Not too fancy, but everything you need, is there. The staff in the lodge area is friendly and helpful, but the restaurant they are working with, is nothing like that. They don' t trouble themselves with attending you! Extremely wide and comfortable (hard) bed, perfect sleep after long flight.
This hotel was terrific...snorkeling right from the hotel pier...nice pool...good restaurant and bar...helpful and friendly staff...and with a central location - walking distance to St James restaurant and grocery stores. If the rooms had air conditioning, they could charge 2 - 3 times more :-)
I highly recommend the Oa Oa Lodge if you don't want to spend the high price for a swanky resort OW bungalow. The staff was responsive when booking and prompt on meeting me at the airport shuttle. The place is clean, although there is no air conditioning. The views are spectacular and you can jump off the balcony into the ocean and watch sunset. There is also a small but perfect infinity pool. You can walk to the city, supermarket and the roulettes for dinner. There is a restaurant next door (beware, very little is open in BB on a Sunday). The personnel were very accommodating and extremely nice. I was travelling solos and this was the perfect place. The locals were even singing next to the pool one night! I highly recommend. The only downside is the lack of AC but it was not bad. Also, the accommodation is plain but has everything you need and is clean.
We spent 3 nights at this place in a bungalow with a garden view and partial water view and it was a comfortable lodge that met our requirements: close to grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. They have free airport transfer. The bedroom is very large which has a bed that easily can sleep 3 people. Has all what you need, lots of closet space and hangers and even a huge mirror. We liked that there was a kitchen with all basic items, no microwave though and we ate our meals on our deck overlooking the garden. There was no AC, but it wasn’t really needed, the air cooled off nicely for the night. If it is windy, you can hear the wind in the room, but that just makes the experience even more unique (island life). We walked to the grocery store daily, there is one about 5 min from the lodge that had lots of good options for making sandwiches and stack up on wine and local beer. There are bikes available for rent and we were able to go to the beautiful Matira public beach, about a 30 min bike ride from the lodge. The staff was very nice and super helpful, and they even booked us on a same day snorkeling tour that turned out to be by far one of the best experiences on the island. There is a nice restaurant next door, little expensive, and a pool, we didn’t use it, but saw other guests enjoyed it and we watched some pretty gorgeous sunsets from the loading dock. You can also go snorkeling in the water right by the lodge, keeping in mind that the water gets deep as this lodge faces the harbor for boats and ships.
That was the best spot, place and staff we have ever been too !!!!! Real Tahitian authentic staff and attention ! Best retreat stop for World yachting Tour!!!!!! This experience will change your vision of life !!! Highly recommended (even for 5 star hotel guest to squeeze for one or two night in their trip.
This lodge is close to town and they have bike rentals. The. Ike’s are in good shape and I cycled around the island in about 3 hours. My butt was sore because the seats are just touring bike seats. It is very convenient to town unlike other lodges in the island. We walked into town or rode the bike. There are several alternatives to expensive restaurants. They have food wagons and the grocery stores have deli sections. No shopping on Sunday for groceries so stock up before. The lodge is clean and tidy. Nice pool as well if you don’t want to jump in the ocean. I would suggest spending the extra dollars for a water side accommodation. It isn’t a total over the water bungalow like you see in the advertisements but it is close enough and well below what you would pay for one.
We spent 8 glorious days at the Oa Oa Lodge in Bora Bora. The location is very convenient, close to town, a restaurant on the premises and a short walk to the big supermarket. But best of all, the lodge is right on the water and a great place to swim. Sitting on the deck, watching the colors of the ocean, we had fish swimming right in front of us with an occasional turtle and sting-ray swimming by. The lodge is immaculately clean and run very well by a friendly staff who speak excellent English. There was also a nice pool and deck furniture. The staff could not be more accommodating. We spent three months in French Polynesia and Oa Oa was one of the nicest places we stayed. It is small and it has personality.
I was greeted by MITI I also have the honour to meet the owners which are very friendly together with all the team. I stayed in Bangalow number 8 which was a nice garden view. The bedroom it's very large which has a bed that easily can sleep 3 people, also at the board of the bed it does have a Huuugge mirror which I love it! Has all what you need an wardrobe, hangers, internet, TV, Air conditioning. The shower it's separately with the toilet, has shampoo, shower gel, towels and soap that it was a very cute detail it's on a shape of a Tiare Tahitian flower. Swimming pool it's great, also you have a restaurant too. Around you can go by walking to supermarket Super U, 10 min away. If you wanna get a nice pearls go to Arc En Ciel shop store. I booked all the activities that I be done with OA OA Lodge it's cheaper to get it with them then other places! To get around I rent a bike they also have at a very reasonable price, I suggest it to get one and go to explore the island to Matira Beach it's like 25min. I enjoyed the view and the beautiful places. You don't really need a car, only if you do have kids. When I was there we had very nice entertainment: MITI he is a great singer and he played guitar with his team, they are very talented. That was a plus!!! All th guest's we have enjoyed one full day of Tahitian music songs. Very beautiful! ( Still singing into my had) I highly recommend this place to stay! Absolutely make my whole holiday!! Maururu to all the team for makeing my stay unforgettable! I will stay here again!!
This was a comfortable lodge that meet all of our requirements: close to grocery stores, restaurants and the shopping district. It was located in a safe area, but there is a gate and security for part of the evening hours. We liked there there was a kitchen and we ate our meals on our deck overlooking the garden. We paid for laundry service. We walked to town a couple times a day, but there are bikes available for rent. We were close to a car rental agency and got a discount with Avis car rental (also locally owned). The staff was very helpful and every you've read about Tom is true!!
We arrived in Bora Bora after a week in Tahiti. Our shuttle collected us promptly and took us to OA OA just after the main town of Vaitape. We were greeted by Tom! All I can say is that Tom was amazing, friendly, informative and spoke perfect English. (Thank you Tom) all of the other staff were equally as friendly and gave us a warm welcome. We were in an over water bungalow for 4 nights. The bungalow was a great size, good bathroom, shower and the balcony was incredible. The room was clean and cleaned daily without fail. You can view the sunset every day which was stunning. The water around the bungalow was very clear and we even had a sea turtle swimming around on a few occasions! There is a nice pool there - one thing is that there were no sun loungers - only chairs so not the most comfortable for any amount of time. You can hire bikes for a reasonable price which we did and cycled to the military guns. Walking distance to the Super U and cafes which was super handy - and Tom assisted in booking excursions and restaurants! Do plan for any visits to Marita beach as it is a 3000franc taxi journey one way. Overall the best week of our life - thank you again to Tom and the team Maururu 🤙🏼
