Good breakfast. Roomy rooms, actually we had two rooms with a bed in each room. They were comfy. There was a door to the outside which we were able to use. Seemed like people were living there. Had to ask for ice. Had a microwave and frig in the room.
I have stayed at many hotels and travel a lot. Not a diva and need a fancy room, this trip was just looking for a clean cheap room where we could sleep. Well first of all, should have been a red flag when I walked into the lobby actually reeked like someone was smoking drugs. Couple scrubby looking guys at the lobby. Sketchy guy sitting by the elevelator. We just felt very unsafe with the people wondering around, several people smoking drugs inside the hotel. no screens on the window, no air conditioner. THE room key says clearly use your deadbolt at all times but the room didn't have a deadbolt. This hotel is rated at 2.5 stars on Hotwire, we left and went to another 2.5 star and it was 20 x nicer and safer,as was the one star we slept in the last night Do yourself a favor, keep scrolling past the orca Inn. First pic stains all over carpet. Second no deadbolt on door ,third pic what it reads on room keys keeping in mind no deadbolt on door
My family wanted a place to stay over for the night in our way to Canada and we thought this might be a good option. The good: Friendly staff. Good prices. Had fridge and microwave in room Free breakfast The bad: Filthy carpets Burned out light bulbs Broken fixtures. Dirt and grime on doors and surfaces Smoke alarm unplugged and in closet Heater doesn’t work. Fireplace doesn’t work. No drapes on the windows.
The Ocra Inn, is the best place I have ever stayed. It's better then any hotel. they treat you so good there, they treat you like your family, anything you need, they will do it. The owner, the manager, and the staff our the nicest people I have ever met. It's home away from home. On Thanksgiving and Christmas they provided a free dinner for everyone in the hotel. They have a free breakfast everyday and ut's so good, and housekeeping is on it. The owner and manager have your back and security. It's a very safe place and I will come back.
DO NOT STAY HERE! HEALTH HAZARD! DIGUSTING, NASTY, GROSS, REPULSIVE, TRASHY, BUGS, DRUGS, PROSTITUTES, HOMELESS PEOPLE EVERYWHERE, DRUG DEALER, PEOPLE SHOOTING UP IN TMBRIAD DAYLIGHT OUTSUE THEIR ROOMS!! Absolutely this was beyond the worst imaginable hotel you could possibly think of!!! NOTHING like the we website!! I have video. Where do I start?! Used bandaid in the tub, broken toilet seat, no lights in the bathroom, door wouldn't close all the way, sooooo sooooo many stains on the floor. Lamps wouldn't work, microwave and fridge broken, no coffee pot or cups for coffee. Used shampoo and soap in bathroom, no running hot water in the sink. Smoke detector was disabled and laying on the table!!! Looked like someone puked on the floor!! Holes in the walls, towel bar broke and laying on the floor. I still cant get over the nastiness of the carpet/ floor. Put shoes on table so roaches wouldnt crawl in them at night. Did I mention the used bloody bandaid in the tub?!! Other people hair EVERYWHERE!! NOTE: THIS WAS THE FAMILY SUITE!!!! $127 night!!! Wth!!! Booked this through hotels.com. sent them video , hopefully they remove this site! Also, no one answers the phones and doesnt return calls!!
The Orca Inn is an interesting small place. It is the mobile units that housed the workers for the clean up efforts after the Exon Valdez oil spill. We stayed in the smallest of the rooms offered. It was sort of like a very tiny college flashback. The rooms are clean and well layed out for a tiny space so it works foe two people. The employees were all very friendly and efficient. We would stay here again however if looking to spend more than a week, a larger room might be a better option.
We stayed at the Orca Suites for 2 nights. The staff was friendly, however this is not a place I would stay again. There were a lot of things about this place that were not quite right. If it just would have been one thing, it wouldn’t have been a big deal, but when combined they add up to not the greatest experience. The outside of the hotel has a lot of random stuff/debris that does not give a good impression. There was a broken screen door, a cinderblock and dead potted plants outside of the entrance. We stayed in a King suite. The room seemed clean but the carpet was very stained so it gave the impression that it wasn’t clean. The armoire in the room was sticking into the doorway about 8 inches. It was odd because it blocked the temperature gage. It appeared that it was moved and then not moved back. When looking out the window more debris could be seen on the side of the hotel. We switched rooms after the first night because our room was by the stairs and at 2am people came back from the bars and spent about a half hour talking & laughing loudly in the lobby/hallway. The following morning we asked for a room farther from the stairs. The staff apologized and was very nice about giving us a room farther away. The 2nd room had a King Bed but also a double bed in the first room of the suite. The mattress and boxspring of the double bed were just sitting on the floor – no bed frame. We weren’t using this bed, but again found this odd. Carpet was very stained in this room as well, in addition to 2 out of 3 lightbulbs out in the bathroom. I could go on, but you get the idea. It is an extended stay hotel for workers who are staying for a length of time. If this is you or if you don’t mind the things mentioned, then you will be fine. FYI, the hotel is right next to the highway so if the noise of the interstate bothers you, this would not be the place for you. If we had to do over again we would stay in Bellingham – more options for lodging and food. Suggestion for the hotel – everything mentioned is fixable, maybe you need more staff in order to keep up with the maintenance both inside and outside.
Room was most spacious. 2 king beds, walk in shower, fireplace, 2 flat screen TVs (one in bedroom and one in living room, freezer refrigerator combination 28 cu ft, kitchenette, sofa, chairs end table. Think this room was two rooms combined to make a suite. Rm119. Place has court yard with gazebo which had two barbecues (one charcoal and one propane) picnic table and chairs that stretched the length of the odd room numbers of the hotel. Even though it's on the side road next to I5 it's perpendicular to it and no highway noise was heard. For 83.04 with tax for 2 adults a real value.
The hotel is excellent for the price. I am from Bellingham and I travel a lot. I travel from the Orient to here 3-4 times a year. I prefer Orca Inn over any hotels in Bellingham especially on Samish Way. The rooms are clean and the beds are good. It's safe and I like the family friendly services. For the price, service can't be beat. I have stayed in all of the Ferndale hotels and most in Bellingham and I find this hotel more user friendly and the customer service level that is beyond your average expectations. The customer service level is very good.
I've stayed here twice, and will do it again. It was clean, safe, cheap, and dog-friendly. For those reasons, I'll stay there again. But there are some really odd things that seem like could be easily fixed. The breakfast was terrible. There's a nice big accommodating breakfast room, but both times I've stayed there, coffee availability was chancy. Choices were extremely limited, and my bagel was moldy. Milk pitcher was empty. There was cereal but no spoons. There were two plates...just things that could so easily be remedied. I would rather them do just a really great muffin and coffee selection rather than this half-hearted spead-out attempt. Also, the owner is a very accommodating wonderfully friendly person, and we've met him at both locations. The other workers don't carry the same friendly and accommodating feel, but the owner is a person I feel good supporting with my money. Overall, besides the breakfast and a few things that could be improved on (bedding, soap, toilets that sometime act up...) it is our "go to" place in Bellingham.
