We stayed in this hotel for a week. It is reasonably well located. Would have been good to be closer to the river but the area of the hotel has some cool restaurants and bars that we wouldn't have found if we hadn't had to walk past to get to many of the things we wanted to see and do. Staff were friendly and reception is open 24 hours. However our sleep was disrupted every night by the sound of other guests and construction. We've stayed in caravan parks that would have asked guests to be quiet or leave if they were making as much noise at midnight as some of guests at this hotel. The breakfast room is too small. The hotel staff don't want you to take food back to your room but on 4 days from 7 there were no seats available when we went for the pre-paid breakfast. Also, the room had a fridge which didn't work. We mentioned this to staff several times but it was never fixed, nor did they indicate they had done anything about it. On the whole a disappointing experience - we won't be back.
We had a good experience. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. Breakfast is good. The hotel is located next to a big station which is very convienent. The city center is at walking distance.
The staff were lovely and spoke very good English. The rooms were cosy, clean and wifi was great. Although, one thing we felt was missing in the rooms was a kettle as we like having a hot drink in the evening. Not a big deal but it would have been nice. Also, the walls are fairly thin and you can hear other guests in the morning on their way to breakfast. It didn’t really bother us though as we just fell back asleep. The hotel is right next to the metro which gets you into the centre of the city very easily (otherwise it is about a 20 to 30 minute walk). The breakfast was fairly basic but good. The main thing that appealed to us was the free safe and free luggage room to store our luggage on our last day. Mid-way through our stay they introduced a travel buddy phone into our rooms. It was a phone that you could take around Budapest that had some interesting travel guides on. We had already done our research and bought travel books with us, but this would be very handy for other guests! The main benefit of the phone to us was being able to call Hungarian numbers. One night we ordered Indian takeaway for collection and we were delighted we could call and order in advance!
Transiting Budapest for an overnight before heading to Balatonfured for a conference, I stayed at the Baross City Hotel for a night. Not only did they arrange my transportation from the airport, I slept well, and the breakfast in the morning was reasonable even for a vegan. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone.
Room, bath and Breakfast standard. But the hotel itself is in an old, fancy building. Very friendly staff. The room are cleaned every day, very often change linen and towels. If you go to the pool , then you have another towel. There is a service of electronic guide.
Even though we had arrived earlier than the foreseen checkin time we were allowed in and even received a complimentary bottle of champagne being a special guest (every day there is one special guest as far as I understood). The stuff was very friendly and helpful and they were really trying to do their best - and you know what - this is what matters and makes your stay more comfortable even if the hotel itself is not perfect. Regarding the hotel itself: it is a nice building directly at metro station very close to central trian station. A high and historic house at the street and still very quiet with inner yard. What should be improved however and this is why I gave not all stars: 1) they should improve their doors - every time when someone leaves or enters the near room you hear it better than you'd like it it to. It is not expensive to add something to reduce noise. As of now it is really very annoying and made my sleep very uncomfortable. 2) They should also increase the size of their breakfast amenity: if you arrive at prime time at around 9 am you will most probably need to queue for a table - this is not something what every guest dislikes. Over all - thanks to the effors of the stuff I cannot help but still giving 4 of 5 points - but they should read my cricits :)
Nice hotel at affordable price! Staff is very nice and helpful, and all the areas are very clean. Our room was nice even if it wasn't really huge - but the bathroom was quite big, plus it had a kitchen and a living room shared with another room, some kind of a small apartment, perfect for a group of friends! The location is good too, right above the metro station and connected to different areas of the city with lots of bus lines. Would come back
Had a nice 2-night stay here. The location across from the train station is fantastic. The room itself was comfortable. I enjoyed the decor of the bathroom and it was nice to have a tub. They recommended a great restaurant for dinner. Budapest was a lovely city to visit. Visited the parliament and the great synagogue and walked along the Danube. The breakfast was very nice also. All in all a very pleasant stay with no complaints.
One of the Worst hotel stays ever! The hotel is very Close to the train station, which is helpful if you arrive by train. The area around the hotel and the station is old, dirty and feels unsafe/dangerous. On arrival to the hotel we were greeted by a very rude and unfriendly security man, that was nearly shouting for no reason. Reception lady was nice and helpful and kept our baggage in a locked room until the check -in time. The building itself is old and dirty, seems like it's about to fall anytime. The room was big but also old and dirty. The carpets were disgusting and the Bathroom was also dirty. The room door did not closed properly. The shower head was broken (leading to nearly no water coming out of it, making it almost impossible to have a shower) and, even though we reported it straight away to the reception lady, nothing was done about it. Breakfast was decent, not exceptional. There was dirty cutlery next to clean ones. I will definitely not come back to this hotel and advise everyone to STAY AWAY from it. It's cheap but not worth it. I would rather pay a bit more but have a decent place to sleep and shower.
As we went by train to Budapest, this hotel was a good choice. Very friendly staff. Unfortionally there was less capacity at breakfast at 7 and 9 o' clock. Guests had to wait for a free table. We have stayed 3 nights not including weekend. But all in all we were confident .
