Expected more from a hotel like this... food was poor quality and not much choice for vegetarians- risotto pretty tasteless and dessert had the defrosted quality to it. The dining room staff were very hurried which does not entice you to linger over your meal if you want to. Poor lighting in bar, there did not appear to be anywhere else you could sit and read apart from your bedroom. Bedroom was clean but not warm enough. The receptionist on day of departure was very pleasant though. Shame!
We were due to stay for one weekend night. Arrived about 1pm, checkin 3pm. The manner of the receptionist was very off hand, certainly no welcoming words. The receptionist was unable to give us a map of the area or any indication if our room might be ready before the agreed 3pm checkin. The ambience was very poor. After waiting in reception for about 30 mins we decided to cancel and go elsewhere.
On arrival at this hotel the first thing that struck me was the huge cobwebs over the main entrance - surely something that should be cleaned away to give a good first impression? The receptionist was not pleasant as we were checking in. We were given a room in the annexe building which I was very shocked by considering what we were paying. Dirty window sills and skirting boards, stains all over the floor. It felt grubby and unclean. The room was boiling hot and no way of turning the heat down. This is not a luxury hotel. The wardrobe had one robe, even though we booked for two people. Other rooms I visited (as we had friends staying too) were even more filthy including mould. The bar area was ok but very small and very over priced drinks - London prices for a non-London and non-luxury venue. Food in the restaurant was ok but literally no atmosphere in the dining room. A very disappointing stay. As I checked out other guests were complaining and this was not surprising.
So very disappointed, checked in , given room 19. Up steep narrow stairs, had to duck along a corridor to get to room which was pokey and quiet frankly filthy. The bed was a three quarter and the springs were sticking into us. There where cobwebs everywhere, the blinds frayed, the carpet not hoovered, mould in shower, walls filthy, and the radiator on full bore which had been leaking. I couldn’t make this up and took pictures to prove. They told me they couldn’t move us as to full. But instantly knocked £40 off bill which still left us with 170 to pay. The up shot was we had very little sleep, a mediocre meal, and the most uncomfortable bed I have ever tried to sleep in in my 53 years. Now the duty manager John tried to help by knocking money off, but avoided us next morning as deep down I am sure he knew how bad the room was, and we would of rather had a great room as it wasn’t about the money for us, just wanted a comfortable clean room in a lovely old manor. The staff where apologetic and very pleasant but the one member of staff which I shall not name agreed off the record that we were just thrown into a room which was not fit for purpose and they where embarrassed by the situation. I am hopeful that all the rooms are not of this standard, but if they think this is the end of the matter the hotel owners and managers have not heard the last of it. So room 19 definitely avoid. This, I cannot state enough, is a totally honest and non exaggerated review with photos to prove it. We are so glad to be home.
Enjoyed a truly lovely weekend break at the Manor. A breathtaking drive in and an equally breathtaking historic property inside. We had some American friends staying with us who were simply bowled over!. Welcoming staff, good food and very individual bedrooms. I can see why a few people think it needs a touch up, some of the furnishings are a tad tired but otherwise it was lovely
We recently held our wedding at The Manor at Weston-on-the-Green and we booked the entire Hotel as part of the wedding package. We could not have chosen a better venue and neither could we have received better service throughout the entire process. It was quite simply, superb! From the very first time we visited the Hotel to assess its suitability for us until the day after our wedding, our requirements were promptly and effectively addressed, nothing seemed to be too much trouble and they made us feel very special indeed. They are clearly very experienced in wedding arrangements as their Planner meant that no small detail was forgotten or over-looked. The quality of the food at the Wedding Breakfast for our party of nearly 60 guests was exceptional and the rooms were spacious, clean and well presented. We looked at a number of other venues before selecting The Manor but none came anywhere near comparable in terms of charm, beauty and character of the building and gardens and the truly great value for money that the Wedding package offered. If I could give more than 5 Stars on this review site, I would without hesitation. I recommend it whole heartedly and I take this opportunity to thank Paul (the Manager) and his entire staff for making our day so special and memorable.
Arrived to a beautiful view... checked in, went to our room which was just what we were hoping for beautiful traditional English country room with a beautiful aspect... enjoyed drinks and dinner and a very peaceful nights rest.. After a delightful breakfast, we had coffee outside in the grounds, just lovely, we only stayed 1 night would we stay again? Absolutely! staff were all very helpful & attentive, venue beautiful, would highly recommend..
We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Manor Hotel. We booked this stay for our 50th wedding anniversary through secret escapes, and after reading the recent reviews we were a little skeptical. However, everything was perfect. From the moment we arrived, all members of staff were extremely helpful, the food was delicious, and the room was immaculate. The room we stayed in was large compared to normal hotels, and the whole building is full of character and history. Will definitely be recommending to my friends and family.
Dreadful! After a long drive we arrived at 2pm to be told we couldn't check in until 3pm so we went off to do a bit of shopping. Came back at 6pm and waited in reception for 40mins to then be told they couldnt find our room key and then that the room was still being prepared! We were finally shown to our room by the manager and it didnt have the kingsize bed we had requested - the manager mumbled something about a discount and left. The room was full of cobwebs, chipped bath, dirty shower hose and a disgusting exposed toilet brush in the bathroom! The room was above the busy bar and young children were running about on the landing outside our door. I was so disappointed and upset after a long day that we checked out and found another hotel nearby. Not a cheap place to stay - avoid avoid avoid!!
We arrived late ( 8pm ) for just one night as we were going to Silverstone the next day. On arrival in the dark the house looks stunning and I couldn’t wait to see inside . The greeting we got from the receptionist was frosty to say the least , not even a smile. We were then asked to pay in advance before we had even had a look at the room , a table was made available in the stunning panelled dining room and the food was really nice , although getting drinks was not so easy as the staff obviously wanted us gone at 8.30 as the dining room was empty. The bar was also empty and really grotty looking. Disappointingly we were put in the stable annexe in a clean but characterless room , no mini bar and no room service . Back to reception in the morning to check out , not a greeting or a smile from the stoney faced receptionist again or even a bye bye have a lovely day !!! Not a very cheery atmosphere from any of the staff , rather a miserable place on our visit I’m afraid to say . Shame as it looked so lovely and atmospheric ..
