Went here expecting the worst on a stag do after only reading the terrible reviews in tripadvisor, but we were all nicely surprised. Was very warm, had to turn heating off most nights. Rooms are basic but unless you are planning to spend all your trip in your room they are fine. Bathroom was small and the floor does flood a bit. The tap to control the temperature is sensitive, 0.5mm either way will scald you or freeze you in seconds so just be quick! Susanna kept the beers flowing and was very helpful and polite at all times, The boat didn't move about like expected it felt safe, no noise from the road could be heard and it's only 5-10 minutes walk to the main part of town. It would have been good to be able to use the bar 24hours especially as it caters for stag do's but there is a mini bar in all rooms but that gets expensive. If travelling on a budget it's definitely worth a look

Having visited in the middle of winter don't believe any tosh reported on here that the rooms are cold! Absolute nonsense! Heating is from rads not air blown for a start! Rustic charm and the romance of the Danube make this a top place to stay for anybody. Further benefit, you are on the better side of town for the bars. Go round the back of the bus station and up towards the castle for some awesome little bars!

I am a world traveller of some 50 years so try to write clear and objective reviews. This 'Botel' is well situated just 10 or so mins walk to the Old City and say 5 mins from the coach to Vienna. It is also amongst the cheapest places to stay in Bratislava and assuming you go other than the Winter months then you may well be pleased with what you got budget wise. However of the 4 Botels at Bratislava this is the most care worn boat who is showing her age. The main lounge area and restaurant remains fairly ok and comfortable (if very dated) and also warm! However the bed rooms are on the edge of that sell by date (never expect a Botel to have large bedrooms) with dodgy light fittings and if you want air conditioning you may find it noisy. Notice I use the words noisy and warm. Do NOT even consider staying in the Winter months as bedroom heating is dreadful as the warmth given out by the air conditioning never gets further than 1 metre from the ceiling and then escapes through windows with poor seals. The bathroom (a pre-formed entire unit) has great showers but the water will ingress over the entire floor of the bath room - (no problem if you like to paddle). Breakfast was just adequate (what do you expect for the price). They should (my opinion) close shop say Jan>March as when I visited so few people staying they shut all facilities one night and I could not even get a cup of coffee when I returned - but I was one of only three bedrooms booked. Staff are excellent.

The botel if enough good, the location is good, the breakfast was ok, but it was really cold in the room. I guess it's a good option to stay during the summer time, but in December it's not so comfortable.

Located on the Danube under the castle. It is approx 10 minutes from the old quarter and the UFO tower. The staff speak good English and are very helpful. The breakfast is a buffet self service of cereals, yogurt, cheese, breads, and salads. If you like a big cup of tea, take your own cup and tea bags. They do have all the fruit teas but I couldn't find breakfast/black tea. Nice view of the Danube and castle in the dining room. The Botel room has twin beds in a small cabin with a small on suite. Towels are provided along with shampoo/shower gel. No hair dryer or kettle though. A bus station is situated 5 minutes away which has a bus that goes to Vienna for 5 euro. I would suggest you book your seat as they do sell out fast. We had to get the train from the main station. I would suggest if your flying in to Bratislava to book a taxi from the Botel or off the internet before you fly. The airport is approx 11 km away and we had 2 taxis. One at a cost of €28 and the other on the same route with one less passenger at €35. We got 2 bus's back to the airport at a cost of €1.20 In summary cheap, clean, good and plentiful breakfast, different, great views, easy to find, nice staff, well located.

Well this was different. Staff very friendly and helpful, room was spacious for me single trip 2 beds fridge shower toilet wee desk chair wardrobe. Like anywhere else contents of fridge expensive. Breakfast to be desired. 2 different cold meats cheese tomatoes cucumber fruit cerial rolls bread for toast hotdog type sausage, poor fare the bread for toast got smaller each day another few days and it would be postage size.November very quite bar closes at 10 each night. It is a long ramp to get on board steep.boat heating was good and being on the danube I never felt any movement when large barges went by.what you pay for is what you get so don't expect grandeur. Back packers would like it.price around during about £30 a night 10 minutes walk into old town bratislava.

I booked the botel as part if a trip for myself and my mother. We were starting in Prague, travelling to Bratislava and then going to Budapest before flying back to London. This hotel was booked via Hotels.com after reading their reviews which were all very positive. This was my mothers highlight of the trip - 2 nights sleeping on the Danube beneath Bratislava castle. Unfortunately, the reality did not match the reviews or expectations. On opening tge main door to enter reception our noses and throats were assailed with fresh and stale tobacco smoke. The gentleman on reception was amiable enough as he handed us our key and we quickly escaped to our cabin. This turned out to be a tiny, dingy, dismal room consisting of 2 single beds and a battered wooden table and chair. The bathroom was a plastic lined shell. Human hair was in the sink and the bathroom mat was saturated from a leaking toilet basin. There was no kettle or tea making facilities in sight. On reporting the leak to reception I was told that it wasnt a leak, merely water from the boat rocking (strange that as the 'boat' is built onto a concrete platform!) On enquiring about tea making facilities I was informed that due to health and safety kettles were not allowed in cabins. However, we coukd carry glasses of boiling water down a steep narrow staircase from the bar to our cabin. (Great H&S considering I walk with a crutch and my mother with a walking stick). The girls working in the bar were not friendly and appeared as unhappy about being there as I was. As my mother was tired from travelling we decided to spend the night on the botel before finding alternative accommodation. The mattresses were comfortable but the beds were let down by paper thin handkerchieves masquerading as duvets. Breakfast next morning consisted of hot dogs, cheese and ham and fruit teas. This would not have been so bad if we had not been surrounded by chain smokers puffing away at the breakfast tables. Needless to say we checked out asap and moved to VIP Apartments which were sheer luxury in comparison. I tried to post this review on Hotels.com website as this is who i had booked through. For some reason it dors not apoear to have been posted (though positive reviews submitted around the same timeframe have been posted). I could not recommend this establishment at all.

Spent two nights here while on our way through Slovakia. First off, it's easy to find the place if you're traveling by car, but finding parking can be a bit of a challenge! We were able to find free parking a block over on a side street but crossing the street to get to the Botel can be intimidating and not for those whose mobility is compromised. This is an actual boat that is semi-permanently moored here and is now a hotel. Rooms are small. You are on the Danube and when large boats go by, you will notice some movement. If you get motion-sickness, you have been informed. Pal and Piotr at the front desk were always very friendly and helpful. We were assigned room #307 which required going upstairs. Room #307 is a room with 2 twin beds. Most of the rooms are set up this way and only a very small number of a double bed. This wasn't a real problem for us. We couldn't move the beds together as they are fixed and there is a desk in between. Beds were very comfortable. Room is getting a bit worn, but was clean. Bathroom was larger than we were expecting and also very clean. We were quite surprised and happy when after showering the majority of the bathroom remained dry. Bath amenities included shower gel only. Hair dryer available from the front desk. There was no air con, but there was a fan and when we removed the windows the room was quite pleasant. Free buffet breakfast had cereal/granola, yogurt, fruit, meats/cheeses, breads/rolls, juice, tea and coffee, as well as eggs and meat. Plenty to get us going. Location is just a 10 minute walk along the Danube to the old town. There's a tram stop not far from the top of the boat ramp. Botel has a restaurant, but both nights were were there it was closed for a private party. There is a nice seafood restaurant just across the street from the Botel if you don't eat downtown. For parking there is also a parking garage associated with another hotel/shopping center about 1km to the west. Not sure what the rates are. There is a lot of construction in this area along the river and the street parking situation may change.

Stayed for 3nights in Sept16.Sure its a little old ,but unique, and for £33 a night for cabin and adeguate breakfast whats to whinge about.Sat at back of the Boat and just watched the Danube slide by.If another barge or boat goes by the boat rocks a little,no suprise then!,but not an issue.10-20 minute walk into Old Town, depends how fast you want to walk.Great views. Its uniqueness makes for a different City break.

Boat remained completely stationary 95% of the time. As another boat went past it caused a crashing noise and the Botel to violently sway for a few seconds. We weren't warned of this and it shocked us a lot the first time. Very small and cramped room with dated furnishings and peeling off wallpaper. Water at the hotel cost 3 euros for a tiny glass bottle. Considering you can't drink the tap water this was rather unscrupulous. The food at the restaurant was very good one night and average the next, even when we ordered the same dishes. The door handle broke and I asked the receptionist early in the morning if we could have it fixed that day. She said yes she would sort it out but when we got back late in the evening it was still in the same position on the floor. Breakfast finished dead on 9:30 which was much earlier than any hotel we had stayed in prior. This was an inconvenience. Sitting in the restaurant in the evening would have been more pleasant if there hadn't been loud Slovakian music playing. At least there was a very small fridge but no kettle. We paid for a castle view and didn't get one. The restaurant staff was pleasant and the delicious meals we had a couple of times drags it up from 1 star.
