If you are looking for a place to unwind and experience relaxation - this is the area to be. However the hotel/guesthouse lacks a certain charm. The rooms are very basic with uncomfortable bed and linen so rough it will rub your skin raw. Additionally the wifi is only in the communal areas and does not reach the bedrooms.
An easy drive a few hours from Marrakech into the Atlas mountains, but a world away from the hectic pace of the city. Come here if you want great views, friendly service and comfortable cabins. It's the sort of place where you're happy to do nothing but sit on your patio or the restaurant terrace with a coffee, soaking up the peaceful atmosphere. And if you're feeling more active, it's a great base for watersports on the Bin El Ouidane lake. Or hiking/biking in the mountains, with Cascades d'Ouzoud, Cathedral Rock, Ait Bougmez & Demnate all in striking distance. A Berber tent is the location of the onsite restaurant with tables in the sunshine for a delicious breakfast.
This is a small lodging by the edge of the lake in Bin el-Ouidane. We picked it out essentially at random from the options available online, and I'm certainly glad we came. It seems to be a family operation, and they were friendly and welcoming (although there was a bit of a language barrier). Rooms were clean and seemed authentic (from my nonexistent knowledge of what is authentic in Morocco), and our tagines were spot on. We were in a rush and so did not explore the area much, but there is probably a hike to be had nearby, and a decent view.
Clean and tidy accommodation with a nice terrace overlooking the river. Very helpful staff and good home cooking; warm bread fresh from the oven. Absolutely recommended if you need a rest in the well kept garden. The place is a good starting point for a visit to the Cathedrale de Roches, or more crowded Cascades d'Ouzoud.
My husband and I spent 2 nights in late March at the wonderful Dar l'Eau Vive in Bin el-Ouidane. The setting is beautiful as it overlooks a river in the Middle Atlas. Our cozy cabin with its cute front porch was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the spectacular scenery. The fellows who run this little getaway offer great hospitality and delicious meals. Our stay here provided the perfect break as we transitioned from touring the cities in the north to the Sahara in the south and allowed us to spend a day hiking in the mountains to see the great reservoir and dam at Bin el-Ouidane. I highly recommend the charming Dar l'Eau Vive especially because it provides a unique experience off the usual tourist path. (Wifi is available in the tent where breakfast and dinner are served.)
This guest house is in a beautiful location where you can walk down to a water front area not to far away down the road. Our food was amazing and I think it was tied for best meatball tagine we had in all of Morocco! :) We ate dinner under the stars one night, very peaceful, mild climate, nice rooms with places to sit and enjoy the peace and quite outside.
Nice place to retreat to for a couple or family. Karim, Ismail and the kitchen staff were all helpful. Priced reasonably with breakfast and dinner included. Book a hike on a donkey if you can through the office. Overall, a positive experience.
My family and I arrived exhausted at 10 o'clock at night after a long drive from Fez to be met by an absolute sanctuary of beauty and tranquillity. We were shown to our immaculate room with bathroom where we slept soundly in spite of the hot night outside thanks to the fantastic air conditioning- an unexpected bonus. The kind men who showed us to our room was so welcoming, one had even come to find us on the road in the dark when we had got lost. In the morning, we woke to the most wonderful surprise, with an incredible view over a jade green river below and across to steep cliffs. Amongst the bougainvillea and other flowers we ate a delicious breakfast which we were allowed to eat late because of the time we had arrived the previous night. At no time did we feel hurried or like we were anywhere other than staying at a friend's house. The whole atmosphere of the place was wonderful and I wished we could stay longer than one night, but we lingered as long as we possibly could, walking down to the river and playing in the garden which is beautiful. l 'Eau Vive is a wonderful haven with people who go out of their way to help you and make you feel at home. It is incredibly reasonable in price considering what it offers. It is worth the fascinating windy drive to stay there, and I would even take a detour to make sure I was able to stay there again if I was anywhere near the area. Don't miss out on its charms!
We stayed in the cabin overlooking the most beautiful view of the river. Yahya was a wonderful host, the food was delicious and the setting was so peaceful. A home away from home, I wish we could have stayed longer.
