Super 8 - Bellingham Airport/Ferndale

2.0 out of 5.0

Our initial room had an awful smell upon entry. The window was open to assist in "airing it out" hotel staff were helpful in getting us another room. The hotel was a bit seedy and had quite a few loiterers in the lobby with luggage inquiring about a decrease in room pricing at all hours. Cleanliness of room was 1-2 out of 10. There were items left in the room from previous lodgers (that we turned into the front desk) and quite a bit of loose hair in the bathroom. We were told that Refinery workers stay long periods of time in the rooms often, creating a slow turnover and loud activity throughout the hotel at all hours. The price for the area is lower than most hotels but didn't make up the difference with the lack of cleanliness.

long work hrs called for room and it was ready when i got there

Nice and quiet and close to restaurants big rooms

A place to sleep, that's how I view this hotel. ***Why is the computer telling to write more when this was just a place to lay over after a long day on the road?

I would have rated our experience higher but I had to give housekeeping demerits for not cleaning our room despite having displayed the "clean me" placard on the door. We returned late to our room for the second night of our stay to find that housekeeping had not done their job. It was a minor inconvenience but it would have been nice to have had the coffee and cups replenished. Fortunately, there were ample clean towels and a second night's sleep on the same sheets certainly didn't hurt us. I suspect this was an unusual oversight on the part of the housekeeping staff.

Overall was a good. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was not the best

We were in Ferndale for the Scottish Highland Games. Motel was not fancy but was OK for a two night stay. We were not in the room until evenings. Truck noise was not an issue for us as some had expressed because we were at the end closest to the entrance but rooms at the far end have truck traffic going by 24/7. We were next to the laundry room so it was a bit noisy but acceptable. The breakfast was OK but crowded as the dining area was small. It was close to the games so would stay there again. Close to Denny's. McDonald's, and Subway.

I was pleased to learn the dogs are accepted. Room was very clean, bathroom spotless, shower was close to sparkling clean as I would except it) Towels bright white. Location worked well for me.Gas station,Wendys for a quick bite, comp.breakfast in the not overcrowded nook. The hotel is perfect for what it intended to be.Simple, clean, convenient, priced well, will be back.

Location and staff were great. Right off the freeway. Unfortunately the walls are SUPER thin and you can hear everything around you. I heard my neighbor's tv word for word. I heard their conversations word for word. And while sleeping I heard the old man snoring to the point I couldn't sleep. I even put toilet paper in my ears and it still didn't block the sound coming from the room next door. There is also some odd fertilizer smell that got trapped in the hallway so opening the door gave a rush of methane. It was strong outside so don't know where it was coming from or how often it happens. Also the motel is right outside of a truck refueling center so one side has trucks coming and going all night long. Not worth the price in my book. I got 2-3 hours sleep in the 8 hours I tried to.

Clean room, small but comfortable. Beds are double not queen but mattress was comfortable . Sink drained very slowly and small shallow bath. This motel is a truck stop at the rear so Truckers reffers were running all night so a bit noisy from the trucks in the back facing rooms - breakfast very basic with no fruit , eggs or meat however waffles that you make yourself were good and breakfast room fairly clean kept. Overall good value for what you get - pool/ spa added to that value

Bed was extremely hard and only had 2 thin pillows.

I was very happy with my stay and will recommend Super 8 to anyone I know. Was very happy that there was a Denny's right next door !!!! Great not to have to drive to have a meal. Many thanks Always D

We were there for a family wedding. We arrived late and our reservation was still being held and it had things we were looking for in a hotel. Close to the freeway and it especially had a breakfast available since we were leaving early in the day and did not want to go looking for a restaurant and pay for a meal.

We had a wonderful time. The Super 8 is a nice place. One thing though- The 2 Queen size beds WERE NOT Queen size. They were DOUBLE beds. Why are they advertised as Queens?? Sincerely, Mary

Poor Customer Service, Poor Business Operations. My daughter accidently left her pillow when we checked out. When we discovered it the next day, we both called & requested they mail the pillowcase (no pillow) to her (she's in Bellingham w/o a car; we're out of state.) They would, for a fee. When I attempted to explain the customer service benefits of mailing a pillowcase ($1.00 postage) in return for future business (we've visited the area 3 times in the last 2 mos (average 3 nights ea stay), the manager stated they "are not in the business of mailing stuff for free." There a numerous other hotel options in the area. In this economy, stay somewhere that wants your business. We won't return.

This was a family vacation. The Hotel staff was great. Coffee available 24/7 in lobby. Clean rooms. Didn't have time to use the pool/jacuzzi but it looked fine. Only complaint was the small, thin towels. Location was good for day trips. View of Mt Baker from stairwell. Enjoyed a beautiful sunset at Birch Bay (which was recommended by the staff). Gave a 4 star because for the price...can't be beat!

the hotel was located near restaurants, gas stations, and stores. Some of the staff were unfriendly as well as the wait staff at Denny's next door. I was in the area for my son's graduation, so probably won't be going back to that area again!

Great for commuting to Vancouver and also enjoying the local area

My husband & I were in town to attend a wedding. We were able to check in, in a timely manner, so that we could change out of our travel clothes and into formal attire. Loved that! Our only negative comment is that there was a lot of ambient noise. Good food, excellent front desk help, clean comfortable room.

Spent the weekend playing Senior Softball at Pioneer Park, just blocks from the hotel. Great location , very convenient, and near all shopping and food facilities.

Sorry, for the lack of details our housekeepers paid attention to. I will definitely tell them this so we can improve our service for our guest. Thank you for staying with us. We look forward to seeing you again.
