We did not stay overnight. We booked this home for one night in Birmingham and were extremely disappointed, ultimately driving four hours back home in the middle of the night. The property was not fit for anyone, especially a family with four kids.First issue: we never received check-in instructions and had to contact the host just hours before arrival for the code. Upon arrival, the front door was clearly damaged from prior break-ins and would not fully close, leaving a visible gap. Inside, there was a strong cigarette odor, and the home looked nothing like the listing photos.The condition was unacceptable: flooring pieces were taped down, a large ceiling hole was covered with cardboard, and the kitchen counters were dirty with food residue. Curtains and towels had stains, floors were broken or peeling, and one couch was ripped with a large wet spot. Much of the home had loose artificial grass flooring that caused multiple trips.We briefly stayed to change and left. After our event, we considered staying since we had already paid, but our children were scared and begged not to remain.The host mentioned prior renters had thrown a party, but that did not excuse the condition. This was a complete waste of money and the worst rental experience we’ve had.
