Today was my second adventure out with these divers and both times they have shown such kindness and incredible professionalism, ensuring all my dives were fantastic... Without them being so on their game, I may have given up and gone home feeling beaten by the waves... Instead I have come home feeling blessed to live in a city that allows me to come on more adventures with them. James and Dan, thank you for taking such good care of me and for being so exceptionally passionate about what you do.
Great location, right next to the beach. Reasonable prices and rooms were ok. If you're looking for a place just to sleep at a good price, next to the beach, this is the best option. Probably would only suit backpackers/ single travellers.
3 of us went from cairns an mackay to dive with the mantarays when we arrived there we were told by a male staff member who was very rude that we wont be diving with the rays on saturday so we asked to cancell he then told us if we cancell we wont get a refund we spent the nite at the lodge in the shitiest room with a tiny little fan an very hot that all you did was sweat so we stayed so we didnt waste our money next morning 1/2 hour before we were to dive they sent a text saying the dive was cancelled because the tractor broke down after being told that we were abit angry especialy after the female staff told us they guarentee to dive with the rays
Avoid !!! Very unprofessional !!! We paid $560 in advance for 4 dives (over two days)for 2 people. The first dive was good. Although the dive masters didn't guide or showed us anything. Just dropped us at the site and went diving by themselves. The second dive was worthless with 0 visibility. No one from the group saw anything + we got lost. The second day we couldn't equalise so we couldn't dive. I understand that we ordered in advance so we can't get a refund. But I would have expected some willingness to meet us half way. They didn't allow us to snorkel or do anything else except sit in the tiny boat and get sea sick without any option of going into the sea. Very very disappointed!! We will never go back there again!!
The people at reception have been really friendly and helpful about the things to do on Stradbroke. However, the rooms and bathrooms were disgusting! There is a big games room but all is messy/broken. The kitchen could be good too if it was cleaned (especially inside fridges where I didn’t even dare put my stuff)...
We spent a few days here between Xmas and new year. We were very impressed by how organised and professional the team was. Safety and dive briefings were to the point, fully explained for all levels of divers and with some giggles thrown in too! The diving was incredible and the boat crew were really helpful and even looked after my sister who got seasick. Surface intervals had a good bit of banter, great cup of soup, fruit cake and lollies-what more could you ask for, oh yeah- heaps of mantas, leopard sharks and octopus-tip they showed up too! Would recommend it to anyone! Thanks guys! Emma, Brad,Rach and Craig Ps thanks for teaching Brad to dive!
Did two dives in the afternoon yesterday. Even visibility was not the best it was great; saw Mantas, Leopard Sharks, Guitar Sharks, Turtles and a number other rays within a single dive! Manta Boomie for sure a top spot for diving in Australia, Did this dive in a day trip from Brisbane which worked perfect, 40min drive by care, then a short 25min ride by water taxi (Gold Cats). There the pickup from the lodge was already waiting. Perfectly efficient to get a day out of the city. The crew overall was great and there was even hot soup provided between the dives and warm towels afterwards as the water was only 22 on that day. All together just great and for sure one if not the best spot to dive in Australia.
Pros: - Excellent wildlife - Loads if Manta rays, as well as lots of other awesome sharks, rays, fish. - Staff are amazing, very friendly, accommodating, do everything for you (even change your between dives). - if there was a 4.5 option I would give it Cons - Boat was a little cramped - There is a lot of swell so be aware if you suffer from sea sickness : take pills beforehand!
I traveled with family to Stradie recently and the plan was to do a couple of midweek dives with Manta Scuba Centre.[ to avoid the weekend crowds] Unfortunately I didn't research thoroughly enough on Tripadviser otherwise I would have known that Tuesday and Wednesday were "no dive days" as the crew needed some time off. Arriving on Stradie on a Sunday arvo, I visited the dive center on the Monday and was told that the first available booking would be Friday. Not much good for us as that was the day we were leaving. Dissapointed,I put my name and my brother in law/dive buddie's name down just in case of a Thursday cancellation. On the Wednesday I received the call that a few strings had been pulled and that we were now booked on the Thursday morning schedule. This is how you get satisfied customers. We were very impressed with the whole crew from Pippa and Jenna in the booking office to the boat skipper, Dan and the dive leader, James and divemaster, NIck . Loved your work guys. Equally we were impressed with the dive site "Manta Bommie" of which we dived twice.Clear warm water, very impressive. Leopard sharks and large Bull-rays, turtles and shovel-nosed sharks were in abundance and kept us entertained throughout both dives. A pod of Dolphins were our companions during the surface interval. Truly our "Best day on Stradie.
We were a Canadian Group of 4 with 3 PADI Certified divers and one Discover Scuba. Jenna at reception made organizing the travel to Straddie and bookings for a Re-Initiate class and 2 Afternoon dives a breeze. They were able to keep us 4 all in the same group through the training and dive sites. James and Jeff, our trainers showed enthusiasm and passion during the training session as well as guided our dive very well with assisting our DS person during the high current section of Manta Bommie. We were able to get VERY close to a Manta and a Leopard Shark. Overall a amazing experience provided by the Manta Lodge Team!
