This was the worst hotel experience ever! Rude person at the front desk. Room was mediocre at best. Booked the room for post surgery stay and on the day of my surgery, after returning to the hotel, I was trying to sleep through the post op pain when the fire alarms went off, jolting me awake and right back to the pain. We managed to get the front desk on the phone after multiple attempts, who said there was something wrong with the alarms. After 15 minutes of screaming alarm sounds, the alarms finally silenced. 20 minutes later they started again, but this time the front desk was not answering their phone. I tried 5 times to call the front desk to no avail. We had to actually remove the alarm from the ceiling to stop the piercing sound. I tried calling the front desk multiple times after we removed the alarm to let them know but they NEVER answered the phone for the duration of that night and the next day. I would rather sleep in my car than stay in this horrible place again. With all the other choices around the Grandview area, don't waste your money on this dump.
My room was clean, just an average room nothing spectacular. However I left something at the hotel and Shawna called me to let me know and asked how she could assist in getting it back. She went above and beyond her job and I want to make sure she gets recognition for that!
By far one of the worst hotels I've EVER been to. (And I've stayed at $29 dollar rooms in myrtle beach). Gross. Not clean. RUDE RUDE staff that lie about everything. Don't come here. Last resort only.
I had a friend coming into town and booked him a room here. The rate was decent and it's a great area on 280. I've booked rooms here a few times before for friends & family. The hotel is always clean with friendly staff and I've never had any issues in the past. The only thing I had an issue with this time was the room smelled like someone had been in there smoking. I thought this was a non-smoking facility. The room was most definitely a non-smoking room so there's no way it should've smelled like smoke. Disgusting.
Nice hotel in a very convenient location, close to lots of shopping, restaurants, and major highways. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast typical and adequate for this hotel chain. Beds are very comfortable. Room had a bit of a cleaning solution smell to it, but not bad.
This hotel really tricked me becauSe hotels are normally nice. This one looks good on the outside but once u get inside it's very old. It really needs to be renovated. The walls are thin, you can hear the next person close their door it's so loud. Our sink didn't drain properly which left a very nasty sink. I had to call downstairs twice for towels. Won't be staying here again.
I can't pull up the QI we stayed in. It was in Irondale. This hotel was old but refurbished. The bed is awesome. The room has a microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. Breakfast was awesome. The had scrambled eggs, pan sausage, and waffles. They had 3 cereals, and all manor of breads to toast. Also biscuits and gravy. All very good.
My husband and I stayed in this hotel in April 2012 and again in January 2014. The hotel is very nice overall, the rooms are spacious and well appointed. The swimming pool was nice as well. I always inquire whether the room windows can be opened to let fresh air in. At our first stay in the hotel, we were told that the windows open, and they did, indeed, which was great. The second time, however, we were told the windows can be opened so we booked a room of the same type (2 queen beds on a higher floor) again. When we went to the room, it turned out that the windows can open but no fresh air can come in because there was a heavy plexiglass screen nailed around the window on the outside. I asked the receptionist why they told me their windows can be opened to let fresh air in when this wasn't true, no answer. We requested a change of room which we got after some hemming and hawing. The new room was one with a nice balcony. Overall, if you don't care about letting fresh air in, any of the usual rooms are fine. If you do, book a room with a balcony.
The hotel was nice but more expensive that other Quality Inns that we had stayed in on this trip. It was during Hurricane Matthew and many were coming inland to stay so we had a hard time finding a room. Was more expensive than most Quality Inns and we wondered if it had to do with many other hotels sold out. It was quiet on the backside of 3rd floor. It was adequate for one night.
If ratings were based on what you really should expect for the money, then I'd give this hotel a 4 or 4.5. I spent roughly $80, which was a pretty good deal in Birmingham on a game weekend. The hotel is in a great location, its on 280, which is a VERY BUSY highway. The good news is that there's a traffic light at the hotel entrance making it very easy to get on the highway (believe me this is important on 280!). Also, there's a Chic-fil-A right next to the hotel and a Dunkin Donuts across the (busy) street, and a Super TArger within walking distance. For a one night stay, you can't beat it. Hotel is small, but clean and safe. Room was small, but clean. Shower water flow was good and bed was decent. Pillows are horriblly uncomfortable, but I find that to be true for most hotels. Staff was friendly. I can't vouch for the free breakfast, didn't eat it.
