Select Hotel Berlin Ostbahnhof

This hotel is situated 2 train stops away from Alexanderplatz. It is literally 4 mins from the train station, so although at first it seems very out of the way, as soon as you get your bearings you realise how easy it is to get to the centre. The trains come and go all the time, we tended to buy a day ticket for 7 euro and you can come and go on all the trains and trams and underground. Berlin is a huge city so everything is spaced out, def check out the zoo, really good day out. The hotel itself is very modern, clean, they have an odd setup as the shower has no privacy so if you’re not at ease with who you are sharing with it might be a problem. But I def would stay here again. Berlin itself is very cheap and the food is amazing, highly recommend it!!!

As always, my wife and I went away for our Birthdays, this year Berlin was the destination. What an hotel. For the money we paid, this place is awesome. We decided on one of the rooms that had a "kitchen". OK, one electric pan ring, one small oven and a microwave (and a table and chairs). Trust me, with the Netto just round the corner; the catering equipment supplied and a bit of cooking nous, it's dead easy to have a cheap trip to a nation's capital. The hotel is only about 500m from the Ostbahnhof - the East Berlin railway station, and, if you purchase a Berlin visitor ticket (35 Euros for 5 days when we were there), all travel on the railway; underground, commuter trains; buses and trams is included! Bargain! Breakfast is self-service, Continental in style, but you can eat as much as you like. Do it properly and you won't need lunch - although it would be remiss to be in Berlin and not eat Currywurst! Would I go here again next time I go to Berlin. That'll be a YES from me!

Cleaned and big room about 27 meters With good location Near the river of seen Near train station Alot of fast food restaurants in the train station with supermarket And some sweet shops And mobile phone service providers

Stayed here for 5 nights. Quirky , urban modern decor and interior. Bit out of the way of centre of Berlin but minutes away from train station and only 2 stops from Alexanderplatz. No nightlife within walking distance, we went to Moxys which is a cool, funky hotel . Some undesirables around station. Netto supermarket around corner . Bar closed on a Sunday and apart from open shower in bedroom! can't fault hotel at all. Good value for money, apart from 17 Euro breakfast, but plenty of cheap coffee shops in station .

I spent 3 days here last weekend and thought it was outstanding value for money. Being a business hotel, the rooms are fully loaded with some nice features and plenty of space. The sockets are logically placed for easy access. The beds and bedding are really comfortable and the showers are interesting in a good way. During the week it gets pricey to stay here, but there are some fantastic rates for people hoping to spend a long weekend in Berlin. Great location for arrivals at Berlin Schönefeld Airport as the hotel is right near Ostbahnhof station, which means it's very fast and cheap to get to and from the airport to the hotel. Just hop onto the express train at the airport and I think the journey takes about 25mins for just over 3 euros. The hotel is completely silent and cut off from the station so is a perfect place to unwind. Within walking distance there are a lot of cool bars and nightlife to be found, including Yaam along the river for a reggae vibe, or head along the river towards the centre for other funky riverside bars. For the headstrong there are 2 legendary clubs (Berghain and Tresor) nearby. I've stayed at Mercure Templehof in Berlin this year, which is another 4 star hotel and this Select hotel is by far a much better hotel in just about every way.

If you don’t use the internet this doesn’t matter at all and the hotel is good. If you do need internet for somethings then read on. Nice high ceilings and big windows but now that internet is so important for everything it’s worth mentioning that the internet isn’t very fast, the password to use it is unnecessarily cryptic and complicated, and it changes everyday so you have to go down and get a new code.

Enjoyed 3 nights here 19-22 September. Hotel isn't in the best location but only 2 stops away from Alexanderplatz so city centre is easily accessed. The room was clean and maid came everyday. Wouldn't recommend for a family or friends sharing unless you are very comfortable with each other as the open plan room means the glass shower is pretty much in the centre of the room. We had no complaints about it and found it a novelty. Lovely hotel would stay again if ever back in Berlin.

We took the junior suite and it was a decent size. The room is abit old but there bathroom was good and it was simple. The location is fantastic for the east side lovers of Berlin. Close to many clubs. It was very cold and They don't have heating in the rooms until summer is over which is after sep 21, they offered a small heater which was ok but not great. Service was very up and down, depending on the shift agents for the front desk. They didn't clean the room. Only made beds and new towels. Weird for a four star hotel. Not a bad experience but the hotel is very average.

We spent five nights at this hotel - and the bar was closed each evening. It would have been nice to have a night-cap and although reception offered wine or beer on the last two nights, that wasn't really acceptable. Apparently one barman was on holiday and another off sick. Not good enough. The room we had was nice - clean and bright and, to our delight, with a full bathroom and not the see-through shower cubicle in the middle of the room (as seemed the norm from other TA postings). Staff were friendly enough and helpful. The hotel is a little out of the tourist action but the Ostbahnhof station was just five minutes away so getting around was no problem, with the Ku'damm or Zoo station being a 20 minute S-Bahn train ride away. One last thing - the hotel is missing a trick by not doing lunch or dinner. The choice in the vicinity is limited and not everyone wants to go three or four stops on a train to get a meal.

The hotel is close to Ostbahnhof (2-3 minutes on foot). It works well for visiting Berlin wall monument, Alexander platz, Treptow park and other sights in Eastern Berlin. It's quite far from Reichstag and other places in the center. We did walk there but it took around 1.5 hours. The hotel rooms look modern and stylish, the linens are clean and the bed was good. The check in was strict after 3 PM. You need to come to reception daily in order to get wi-fi password which was not very convenient. The breakfast costs 17 euro which is quite expensive comparing to prices in Berlin cafes. One thing which surprised me was that reception staff wrote down my credit card number on a paper card which is completely non-secure and anyone can get unauthorized access to it. We live in the 21st century and it's time to use electronic databases with protected access to store guests' personal data.
