The hotel is in a good location we were able to get a tram 2mins walk away and get to loads of interesting places in Berlin. The staff were great. Friendly approachable and very helpful. I can say the best display of customer services I have witnessed in some time. Even when there was a nasty customer being very rude to the staff they still provided her with good customer service. Breakfast was a great selection from teas to fresh fruit and there was never a shortage of supply even on our last morning when the entire breakfast room was filled with customers. Room was nice clean and spacious. All you would expect and more from this brand and I would definitely return.
Holiday Inn City Centre East Landsberger Allee I have used this hotel during my recent visit to Berlin for ITB Berlin. I arrived about 13:00 and the young man at the reception told me that check in is supposed to be from 15:00, and if I want a room already, I must pay additionaly 20 EUR, I was surprised, because usually most of the hotels, specially big hotels like this, allow you to get the room when you arrive earlier than check in time, if they have rooms available, in this case, they had already available rooms,…, but just paying this additional fee…, I wanted to leave my luggage and take a shower, so I decided to pay it, but I would understand this better, regarding an extended check out, but not for an early check in. In addition, in spite of I refused from the beginning, he insisted several times, if I do not want to become a club member of Holiday Inn hotels, but I was not interested about this. The room was spacious and clean with the standard for a 4 stars hotel, excepting for the bathroom, where there was only a small soap, not shampoo or hand cream, etc.. The room had a kettel to prepare tea. Internet was for free at the rooms, but unfortunately in my room, it did not work at all, I could not connected with internet during the time I spent at the hotel, so I used one of the 2 computers they have available at the lobby. The hotel is located in a quarter of the former East Berlin, so the nearby buildings are not very pretty, but it has a good connection by tram with Alexander Platz and the most interesting parts of Berlin City centre. Regarding the breakfast, is not the kind of hotel where the breakfast is one of things you enjoy the most, but they have all the standard basic you need to start a day, and the personal of the restaurant was polite, however one thing I did not like, the restaurant was not big and considering is a hotel for groups, it was really crowded at 08:00, so I had to take my breakfast at the bar, at the elevator there is a warning about the hours, where the restaurant has higher occupancy, but they should prevent this by using another additional restaurant or looking for a bigger room for this. I could not say it was a very bad experience, but in general considering my experience at the reception during arrival and the other details I mentioned, I would rather look for another Holiday Inn, for example Holiday Inn Express Berlin City Centre where I stayed with my family in 2013, having a very good experience, than coming back to this hotel.
Enjoyed 3 night stay enjoyed a great nights sleep so quiet and fab breakfast. Transport links into city is so easy at only 7euros for a day travel ticket was so easy had a fab time. You can buy the travel ticket at the hotel just remember to validate it once board transport only exception to this if buy on the tram.
The Holiday Inn Berlin City East is a huge establissement offering an important number of rooms. It has a restaurant, a bar and public transports are running nearby the hotel. It is a good hotel for travelling with a group.
We stayed here in August 2015 for five nights. we booked as a package through expedia which was extremely reasonable. Hotel is about half an hour from the main airport but right in the centre. Right outside the hotel is a tram stop, about 5 stops to alexanderplatz. Takes 10 minutes to get to city centre with heaps to do there. Room was massive, clean and staff were helpful. We didn't eat at the hotel so i can't comment on that but we were satisfied with our room.
Breakfast is ok Room is ok Location not so much but at least near a tram station so its ok for me. My biggest problem was the internet access. They promisse "free wifi" but I only got a password valid for 2 days. After that they wanted to charge 5 EUR per day unless I joined the "IHG group". I just wanted the internet to check in to my flight but I first had to hear the guy discourse on all adantages of joining IHG. I was quite annoyed by that this. When I refused, they still gave the password for another day, so they would have given it anyway. This is just a shady scheme to force people to join IHG! If they had been more honest about it I would probably have given a better score. Please STOP!
We stayed in the hotel mainly because we wanted to visit both the Stasi Prison and the Stasi headquarters both of which are within walking distance. The attractions in the Mitte area are not within walking distance though. They are two train journeys away. The station fortunately is just across the road. There are a couple of local restaurants nearby and a decent shopping mall. Taxis into Alexanderplatz will cost €15-€17. Breakfast in the hotel has a price tag of €13 which is a gross over charge. For that you will get scrambled egg, beans, and mini burger things. There's hot drinks and juice. A few sliced meats and cheeses, cereals and pastries. The same thing in the cafe up the road is €6. The breakfast was also, frankly, terrible quality. The rooms are of a very high standard. Beds and pillows are superb. The rooms were well serviced. The TV was shocking. Virtually no English channels, most importantly the news channels. All things considered, I think, should I be visiting Berlin again, I could not stay here simply because it's too far from the main attractions. It is only worthwhile for the two Stasi attractions. This is a shame, as the hotel is more than adequate.
For me and my coach party we didn't mind it wasnt in the heart of Berlin, just somewhere to get our heads down after coming from Poland. Fantastic room as always, Breakfast included, nice friendly staff.
Location is far from city center of Berlin. Ride the tram or taxi to reach the city center. Hotel room is clean and smells fresh linens. Bed and pillows are soft and comfortable. No fridge, free bottled water inside room. Internet is not free. I availed the internet but didnt work after a while. Fitness center at the ground floor with treadmills and resistance machines. Breakfast buffet is okay.
I stayed during an exhibition period, so the high price was due to this event, but still, a lot of money for a hotel with staff not properly skilled in English; extremely poor TV programme selection, in English only RT and France 24 EN, no other languages were available, all the rest just German. East Berlin position not so easy to reach. Take a taxi or tram and then S-Bahn or U-bahn.
