Hotel Acacia4.0 out of 5.0

Stayed here for 3 nights over a weekend. Location is fantastic - everything is nearby including local restaurants (as opposed to the touristy ones). Easy cut through to main square and everything within walking distance. Room on 2nd floor overlooking entrance to hotel. Noise from outside was virtually non-existent when sleeping. Beds were great. Shower over bath with two separate basins in a large bathroom. Toilet was separate room (seemed a waste of space). Reception was helpful and made suggestions of local areas when asked. Didn't try breakfast as we always do local eats as opposed to all in hotel.
Booked this hotel mainly due to location in centre and private car park as we drove over from UK. Found it OK but they seem to hold their “room not ready until 3.00pm” rule rigidly (not even a “we’ll check for you”). Not a big issue as we were only dumping cases and heading straight out. Got lost trying to find car-park as all the roads were closing (the streets turn to pedestrian only one day a month or something) so sat-nav went into melt down with all the diversions. Ended up driving round in a huge loop twice before we found it (about 80m behind us where we’d stopped outside hotel.....in hindsight I’d have reversed back in the quiet one-way street......). It’s a gated and secure car park with pedestrian entrance to rear lobby of hotel with €15/night charge rate. Hotel is nice, modern and clean. Thought it bit odd you have to walk through narrow bar with cases (especially as there is a lovely seating area with piano and sofa at rear of hotel where bar would be perfect). Room was fine, quiet and overlooked small cobbled street at rear with a couple of bars but no noise during our stay. Shower wanted to flood the bathroom every time we used it. The glass screen doesn’t seal against the bath along bottom. It was baking hot in there so we turned the electric heater off. Tea and coffee rations a bit stingy (one tea bag....) and no milk or whitener provided. We didn’t have the hotel breakfast but looked good and reasonable value but we just prefer to try local places on our weekend breaks. The parrot in reception is friendly and likes a fuss if it’s out of its cage, do say hello! I’d stay here again if in Bruges for same reasons I first chose it. Price was reasonable too I thought. Only couple of minutes walk to main square from hotel.
Hotel Acacia is in a great location, close the main square, central for all of Bruge, staff very friendly and helpful, excellent room size, comfortable bed, could not fault any of the facilities or staff at the hotel. The canal boat trip is a must. The only disappointment was having to pay to visit any museum.
Would fully recommend this hotel, the location is great , right in the Centre and the service was very good. Breakfast was good with a nice selection of hot and cold choices. Room was really nice with a balcony and a big bed and nice bathroom with plenty of nice quality toiletries supplied. Check in is not until 3pm which is a little late considering check out is 11am. But all in all I would recommend and I would return.
Stayed here for 3 night weekend break, Great location, only 2 min walk from central square. The room was very big, which is a big bonus when 2 guys sharing a room for 3 nigts. The hotel is quiet, does offer a bar service and breakfast, but so many options within 3 min walking. i would higly recommed for a break away.
Stayed here for the second time on night of 27 October 17. Great accommodation. Great breakfast. Very helpful and friendly staff. This hotel never puts a foot wrong. Can't recommend highly enough. Fantastic location just a couple of minutes from the main square. Secure car park. What else does anyone want? If you want a really good hotel, in the centre of Bruges, This is the place to go. I'd recomend it to anyone.
Stayed with friends on a short trip to Bruges. What a find from the lottery of "let's find a nice hotel online" gamble. We would thoroughly recommend the Acacia, They have a great location, just around the corner from the square, They have parking, They have a lovely clean well maintained hotel, They have excellent staff, who are friendly and helpful, with a special mention to Fons who makes a great coffee. They also have Coco the African Grey Parrot to greet you in reception. Oh and the breakfast buffet is also very good. We were all very pleased with our stay and will return.
Staying at the Hotel Acacia was a pleasure. From check-in to check-out, everything was great. Location, staff & cleanliness were all great and, of course, Coco the Parrot who resides in the reception area deserves a mention... he’s an entertaining little lad who really enjoys a bit of attention. Only problem was that there was no parking available at the Hotel.
Convenient location on quiet street and 1 min walk from main square. Great looking lobby and parrot, yes. But it felt like the front desk staff did not want to be working there at all. He also suggested us to try cheaper breakfast outside of the hotel, which we found odd. The room was spacious but our non-smoking room smelled of smoke. It was also poorly designed. Imagine this - enter the room and the toilet is on your right. It is in a large room by itself with NO SINK and no cupboard. The extra toilet paper rolls were just placed on the floor. Gross. The bath is on your left in another room. There are 2 sinks next to the bath. How does that work?? The bathtub is installed on top of a platform and is way too high to climb into. The ventilation fans in both the toilet and bathtub rooms did not work. We told the front desk but it was still out of order when we left. The bed was much too soft and our backs ached after sleeping on it. Breakfast tip: go to the nearby HEMA which serves cheap and filling breakfast between 9am-10am.
Very nice hotel in the middle of Bruges so it's easy to get around the city centre. Breakfast was good and the room and bathroom are well maintained and clean. Just be carefull on Sunday, they sometimes shut the roads down around the hotel, so the centre is completely pedestrianised. Nice but it means you can't drive to the hotel until early evening.
