The hotel is on the fifth floor, but there are two elevators. The people there are really nice. It's only 30 minutes walk from the synagogue. The breakfast is fine, super basic. The rooms are clean, but small beds
I like to stay at the Baross Hotel when I am in Budapest, primarily because the people who work at the hotel are so friendly and helpful. I also like the location of the hotel, as it is right across the street from the Keleti train station and above two metro line stations under the street. Also, the #7 bus which takes me to the Rudas Spa stops in front of the hotel.
few steps from Keleti train station nice big rooms for price.Friendly check in check out.Enviromentally friendly room ok bed.Near mäny restaurants All from Kentucky fried chicken till standing places only hungarian meat restaurant till fancy Rosenstein /hidden in narrow street opposite .Market also in Walking distance.Great value for under 40 euro.
I booked I room for my parents who were traveling and they had to spend a night in Budapest. They were very pleased with Baross. It is a very nice, clean hotel with friendly and helpful staff. They couldn't wish for more. Also it is in a good spot, close to the Keleti Palyaudvar if you have to travel further. They can help you with transport to the airport as well. Overall great experience and they'll be back.
A very nice hotel and the staff was super helpful. The breakfast buffet was good, not super extensive but for the cheap price it was well above our expectations. The hotel is located just by the Keleti Palayudvar Metro station, which makes it easy to go anywhere in the city. If you’d like you could also walk into the city centre in about 30 minutes. I would very much recommend this hotel!
The hotel is right in front of a Metro and a bus station, so the location is really good and also the breakfast. And the hotel provided us with a phone with internet that can be used to move around Budapest. But I stayed on the second floor (the reception is on the 5th floor) and the wifi did not work. Also, the boiler was off when we first arrived, so the room was very cold and there was no hot water.
Good value for money, if you are not very pretentious about furniture and you don't intend to spend too much time in the hotel room. It has a hair dryer, towels, but no toiletries. I stayed in an apartment with 2 rooms and a common kitchen, separate bathrooms. Quiet, tidy, great personnel (English speakers) and good breakfast, fruit included. Great tip for parking from one of the staff member: Arena Plaza Mall nearby, parked there for free for 5 days. This really saved my trip, as parking in this area is a bit of a challenge or just expensive.
This hotel was more like a hostel – run down, noisy and seriously in need of a refurb. Pros: >> Across the road from the train station - convenient if you have an early morning train to catch. >> Nice staff – friendly + welcoming but no follow through. By that I mean we asked for extra bedding as we didn’t have enough in our room but no one followed up or provided any – we asked more than once. >> Really large room with 4 single beds (and we were two people travelling together and requiring twin beds). >> Had a small kitchenette with a little fridge, microwave, hotplate, cutlery and plates in it. Not sure if the microwave or hotplate worked as we didn’t try them but the fridge worked fine. >> The room we had (512) had a dining table and chairs which was good. >> Hairdryer available to use in room. >> WiFi was ok. >> Curtains blocked out the light fairly well. >> Good buffet breakfast offering. Cons: >> No lift past 5th floor so if you have heavy luggage, kids or any mobility issues, ask for a room on the 5th floor or lower. >> The room was VERY run down (we had room 512 on the 5th floor) – peeling paint, stained tiles and walls, non-functioning power points, doors that don’t open properly, shower pipes that get dangerously hot when you shower, shower screen that doesn’t open and close properly. >> Mouldy, smelly drains in the bathroom. >> Hotel is built around an open courtyard so the noise travels a lot from room to room and floor to floor. When we stayed there were lots of backpackers and 20 somethings playing music, going back and forth between rooms and talking loudly into the wee hours. Not a hotel to choose if you’re after a good night’s sleep or a quiet location. >> Awful beds – like sleeping on springs – really, really uncomfortable! We doubled the mattresses and still ended up putting some of our thicker clothes on top of our mattresses for extra padding. Overall we were really disappointed. I’ve got no worries staying in a hostel if that’s what I’m expecting but my mid 60s mum was pretty surprised and we were expecting a cleaner, more comfortable hotel. And FYI - I’m late 30s and have travelled and backpacked a lot so I’m not a fussy person – a room with a decent bed and a little bit of quiet (even if I need ear plugs) is ok with me, but this hotel either needs some renovating or to market itself as a hostel and not a hotel. I wouldn’t stay again and wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
This hotel is right next to the train station, so that's perfect if you are using a train. The hotel is very clean, the bathroom in our room was brand new and that was amazing. There were a lot of choices for breakfast and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in the city for a city break.
Stayed here for one night after arriving from Vienna and before departing Budapest. Amazing location opposite the train station. Very friendly and helpful staff. We were greeted by a very delightful staff member at the reception. Rooms are quiet despite being on the Main Street and has all the essentials you need for a short stay! And to top everything off, a continental buffet breakfast was included. Would recommend !
