Although I have run past the Royal Sonesta many times over the years I have lived in Boston, I never stayed there. So it was a real surprise to enjoy the hotel as a visitor one recent fall weekend. The staff were wonderful and friendly, and in the era of coronavirus, the hotel was clean and safe, without feeling restrictive. Once the restaurant re-opens no doubt we'll return for dinner!

Great reference point to get around Boston & Cambridge; staff was polite and courteous

Nice view of science museum, very friendly service. Switched rooms without a problem when I made a booking mistake.

The pool was wonderful, but the room was stated to sleep 4, but only had a king bed, with no pull out or anything. When I asked for 2 cots for my children, they said they could only send up one for fire code. So I asked for an extra blanket and never got it. Asked for it again and still never got it. I went to the lobby and got the blanket, they did give us extra time the following morning to get out of the room.

Rooms facing the Charles River afford a beautiful view of be city!!!

The tub in the unit I was in had some layer on it that was peeling off. It had multiple spots where it'd come off the original ceramic tub and I did worry that it would leak. However, the shower and water itself worked and was OK. This was a minor issue, but the place is so nice I was surprised that they'd let this go. They did know that I'd booked through a service, not called directly. Maybe you get lower grade rooms if you do?

This hotel was very modern and accommodating. A bit on the expensive side but worth it. A quick taxi ride to seaport, and financial district....alot of restaurants around there.

Great location. Friendly staff. Cabs almost always on the ready and ride shares always nearby.

Everything was great, but the AC wasnt working so good. Had a maintenance fix it but still was the same. It was a bit muggy.

Loved being on river walk, having 2 amazing restaurants and a pool!!

The facilities were nicely decorated and quite clean. We ended up getting a significantly larger room than we reserved, which was a very nice surprise. The food from the hotel restaurants was all good quality and room service was punctual. HOWEVER, on our first night someone was smoking on the same floor as us and trace amounts got into the ventilation system. My partner is very sensitive to cigarette smoke and this caused her to suffer from asthma-related breathing difficulties. When we reported this to the front desk, the attendant seemed annoyed that we were complaining to him (to be fair, we were 3rd or 4th in a long line of people with other beefs). He did promise to contact security and also have the ventilation system flushed. We left for a few hours and when we returned the air quality was better. However, the same staffer was on the front desk and seemed dismissive when we asked for an update. This experience didn't ruin the trip by any means, and the rest of the staff were all very courteous and helpful, but it disrupted our weekend plans and caused distress and discomfort for my partner. When I book a four star hotel I expect a higher level of professionalism from the staff - especially at the front desk. I understand he was having a frustrating night, but it wasn't right for him to project that resentment onto us.

Very spacious, nice bars, great pool, nice view of the river

The heat in our room was turned off and the technician told us it was off for the season. We were sooo cold in the room. Our room was set up for a single person, there were two of us and the room space was very crowded. The bathroom counter area was tiny.

I didn't like how unnecessarily expensive everything is -- the hotel could easily afford to ratchet back costs by a few hundred bucks.

The staff was very accommodating, from finding room at the ArtBa for a large group that kept growing, to storing our luggage while we attended an all-day meeting in the beautifully appointed Grand Ballroom. Everyone on staff had the attitude that it would be their pleasure to meet our every request. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Royal Sonesta.

Given its proximity to MIT The hotel is not surprisingly designed around requirements for millennials. For example , breakfast is from an on site Starbucks for a quick coffee and pastry . Dinner is available at the bar. No minibar except for water. Nice modern design. Good location near Mall in Cambridge and close to the bridge leading to Boston
