Great front desk staff, amenities and rooms. Their concierge staff was lacking and failed to provide advertised complementary services after several calls over several hours. Other than that, it is a pretty nice hotel.
The Taj couldn't have been in a better location for exploring Boston. Do yourself a favor and be sure to book a park view room.
Perfect location Beautiful bar area Beautiful views of the Public Garden
Great location for high end shopping and cute restaurants along Newberry Street. Right on the Boston Gardens which are beautiful. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Great hotel!
Can only say our stay was terrific in every way. Customer service is too notch. Not the hustle bustle of the big chain hotels, perfect location and great amenities. Will be staying at the Taj again!
Very pleasant experience. Enjoyed our stay there very much.
Old, clean, pretty comfortable. No in room coffee
Location location location. In the heart of Boston's back bay - easy to walk to Copley, downtown even to Fanuel Hall
The hotel was cleanly and in a fabulous location. I felt that the front desk could have been a little more helpful and friendly. When we arrived they said our room wasn't ready. So we went through the whole tagging of the bags for them to store, only to get called 5 minuets later saying the room was ready all along. Then she asked me for the bag tags like I was a stranger trying to steal my own luggage. ( I hadn't even left the lobby yet) That whole thing put the stay off to a weird start. Many employees acted very stiff. It was a toss up if you were going to get a friendly hotel employee or not. The gentleman who took our bags to the room was an absolute sweet heart, super friendly guy. Over all the hotel experience was ok but, probably will try another location when we go to Boston again.
In town for a wedding, was most concerned about location. Great location and good value for the room.
We only stayed one night, but that night was great! We booked a suite with a fireplace, but I didn't know until we checked in that it was a real wood burning fireplace with your choice of wood to burn (Oak and Cherry for us). They allowed us to check in a little early and extended checkout a couple extra hours since we had a very late show to go to that night and wanted to sleep in a bit. The bed was very comfortable. Everything about the experience was great!
excellent location. ok hotel. would sty there again. steer away from the cocktails at the bar
Great location but rooms look a little tired. Seems like a Fairmont type property. Maids knocked on the door three times morning of check out prior to 10am trying to come in and make up room for next guest. Not appreciated as had a young child with me. Not bad, but one of worst Taj properties I have stayed at and looks like it has not been updated since it was a Ritz. New Ritz much better.
From front desk to bar, to restaurant, extremely NATURALLY friendly service. Immediate help when needed, check out great, easy storage and delivery of luggage, asked and got hour later checkout
My gal and I capped a New England fall colors tour with a night in Boston at the Taj. This hotel is the former Ritz. It's a beautiful building and the location can not be beat, overlooking Boston Garden and steps away from Newbury and Beacon Streets. Our only complaint: the hotel still bears the '80s Ritz decor. Everything is flowery, busy and grandma-like...the latter description coming from a man in his 60s! It REALLY needs new furniture, wallpaper (or no wallpaper, just paint) and new carpeting but other than that a wonderful place to stay.
Very nice facilities and a friendly staff. I really enjoyed my stay here.
Loved my stay! Hotel hallways could use a little paint, but the location was perfect and the staff was wonderful. Fun to stay in a historic hotel!
Went to Boston for our anniversary, Taj Boston was great. Location is fantastic with the Public Garden being across the street. Friendly service from all staff members at the hotel. Overall experience was what I expected and more.
Very comfortable, clean, good size rooms with everything you could possibly need. Central to everything and very pleasant, helpful staff.
Our 1 night away from the kids was perfect! The beds are so confortable and the shower pressure was amazing...better than home for us!
