The staff is friendly and helpfful, the room was clean and big enough.Location is in central of the Sal Rei and close to the beach. On the top is a terrace where you can have the breakfast wich is simple but fresh with fruits ,cereals coffe and tea ,milk ,juice and eggs,it was also cheese and ham.
I have just returned from a 2 week stay in A Paz and it really has been great. I booked the flight via TUI and the room separately for an Amazing price I emailed the hotel from the UK to arrange the taxi from the Airport to the hotel and the Driver was sat waiting for me outside the Airport with my name card, the ride from the Airport took around ten minutes, On arrival I was met by Adil who spoke very good English, as well as Portuguese, Italian and I believe Dutch and French. On Arrival You Pay Adid for the taxi 20 euros return and also the hotel tax which is 2 euros per night up to 20 euros this goes to the government not the hotel. Adid arranges the taxi back for you and this runs like clockwork. The Hotel is located near the main Square in Sal Rei and is a 2 minute walk from the amazing long beach.5 minutes down the beach and you come to some bars and restaurants which really are good value the ice cream at Alionis is amazing it is 1 euro for a small glass with a biscuit in and is the best ice cream I have tasted even Marilina at the hotel agrees ( the Owners daughter) beer in the bar is around 100 -150 escudos for half a pint which is under or over a £1, the meals are great value you can spend as much as you like but around £7 would be the norm or cheaper if you eat in the Square and don’t want a good sea view. The breakfast is Continental and there is plenty of Tea Coffee and Juice for you, The main purpose for my stay was to walk in the sun as much as possible after the recent loss of my wife and the walks to the left or the right are fantastic, if you walk left for an hour you come to one of the large All Inclusive hotels and the people are packed in together on the sun beds, which is fine but not what I wanted, walk another 15 minutes past the large hotel and you find an amazing little restaurant in a great bay again with amazing views but be warned the walk back can be head wind and you may need to cool off a couple of times in the sea or have a beer. If you go right on the beach and walk through the harbour you will meet the shop owners that want you to look at their work after the first two visits to their shops I just politely said no and they don’t pester you. Keep going right and you will come along amazing deserted beaches and half way along the Beach is the Pirate bar where you can enjoy a great meal or just a drink and watch an amazing sunset if its not cloudy, Keep going and you come to the Marine Club, you can skirt around that via a pathway on the seaside or take the long walk round on the right side and come out near a small church , down there are so great bays that you can sunbath in. Boa Vista is fantastic, the weather I had was great its Windy but it cools you down, The A-Paz is clean and comfy there’s was always hot water and a clean comfy bed, the staff are great and friendly the owner Luciano and his Daughter Marilina where amazing to me during my stay and I will return there as I feel I have left part of my heart there. 10/10 from me.
i had a 6days stay in Sal Rei, i booked a room at “a paz” with a balcony. at the booking website it did not have that many pictures but i thought the place had good reviews. First day i had a surprise, they overbooked my room and sent me to a room in the back with hardly no light or fresh air. I complained and i had the room i expected the day after. It had much more light and fresh air and the balcony. The persons managing the place are really nice and competent, they are open to dialogue and they insist they will do what they can to provide a nice stay. The breakfast is simple but good. The room is clean and spacious. Beds are comfortable. shower is warm. Towels are supposed to be changed every 2days, bed sheets every week and the room is cleaned every day. The prices are affordable and more or less the average of prices around. There’s only wifi at the rooftop where you have breakfast but it’s accessible whenever you want. The location is a bit complicated. It’s really nice because it’s right next to the center of town and the beach Estoril. It’s bad because that’s the place where all the loud party happens. Also right in front there’s a quad rental place and the main street, so even at night you often hear cars, quads or motorcycles. Not only that but there’s a capoeira school right next door, which is nice for the community and interesting for tourists but not so good if you expect peace and quiet. Also there might be other parties in the neighborhood. Finally i would recommend this room only to people that want to be in the center and experience something authentic and be part of that “party/life” surrounding the building. If you spend the day outside you will not notice. If you expect peace and quiet, and you insist coming to this place then you must contact them directly, or choose another place in Sal Rei or even another town, but then you risk being even more isolated. The name “a paz” ( the peace) is maybe ironical. But although i had a “bad” start, although there’s often noise i must say i enjoyed my stay in Sal Rei.
The place itself was very clean and the lady who welcomed us was very nice. The room was basic and so was the breakfast but we appreciated the effort that went into it. Again the language barrier was a problem, Portuguese is not our strong point, we tried speaking Spanish but that didn’t really help. We had a pretty poor nights sleep due to the mosquitos but this can’t be blamed on them as we had no bug spray and it was our first night in Cape Verde. They were very helpful with booking us a taxi back to the airport. I wouldn’t stay here for long unless you are properly travelling, for us this was a nice winter break, had we come across it whilst travelling we’d review it better I feel. But this is why we have given it four stars. One other recommendation is when showering don’t turn it up full blast, you will only end up having a cold shower.
This was an excellent choice for my stay in Boa Vista. The residential is great value, and a very quiet and nicely designed place. One block off the main square, so near to everything but quiet. Several shops around to buy food and drinks. The host was very friendly and welcoming.
One of the best budget places in town. Do not expect very hight standards of comfort which you'd from a 4/5 star hotel. You have a decent clean room with your own bathroom and a simple breakfast, no airco, hairdrier, telephone or TV. However, you sleep well and you're close to everything you may wish in Sal Rei. Comparable to the regular prices in town, is very good money value.
Friendly staff and a great location , walking distance to the beach is 5 minutes, close to the central market. Would recommend anytime to someone traveling on small budget. The manager and staff are friendly and speak English as well.
I stayed for six nights and I would not choose to go back. Next door is a capoeira school and most nights they would have super noisy training sessions (loud drums) between 20 and 22. One night there was a party there and the music was crazy loud between 01.30 and 03.30. I came to Boa Vista to relax.
After one night in the basement (which was ok) i could switch to the most beautiful room on the first floor- gorgeous, big and very clean! I loved talking to the local staff, they felt like friends rather than employees. Through them, i learned a lot about Capeverdian mentality, political situation etc. Note that the Residencial isn't your place if you're expecting luxury or fancy stuff but it's definitely your place if you want a safe, warm and welcoming place!
