This small hotel is well located.large rooms nice bathrooms. Breakfast very good.the hotel is not modern but has plenty of charm. Highly recommended and good value for money.only slow wifi was an issue.
We used Heckers on the recommendation of fellow travel pros and were very impressed. My room was huge, decor a little out dated but the truly wonderful staff made me feel so very at home that I am booking my next trip to Berlin already. I cannot say enough about how friendly, helpful and of course efficient every aspect of the stay was. Thank you team Heckers.
We are currently staying in room 314 and let me tell you, it's enormous. I booked a comfort double room which I assume has been upgraded as looking on the floor plan this is by far the biggest room on the 3rd floor! It has a huge king bed, a sofa, desk and small table and chairs. There is also a separate room for the safe and mini bar. The mini bar isn't too expensive really, well not in comparison to our previous hotel (Adlon Kempinski at Brandenburg tor). We are booked to stay here for three nights and find it very reasonably priced. There are a few issues though that would make our stay better. One is that there are no tea and coffee making facilities, second is there are no English TV channels other than news, third is the overpriced breakfast that is worth half of the price they charge. I suggest going elsewhere for breakfast as there are plenty of places in the area! The staff seem fine but not great, they could do with acting a little more hospitable. I suggest schildkroete just down the road for a traditional German dinner! We had pork knuckles and bratwurst and it was delicious :) Overall Hecker's hotel is lovely and with the above comments I would give them 7.5/10.
My wife and I have just returned from our second visit to Berlin (came here same time last year) Excellent location near a Main Railway Station Zoo Gatten serving central Berlin and the surrounding areas and the fast train to the Airport (40 mins ) about a 10 min walk from the hotel. other local underground and railway lines stations are closer. Just off the main road (shopping and restaurants nearby - please see my other reviews on food in the local vicinity) It is remarkably quiet in terms of outside noise. As we got the early morning flight and late flight out we were able to leave our luggage in the Reception area so that we could explore Berlin. We had the same spotless room, and the selection of breakfast is varied and very good - Staff are lovely and very friendly. My wife and I think for the location (middle of the main upmarket Shopping area / quality of the room - we had Room 209 Superior Queen Double room and breakfast it is an excellent value Hotel to use as a base to visit Berlin and the surrounding areas. We are thinking of visiting Berlin again next year (maybe a bit later than Feb so it is warmer and hopefully sunnier and will stay at Heckers again. Thanks Heckers Hotel for another lovely stay
Was surprised with this hotel the room was massive was bigger than a lot of apartments. It was pleasant place the stay staff were nice, we didn't use any of the facilities but you didn't need to the great thing was the location you are very near the underground, overground and bus station and so much places near by. Would stay again
Location is great, right off the Kurfurstendamm, which is a terrific street to stay near...my room was excellent, no complaints...I did not partake in the breakfast or restaurant which I think was attached...and if you would like to wind down in the lobby, it is very tiny, about 3 or 4 chairs, not much doing...my only complaint lies in the front desk staff...I arrived in the early afternoon, as expected my room was not ready, which was no problem...the gal offered to take my suitcase and keep it while I explored the city and returned later...when I returned later, there were two gals working the desk...I identified myself; one of the gals (the younger of the two) handed me my key and said, "your room is on the 4th floor." That was it! No direction toward the elevator, no explanation about breakfast, the restaurant, what number to dial if I need anything, literally, NOTHING ELSE...I thought this was unacceptable, and my thoughts were confirmed when I checked out of this hotel after 3 nights (which is all my reservation was for), and checked into a nearby hotel for my last 2 nights. When I checked into that hotel, the man that checked my in spent 15 minutes with me talking about where to go in the city, tours I may be interested in, information about the hotel, etc...I walked away thinking, "now that is how a guest should be communicated with upon arrival." In the end, I would definitely stay here again, as one employee's shortcomings do not a hotel make. Again, room was terrific.
Easy to find and excellent location. Taxi cost us 50 Euros from the airport. There is the Subway a 4 minute walk away, plus lots of shops and restaurants and bars and lovely Christmas lights on the street. The hotel is also very lovely upon first impression. We landed early (9am) into Berlin from the UK and I had emailed previously asking if we could check-in a little earlier as 3pm was a bit late. I received no response, and when I mentioned this to the girl on reception she was most unhelpful. This is meant to be a 3/4 star hotel right? Even Travelodge have tried in the past to accommodate early check-in requests for us!! She simply said 'no' and didn't seem interested in helping us further and when I asked whether my email had been received: 'I don't know.' She also didn't explain what time breakfast was, what our room number would be when we did actually check-in, information on the location/hotel... basically she couldn't care less which is a shame. When we did come back that night to check-in, another young girl said: 'Oh there's your bags' and didn't even give us a room key I had to ask!! She also did not offer information to us, I thought this was meant to be offered to guest? It is advertised all over the hotel... anyway the room was nice and large, a little too hot so we opened the window. Free water, mini bar was typical expensive price. Free body gel but that's it. We slept okay I guess and went down to breakfast. I did not like it, everything was too rich for my liking and creamy and unhealthy. When we checked out we could leave our bags which was a good point I thought. It is just a shame that we were treated so badly by everyone except the gentleman on reception which I believe is the manager - he was charming and polite.
I have stayed at Hecker's three or four times and plan to always make it my home in Berlin. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff is always ready to help with details on travel. The location can't really be beat. It's just off the K-dam and therefore convenient to buses that travel throughout the city (and to Tegel Airport). If you don't know Berlin you can take the S-Bahn at nearby Savigny-Platz. There are many fine restaurants in the neighborhood; my favorite (see my review) is Zillenmarkt.
Great hotel to use as a base as it is perfectly situated for anywhere in Berlin. Room are spacious, clean and very reasonable. We didn't eat on the hotel as there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The restaurant next door serves Greek food and is one of the friendliest places I have ever eaten! The plate smashing was a great surprise. Good place to stop and we hope to return.
My forth stay in Hecker’s was perfect as always. You can’t beet the location. Highly professional service, grate breakfast, large and functional rooms. Everyone and everything was perfect. Thanks and see you soon.
