The staff were friendly. The breakfast was fine. The coffee was great. The room was a bit outdated for the price. My room had a shower with hot water which was nice. No noticeable noise from outside. I would stay again.
look, this is a 3 star Motel that we paid literally $69 per night for. the toilet had issues with flushing properly, and the door seal was gone at the bottom. the A/C was working but LOUD and pretty much freezing at any setting. BUT, it was moderately clean, I at no time felt unsafe, the breakfast was sparse but acceptable, the pool was clean and full of kids and families. So for a $69 per night hotel I give this a 5 star rating. had I paid $200 for it, it would be a 1 star rating. keep things in perspective. you get what you pay for. families, don't be afraid to stay here. its a budget hotel, but a safe one. and that is the most important thing of all.
We stopped here because traffic was terrible after the eclipse and we got caught late without a hotel reserved. We finally got directed here. It was acceptable if not great, but we at least were able to sleep. We had to go up to the second floor. The room door had to be slammed to close it, and the double lock did not work, but the sliding latch above did the job. The hotel is older and somewhat run down, but generally clean. The beds were comfortable and the wifi worked pretty well. A hot breakfast of sorts is offered, a step up from a simple continental breakfast but nothing great. We would have preferred to stay in a nicer place, but we were fortunate to get this at that point. If you don't have great expectations it is an acceptable place to stay. One caveat: the hot water is really hot, and the tub faucet works a little differently than some others. Be careful not to get burned before you get it adjusted to your liking.
This motel is in dire need of a make over. Our room was grubby, paint was missing in patches on the walls; the shower curtain had mould on it and around the bath, the caulking looked awful. The walls are thin so you hear the next room and the people above us sounded like elephants. The wifi didn't work at all and when I complained to staff, they acted as if there was no problem so did nothing despite other people coming in to complain whilst I was there. Go and stay in Cave City instead.
We tried to stay in this hotel. Again TRIED. The room was dirty. The walls and ceilings had stuff splattered on them. The bathroom was simply dirty. There were dead bugs on the floor. And worst of all little dead bugs in the bed sheets! Not much else to say other than it was disgustingly filthy. The only positive thing would be when we went to the front desk and told them we could not stay at this hotel they had no problems refunding out money.
I am puzzled about all the bad reviews. Recently had a 3 night stay. We had a room in the back of the hotel on the second floor. We had a great view. The breakfast each morning was very good. The room was clean. The bedding was clean and comfortable. Pool was nice. The staff was friendly. It was very quiet. Convenient location. Close to the highway for easy access to cave visits and close to Bowling Green where there is a cave boat tour. Not much food, but lost of choices 1 exit south.. Enjoyed our stay and if we go back to the area we will stay again.
Where do I begin... The room was NASTY. *Found a non-hotel brand PINK washcloth tucked up between the bed and the night stand on the floor. Clearly they don't vacuum. *Found a neon yellow shoe lace laying on the floor between the bed and nightstand on the other side. Clearly they don't vacuum. *Little pieces of lint and string that were noticeable because of the relatively dark carpet. Again, clearly they don't vacuum. *Under the desk, there was a used, crumpled kleenex and a candy wrapper. Clearly they don't vacuum. *Underneath the air conditioner, there was a Halls drop on the floor. Again, they do not require vacuuming of the cleaning ladies. *near the door, there was a small black hair comb on the floor, blending in with the carpet. Again, something that would have been seen if they vacuumed. *There was a huge, long black hair on the tank of the toilet and the seat of the toilet. I literally dry heaved when I saw it. *The porceline of the tub was chipping, caulk was dirty. *Only gave 3 towels. There were 4 of us. Not even the 2nd day did they give us 4 towels. *The "pretty-smell" was so overwhelming because clearly they were trying to cover smoke and pet smells. *So called wi-fi did not work at all. *The breakfast was gross. Identical 2 days in a row and it was the bare minimum. The pool paint was peeling. Absolutely nasty. We were going to stay there on the way back after our trip. Clearly we changed our reservations to something in Cave City.
The room seemed clean, bed and linens were fresh and comfortable. The big negative was the undeniable smell of cat pee. Whoa, it was bad!! I know, being a pet owner myself, that it is hard to find a hotel to allow pets but I just got the the reason why that is. It must be impossible to get that smell out of the carpet. It was a turn off.
I'm not a germophobe at all and this was disgusting. Do NOT stay here! We briefly discussed trying to get our money back and finding another hotel but it was late and we were tired from traveling. When I realized our room was upstairs and I am disabled and there is no elevator, I asked if we could be on the ground floor. She said that that was their only suite with beds for our family of 6, so no. We often stay with Choice Hotels and pick the ones that are "Inn and Suites" so all 4 kids can have a bed. Why call yourself an Inn & Suite if you only have one room with that option?!? Carpet is old and filthy. Took cushions off sofa bed and there was trash everywhere under there. Sofa bed was not level. Feet were about 8" below your head when you laid down. Also found a toddler's swimsuit crumbled up in the corner of the room. Searched the whole room and could not find any bedding for the sofa bed. I had just checked in and they knew our reservations were for a family of 6! Tried calling the front desk for 20 minutes. Constant busy signal. Turns out it was bc they had taken their phone off the hook. I found that out when I finally had to walk downstairs to look for bedding. After we had showered and gotten in our pajamas we realized there was no garbage can in the bathroom and no remote for the TV in the bedroom! Did not want to get dressed again to deal with those things so just went to bed and am now writing this review. Do NOT ever stay here! And this makes us really re-think staying at future Choice hotels. Horrible hotel. We can't afford to travel often so it makes me sick that our money was spent on this.
Price was better than Cave City, although there is not a lot to do in the neighborhood. So if It's just an overnighter you should be fine. Did not notice until about 5 am, but a strong aroma of cat urine woke me up - room 135. This was masked by the air conditioning, that I happened to turn off just before bed time. The front desk guy said "Huh - somebody must have sneaked a cat in? - duh - And left it like that. Breakfast snack was less than impressive, but the coffee was good. I would have rated this a 4 if not for the smell.
