Holiday Inn Berlin Airport - Conference Centre4.0 out of 5.0

We found ourselves here by defult due to our flight back to the UK being cancelled because of the snow last week. Easyjet arranged this and although we wanted to be home we found ourselves staying in a very nice hotel. Pleasant staff and all you expect from a Holiday inn. Impressed with the shuttle bus from the Airport.
Great airport hotel, friendly staff, quality food, well maintained, reliable punctual shuttle bus. Quiet and dark room, comfortable bed. New bathroom with heated floor. Wifi blistering fast in bar and corridor but very poor in room, in fact unusable in some rooms.
We ended up staying here due to cancellation of our flight with easy jet due to crew issues then unfortunately weather in Glasgow was under blizzard conditions. Very stressful situ however we after standing for hours in a queue with our fellow passengers received hotel accommodation and another flight. Hotel room was very comfortable have no faults on this one, food on first evening was really nice and I thought good this isn’t so bad. However for some reason the hotel on second/third night decided the lay overs (as we were named) were not good enough to join the restaurant and they decided to set up in corridor a make shift buffet of cheap food and a seating area in a conference room!! To be honest regardless the hotel would be reimbursed by easyJet so we were technically paying guests but the hotel decided we were not good enough to join the main guests, it was very disappointing to be honest and the feeling of being unwelcome was overwhelming!! Not be returning I am afraid to this hotel, for me the proof in good customer service is when things don’t go right and how a hotel manages it. Whoever made the decisions on this occasion got it very wrong!! Shame on you.
Have stayed here a few times consistantly good service . Great Staff Close to Airport have used shuttle service depending on the time I'm travelling no problem . Restaurant has good Steak and the breakfast is good .
The best thing is that this hotel offers free Shuttle bus to/from the Airport. First checked inn to the room where was some problems with a heating system, but without any problems we changed the room later on. New room was much better... seamed newly refurbished. Small, but very comfortable. Bathroom with a heated floor , soft bed &good pillows, working desk, tea facilities.
Stayed here following a flight cancellation. Very nice hotel with good sized rooms and a nice bar. Really enjoyed the evening meal provided and the buffet breakfast was also very good, including full English options. Staff were also friendly and helpful. However, this hotel is some distance from the airport and train station so you have to rely on the half hourly shuttle to get there and back. Unfortunately this proved not to be reliable for us. We waited at the Holiday Inn stop at the train station from 22.10 until 22.40 in the freezing cold and the bus never turned up. Worse, we called the number provided to request a pick up three times and each time the person on the other end hung up on us, though, admittedly, the line was so bad that we were having great difficulty understanding each other. It didn't help that the agent didn't seem to speak English and my German is broken to say the least. Ended up having to pay 10 Euro to get a taxi, not great when we had already overspent due to having to stay an extra day. Couldn't even speak to reception about this issue as they were overwhelmed, though coping manfully, with stranded passengers the airlines had sent who they seemed unable to accommodate. Will stay at the Intercity on our next visit to Berlin simply because of the shuttle issue. This is a better hotel but the Intercity is good value and much more convenient.
We had one night stay here when our flight back to the U.K. was cancelled. There is a free shuttle bus to the airport (we used the cabs though). I was pleasantly surprised at how nice this was for a HI. I would never stay in one but this was exceptional for the brand. Clean, spacious, pretty (especially in the snow). Staff in the bar were so nice (a lady and a guy, wish I could remember their names!). They were helpful and funny. My son was outside making a snowman and we had drinks in the bar. Breakfast was ok. Lots to choose from. Staff were a bit rude. Great for an overnight stop but definitely not for a holiday hotel. Beds were so comfortable here.
Small room for two. breakfast and restaurant was wonderful. Wifi was intermittent so could not work well. Reception service to be improved. Some could not speak or understand English or took too long to provide request for items, not helpful when asked for taxi booking or nearest doctor etc. Had to take shuttle to train station for taxi as reception did not want to book for us a taxi directly. Had to find doctor ownself.
Stopped in Berlin for business overnight and stayed in this IHG hotel. The hotel itself is quite nice and well maintained. The rooms are very modern and clean. Had lunch at the hotel bar and the chicken club was fantastic. Only negative is the hotel reception. Not sure if they are understaffed but only one person was working the front desk and there was 4 people waiting to check in/out and the phone was ringing non stop. Price was a little high for one night but expected being so close to the airport and city center.
The room was fine and very clean. The hotel itself was exactly what you'd expect. Upon arrival I needed a late lunch and the pizza and beer was excellent. However, dinner in the restaurant wasn't so good. Not overly expensive but pretty much confirmed all the reasons I prefer to eat out rather than in the hotel.
