, so I hope it wasn’t much as it’s not worth more than a typical 3 star. If I go to Budapest again, I’ll try elsewhere.
Stayed here for 4 nights - good self service breakfast is included. Always being replenished. Hotel clean and tidy. Rooms are clean, good bathroom with shower, water pressure not the best. Tea and coffee in room, plus safe and fridge. WiFi works quite well in room. Water left in fridge each day at no charge. Good value with breakfast. Although up steps from road, there is an external lift if you need it. Can’t fault location for getting around everywhere. From airport to hotel about 7500 forints - about £23. Journey about 30 minutes. Yellow cabs are official - all metered in forints. Would use this hotel if visiting again. Use Pater Marcus restaurant near hotel entrance - underground in cellars - great food, even better prices - large glass of house wine £2.
This was our second stay at the hotel, and we would absolutely stay there again. Just steps away from the Chain Bridge and Buda Castle, I much prefer the "sleepy" side of Buda over the bustle in Pest. You can still walk anywhere in Pest in not much time at all. It's around 25 minutes to walk all the way to the Jewish Quarter. The rooms here are spacious by European standards. The breakfast is very large and diverse. The hotel staff was very accommodating. Free, reliable wifi and printers available in the lobby.
