Looked a bit tired on the outside, but once inside it was very clean throughout the whole hotel. All staff we encountered were very helpful and happy. Room was all that was needed for a 4 night stay, although the whole 2nd floor seemed to suffer from loud creaky floorboards. Breakfast was lovely and always hot with a good choice. Something other hotels charge extra for,but not here. My wife made good use of the Indoor pool and gym. Yes,some parts of hotel looked dated but as mentioned before all very clean. An added bonus is ample free onsite parking, and only a 15min walk into town centre. This was our first stay here and we would more than happy to return again . Better than some 4 star hotels we have stayed in locally and cheaper.

Nothing has changed still a lovely hotel which is excellent value. Breakfast is still very good, Rooms clean and a good size. Its good to have a bar so that you can have a pint to relax after the day. Will be coming back.

Have been here a couple of times over the years. Staff are amazing, service is great. It's a bit dated but y'know? It's clean and tidy and easy to get to. Parking and a pool, what more do you need for the price? Considering here for a get together in 2018 as it's pretty central but also Ina residential area.

2nd time I've stayed, 2nd time there hasn't been any hot water from the shower. Reported promptly on both occasions, no fix while I stayed there, no offer to move me. A shame, generally a pleasant hotel. However, getting the basics right is a must....

We've stayed at the Elstead hotel around 10 times now, and it never fails on the hospitality and service. From the extremely helpful and friendly reception staff, the waiting staff, cleaners, and the night porter (who is such a lovely chap). They all work so hard, and we've never had a bad stay. You are always acknowledged by them, and this is something a lot of modern hotels lack. The Elstead has an old fashioned charm about it. It is not a boutique hotel, but this is what we love about it. Spotlessly clean rooms. An excellent breakfast buffet (and made to order extras). We order room service for the evening meals, and the food is always piping hot, tasty, and good value. The pool is fantastic for a swim, or to take the children in. The Elstead is a little gem in Bournemouth, and we love coming back every time.

The hotel was in a superb location for the town and the beach. However it is in serious need of both basic upgrades and maintenance as well as modernisation. Very much decorated with carpets and furniture from the 80s needing serious improvements. Building exterior literally falling apart in places. A pleasant good sizes bedroom but certainly not warranting prices in bar or indeed overall.

Lovely staff here, phoned up reception late night last minute looking for a double room, lady on the desk (didn't get her name) was able to help me on the phone to book a room, rather than online which made the booking process nice and easy for me, done quick and she was very lovely and approachable when it came to checking in, also bumped into night porter (Malcolm) who was a breeze to speak to, he was sociable and friendly made me very welcome to the hotel and helped me out with an issue I had discussed with him. Room was lovely and big enough very comfortable. All in all great visit and very happy to have been welcomed by friendly happy faces (since most hotels I stay in staff seem dull and unhappy) great job here at elstead, hopefully I'll come again.

Just returned from a great weekend stay at the Elstead. From the moment we arrived the staff were very helpful and efficient. There is ample car parking on site. We had a room to the rear of the hotel which was very comfortable with a large spotlessly clean en suite bathroom. The bathroom had a large window making it bright and airy. There is an indoor swimming pool which is complimentary to guests. We had a swim every morning prior to breakfast. The breakfast was of a good quality and plenty of choice. Again the staff serving in the breakfast room could not do enough to keep us happy. The hotel is located in a quiet area but within easy walking distance of the town center and the beach front. When returning to Bournemouth I will defiantly return to the Elstead, if for no other reason than to see the great happy staff again. This is my third year staying at this hotel and again I found it comfortable, clean, friendly and the breakfast was first class. This hotel is in walking distance to buses, train station from airport, beach and a easy walk into the centre of Bournemouth. I do believe I will be back next year.

Deciding at the last minute to visit Bournemouth for a week, we checked out lots of hotel reviews at different price points - The Elstead's reviews put it well ahead of budget hotels, and on a par with a number of higher priced hotels, so we booked a seven-night stay. The location was just right: on a residential street, far enough out of town to be quiet, yet close enough to walk into Bournemouth. There's free parking on site (some other hotels charge extra for parking) and we had no problem finding a space. The bedroom and ensuite were clean, the staff friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I found the WiFi to be OK and the TV signal was good too (worth mentioning - I've stayed in several places where the aerial is shared between rooms without sufficient boosting, making the TV useless). We kept the window open and the ceiling fan on most of the time, as the room was always warm. We were at the back of the building and there was no appreciable noise from outside. The full English breakfast buffet was good, with plenty of choice. There's a gym and swimming pool with sauna and steam room too, all included in the price. We used these several times. As others have said, the hotel's decor is a little tired, but the many positive points far outweigh this and it was a good choice for our stay in Bournemouth.
