Bilbao is a beautiful city and this hotel perfect for a wonderful stay
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location near the main bus station was a huge plus for us. We just walked to the hotel from the station, saving us the expense and hassle of getting a taxi. Departing, we walked back to the station and took the dedicated airport bus for 1.45 Euro. All of the staff members that we dealt with were friendly, professional and helpful. The buffet breakfast was excellent and a real bargain. The room was extremely large and comfortable and the bathroom was very nice. I would stay here again anytime I am in Bilbao.
The hotel's exterior appearance is unimpressive but once you have stepped inside you will find a well-kept, clean and efficient facility: very clean, qood quality bedding, large and well equipped bathroom. Also, although not technically in the city center the Zubialde is a nice 10 to 15 minutes walb to the Gugenheim Museum, four minutes to the metro/ subway station, less than 10 minutes walk to the bus terminal and 5 minutes to emterprise car rental. The only negative was the very poor, unusable Internet.
This hotel is located directly next to the stadium...we happen to be there while one of the big soccer games was going on...it proved to be exciting and lots of fun. The area was clean and very safe.
I was worried that it would be noisy as they are building the new stadium right out front. I had a room at the back near the river and the noise was not a problem (and completely quiet with the windows closed) The staff were very friendly and helpful and really did seem to go out of their way. The buffet breakfast was extensive, delicious and was a special summer bargain of 7 Euros (ordered the day before). The old stadium is right across the road so I imagine it's crazy when there is a football game, perhaps a good idea to check in advance, although you probably wouldn't be able to get a room anyway. Compared to LA or NY, the price/value was incredible. Not sure how it stacks up to other Bilbao hotels, but it did feel like a deal for what it was.
