When you can sit on your deck looking out to sea and spot dolphins, then watch kangaroos graze on the grass below you know you’re onto something special. The 180 degree views were truly breathtaking and changed at different times of the day. Location amazing with a short walk to the beach, the gorge walk highly recommended and close to the few shops on the island. Pick an apartment facing the water and you won’t be disappointed.
We enjoyed staying a lot. It is close enough to shops but far enough to be quite. The beach is a 5min walk. It was clean and well equipped. Phone reception is a bit hit and miss if you are not with Telstra.
We stayed in whale watch 40, a superb, spacious 3 bedroom penthouse. The view from the top floor of the North wing is uninterrupted and spectacular. The open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area make for an ideal family area. The main bedroom has its own ensuite, there is second spacious bathroom for other guests. The unit is managed by Discover Stradbroke and close to all the main resturants in the area. Our favourites are Fishing on the point, The Blue Room and French Ease.
Lovely stay with friends in an apartment with a view of the national park. The apartment was spacious, clean and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen. The location is ideal- able to walk to Main Beach, the North Gorge Walk and local shops.
Rather than travel overseas this year, my family wanted to stay somewhere close. We chose a 'Premium Oceanview Apartment' at Whale Watch Ocean Beach Resort. Each apartment at the Resort is individually owned, and unique in its furnishings and style. The size of the apartment was great - 3 bedrooms with large living and kitchen areas - and it was clean. Unfortunately, there was a leak from an unknown source that made the carpet in the second bedroom wet. The ad for the Resort stated that "all of the Premium Ocean View apartments have views of Main Beach and down toward the Gold Coast". This was a key reason we chose to stay there, but unfortunately it's a bit of an over-reach. Our view was of trees (with the ocean in the background). We could see the beach if we sat in a particular spot and looked through the trees. This was disappointing, but not as disappointing as: 1. hearing every move, and scrape, and bump from the apartment immediately above us (I had to speak to the occupants above us, but to no avail); 2. hearing people sat outside on the balconies in the evening and late into the night - the noise was due to the configuration of the apartments where balconies in one wing face the bedrooms in the opposite wing; and 3. the office being closed when people are most likely to need it (Sat afternoon and Sun), particularly to utilise the 'games room' (basically a table tennis table and pool table). My children were keen to play but had no bats, balls, or cues. The Resort appears to be undergoing a facelift - it needs it, as it looks tired compared with other facilities close by. We will go back to the Island, but regrettably will not stay at the Resort as it is not value for money.
We stayed in number 16, it was a 2 bedroom with a view of the forest and ocean. Very spacious and comfortable beds. The apartment was clean and well looked after. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay.
The good....A lovely location, right near a patrolled beach. The not so great... The building is not really built to allow a proper ocean view from all units. No WiFi??? Isn't this 2017? Even camping grounds have WiFi these days. Unit 16 is in need of maintenance. The fly screen doors have had their rollers removed, rather than replaced. This just means they fallout out when you try to open them...bit useless. Lastly, the office is not attended all weekend... Will be too bad if we need anything.
Stayed just 2 nights with family, but is the3rd visit for my parents who love the place. We stayed in ocean front apartment on 2nd floor, gorgeous views, very peaceful and easy access to beach for a walk/run. The pool area is well maintained, was nice for a dip & relax on sun lounger. Room was tidy and clean, with everything you need to feel at home. Enjoyed the brief stay, would return.
Great apartments - beautiful beach views. We were a group of 6 ladies - some walkers, some swimmers, some readers. The walking track along the cliffs to Cylinder Beach was wonderful. Plenty of space in the apartment to do you own thing. Watching the sunset, meals and wine on the deck - a perfect way to finish each day.
Walking into this beautiful 3 bedroom appartment (unit 40) there was definitely a wow factor. The unit lived up to all our expectations. Very spacious, well appointed and with a stunning view of the beach....Loved having our evening meal on the balcony with the wildlife grazing below. Pool, spa and bbq facilities were uncrowded and a pleasure to use.
