The hotel was in a great location just 5 minutes from the station and bus links. There were restaurants nearby and the main centre was a fifteen minute walk. The room was of a good size with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was fine.
We arrived by train- our first time to Bologna- with no place to stay. We had not researched much other than to get to Bologna from Florence by train and pre-schedule a tour of the ducati factory the next day. So, clueless, we walked from the train station towards those blue hotel signs and the Bologna Moderne Art Museum (MAMBO) and found Hotel Astoria, a “3-star” hotel with appointed front desk staff, an elevator, free luggage holding, and complimentary breakfast for about €145. The large and quiet room had an actual bathtub. Our non-planning worked out ok though the price was higher than we usually go. We were walking distance to the MAMBO, restaurants and shops. The hotel easily called up taxis for us to get to the Ducati factory and one to get to the airport. There was an issue immediately upon checking in about the toilet and by the time we returned from our afternoon glass of prosecco, they fixed it. Thanks Hotel Astoria!
I was at this hotel for 1 night and my review as follows: 1) Location: It is about 30 minutes walk from the Bologna Train Station (on the opposite of city centre). There is two exits from the Train Station - one if towards the city centre, and the other one is towards the other side - you have to exit from the other one. Then it is a simple walking along main road for about 1km or so. Road are flat to walk. It is quite safe to walk at 10pm. There are a few restaurants/eateries nearby the hotel. I thought the location of the hotel is ok. 2) Hotel Building, Lobby and Check IN Hotel Buildings is ok except there is stairs to the lobby at the entrance hence you have to carry your luggage up. Lobby is ok 3 star hotel. Check in was fast. There is an elevator at the hotel. 3) Room We had a room on the top floor. Room is spacious, modern and nice. Bathroom is also spacious, modern and clean. I am impressed with the room and bathroom to be honest for a 3 star hotel. Shower area is also spacious. Overall I had a good sleep at this hotel. 4) Buffet Breakfast Hotel breakfast is simple. I think the spread could have been better given that the room quality is good. I hope the hotel can improve on its breakfast offerings. 5) Wifi Wifi speed is average. Overall, i thought for a short stay the hotel location ok as it is within walking distance to the train station. It is advisable to keep your luggage at the train station rather than at this hotel once check out as the hotel is on the other side of the city centre. Anyway, i would recommend this hotel for those visiting Bologna.
i booked at this hotel for a short holiday in Bologna. the hotel is very close to the train station, city center etc. breakfast is really good and the rooms are well kept. the service and the personel running this hotel are very fluent in english as well and we liked the place. looking forward for another stay there.
Nice hotel for the price and location. Very convenient to the train station (I walked to and from) and I didn't think a bad walk at all to the city center (Piazza Maggiore). The rooms were clean and quite sufficient. The wifi was not good- I was on a lower floor, but yet the wifi signal was entirely unreliable. When I needed some uninterrupted access, the lobby and outside courtyard provided great signal. The staff was very friendly, spoke English and were very helpful!
We stayed at this hotel in the middle of a heatwave and despite repeated requests for the staff to check the broken air conditioner, nothing was done. We were cooked in our room for two nights. Other than that, it was fine. It's about a twenty minute walk from the historical centre. The rooms are dated but clean.
as we travel with our 11 years old son they offered us an appartment with two rooms near to the hotel building. it was new, clean and well furnished. provide a good sleep. hotel have a good location. very near to the historical center and just 200 meters away from train station. average breakfast. comparing wih the price i could stay again.
I stayed here for 2 nights because I needed a place near the train station. It's fairly easy to find- about a 10 minute walk from the station with luggage. My room was average size for an Italian single. The wifi worked well. The shower was very good. The room was quite hot as the air conditioning wouldn't go below around 77 degrees F, but I am finding this out in most hotels I'm staying at in Italy this summer. The breakfast was adequate. I didn't know there was an outdoor terrace to eat in or I would have done so, as the breakfast room was extremely hot. Overall, the hotel was clean and a good value but without a lot of charm.
Hotel Astoria has comfortable, refreshed rooms. It's located very well, close to the train station and city centre. Those are the best advantages, especially if you are coming there only to sleep. Staff is not the friendliest I met, especially the waiters during breakfasts. Room service was also average, we didn't have our towels changed when we asked for it.
Average hotel. Nice bathroom in our room on the bottom floor of the hotel annex. Staff were very helpful. Air-conditioning woefully insufficient for the heat and also mouldy (see picture). Location was good, within walking distance to town center and many restaurants. Not recommended for more than a couple of nights.
