I arrived at the hotel at 11 am on a Sunday morning (21 May) and was delighted to be informed by a friendly and charming young lady that my room was ready. I really wasn't expecting it to be ready until the afternoon. The room itself was surprisingly large, very clean and comfortable with a modest, simple décor. I liked it immediately. For such a central location, the room was extremely quiet, peaceful and restful. In terms of location, if you wish to view the sights of Berlin, this is without par. It is just off the Kurfurstendamm, one of the central Berlin boulevards, and within walking distance of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church (a very moving memorial to the horrors of war), and the Europa Centre. In addition, sightseeing tours start around the corner where Line 1 of the underground is also situated. I am glad I booked breakfast as this was excellent too - a wide range of juices, cereals, breads, cold meats, cheeses, salads etc. In short, I would recommend this hotel unreservedly. I feel I got value for money and I would certainly return. The reception staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful.
Large room, modern decor, clean very nicely finished bathroom. Good wifi too. The location is ideal, just 2 minutes from the Savignyplatz S-Bahn, and 2 minutes from Kurfurstendamm. Reception staff are friendly.
Nice hotel in a very nice district with S and U bahn stations in view of hotel entrance. We very much enjoyed our stay here and in Berlin as a whole. It was cold whilst we were there and the heating was on low in the hotel. Although this was needed no doubt, our room, although very large with a high ceiling got a bit stuffy at night so we left the windows open to get some fresh air. Problem was that in the morning, people walking past going to work, deliveries, Dustbin lorries etc were operating outside and this woke us up. We overcome this by leaving the windows open in our room until we actually got into bed when we then closed them. This worked and we slept well for the rest of our stay. However, i can see that this might be a problem when the summer temperatures come as there was no air conditioning and windows need to be left open all night.I imagine that the room would get quite warm even with the windows open. The only other minus with the hotel was there was NO kettle/tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Although breakfast was from 6.00am until 11.00am, it really is a must that you can make a tea/coffee in the room whilst getting ready for breakfast and i cannot remember when i was last in a hotel where this was not possible. By the way, The breakfast was really quite good, not really a full English but what was on offer, i enjoyed as a nice change. (probably more healthy too). The breakfast staff were superb ( as were all the staff i saw in the hotel) and i was happy to give them a tip when i left Generally, things seemed cheaper than at home although there were the usual extremes depending where you went. Two things bugged me about Berlin. 1. Always having to pay 50 cents to use the WC, where ever we went including more often than not, if you went into some bars, coffee or otherwise and purchased a drink. We were out all day and into the evening and I was astonished how much we spent over the 6 days on WC use. 2. The amount of stairs in Berlin, mainly at the S bahn stations. ( the S bahn was generally elevated). There were some small lifts but not being local, we only saw them by chance. Some of the big stations are on 5/6 levels. By the end of the day, we were knackered, going up and down stairs plus all the other walking required during the course of our visit. However, nothing i have said detracts from the pleasure we got from our visit and i look forward to returning to Berlin AND Heckers Hotel again
First visit to Berlin and what a fantastic hotel! Right in the heart of a very busy shopping street and easy access to a hop on/off tour bus which gets you around the city and very cheap! Room was very spacious and clean! Staff very friendly and great breakfast. Contacted to put flowers in room which they did and was great value for €20 Look forward to coming back 5* 100% Thank you for an amazing stay
Lovely hotel! Big rooms and decent beds. At the great Kürfurstendamm, a great location to live in. Clean. Good service, could leave our bags there after checkout. No complains from me. Just positive. Good staff.
Perfect location- a short walk from the bus stop on Ku dam where the Tegel airport bus 109 stops. Also underground stop here and at the top of the street an S train station. Lots of good places to eat nearby and a short walk to some of the sights. Hotel itself is staffed by friendly helpful individuals who are also happy to give you a German lesson if asked! Our room was great- an entrance hall with bathroom off led into the large bedroom complete with a seating area and walk in wardrobe.
Having stayed near Potsdamer Platz the last time we visited, we decided to move out of the City a bit and decided on the Charlottenburg area of Berlin in the old West Berlin. The hotel was really well situated - just off Kurfürstendamm, the main shopping street of Berlin with lots of bars and restaurants near by. The hotel itself was quite small, but very good quality and friendly staff. There was not many amenities in the hotel, but our room (a superior double) was huge with a separate walk-in wardrobe. As usual, the hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful - our travel plug adaptor wouldn't fit, but the gentleman at reception lent us one that did, which saved us a lot of hassle. We didn't use any of the hotel's restaurants, although the Mediterranean restaurant attached looked very nice. If you go, check out Diener Tattersall bar/restaurant 100m up the road - very quaint old place with loads of ambience. Would recommend this hotel as a place to go - it's a bit of a hike into the main tourist attractions, but, as ever, German public transport means that everywhere is accessible and at a reasonable price.
This hotel is situated very close to the Ku damn so is in an excellent location for sight seeing, eating out, bars, etc. The room was very large with a walk - in wardrobe and lovely bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel
Nothing wrong with this hotel - good location, clean, functional: hold it! That's just it: we're led to believe that it is a nice boutique hotel with lots of character. Well, it isn't that, but instead a no frills business hotel. And no frills means a just about adequately equipped bathroom, breakfast in the entrance hall... But service was friendly, rates are ok for city center and if you just want to kip there for 2 or 3 nights, it's fine.
This small hotel is well located.large rooms nice bathrooms. Breakfast very good.the hotel is not modern but has plenty of charm. Highly recommended and good value for money.only slow wifi was an issue.
