This hotel opened more than 10yrs, service was inline Holiday Inn Express standard. the room not big but was clean. hotel provide shuttle bus, so can easy to get Tec-Zone. The luch buffee cost 38RMB per person, it's value for money.
On my first business trip to China, I stayed here for 4 nights. It was close to my venue, had easy access to the bus line, was in a nice area and had very good service. Rooms were comfortable with a few "western" amenities like a bath wash cloth. The breakfast buffet was incredible with lots of Chinese and some American. Beds were comfortable (not hard). Personnel spoke enough English to make one comfortable. The neighborhood was easily accessible with some parks, restaurants and venues. It was close to many businesses and institutes. Hope to stay here again.
I had meetings in the NW corner of Beijing as well as downtown and decided to stay here. Price was good. Service was excellent. Breakfast was very good. About a 5-10 minute walk to the metro which was totally fine. Metro takes about 1 hour to get downtown. About 1 hour 20 minutes from the airport by metro. Plenty of places to eat around there. If I go back to Beijing I would have no problem staying there again.
I have visited China 2 times and I have to admit that most of Chinese people are so rude. But this hotel change my opinion. The best thing about this hotel is their staff. No.1 in giving service to the guests. They are so helpful, friendly and their English are really good! One of the staff (I dont remember her name), even helped me to catch the taxi driver in the road since the taxi driver could not reach the lobby hotel because it was traffic jam there. She was so nice (dear manager of holiday inn express beijing shangdi, you should reward all your staffs there. they were so nice in helping me) The food? it was good. They wrote the menu in English so I can easily avoid pork because I am a Muslim. The only minus thing is the location of this hotel is not really good. It was far from the center of city. I chose this because this hotel located near my client's office. You can easily reach this hotel from the airport by using airport express. then stop at Dongzhimen station. After that you transfer to yellow line to shangdi station. when you exit from shangdi station, walk to the right side. just walk straight around 800m, the hotel will be in the left side, it is located at a big crossroads. If you plan to stay in shangdi area, I strongly recommend this property. And, the price is reasonable too. I love this hotel.
Our stay during xmas day was for a full day rest before going to the airport at 2am the next morning... comfortable beds but heater too hot. Had to open the windows and let polluted air in. Surrounding areas are not very impressive and no where to go actually. View from the window is drab. Bathroom quite complete with goid hot water. However there is a glass cube tile wall which is quite see-through! We ate at the restaurant in the hotel. Not many food choices. Mostly chinese style. People at the counter are helpful and nice. Helped us call taxi to the airport with no issue
The worst experience ever. We had booked two rooms on the hotel official website and was clearly shown on the reservation and receipt. We found that only one room was booked when we arrived which was not really a big deal if that's only a system error. Not good for a chain hotel though. Instead of getting two rooms for us (which shouldn't be much hassles as I paid for the walk in rate on the website!) the staff tried to convince all of us to stay in a room. After negotiating for more than an hour, and till after midnight, we were given two rooms. I don't see the difficulty there for just getting two rooms, even only for the first night at midnight, for the fully flexible rate paying guests! We are here for a meeting and we were all exhausted and didn't have time to prepare details. The next day, our card didn't work and we were told that we were given a card of a different room on a different floor !!! I don't recommend anyone staying here unless you feel safe after hearing this. The service and the security are unacceptable. Price is good for a business hotel though and quite unfortunately there are no other hotels in that area (try to stay further) .
Good hotel with to a low price. Nice and tidy. OK breakfast. Nice staff. Close to shopping. About 1h car ride from central Beijing and less than 1h from the airport. Lots of restaurants in the neighborhood.
Stale cigarette smoke saturated my non-smoking room. This was not a smell that could have been expelled by opening the window, it was the accumulation of years of smoking. This is despite the sign at the entrance of the room stating "A cleaning fee of RMB 400 will be added to your bill for smoking in this room." This hotel does not live up to the standards of the Holiday Inn Express in the USA. This hotel has a dingy, musty, over-used feel. The breakfast was fine, but if you don't like savory Chinese food for breakfast, you will have limited choices. There is not much around this hotel, unless you are working at the tech park nearby. The Shangdi metro station is about a 5 minute walk.
Room is very clean, hotel is very quiet I did not hear anything, staffs are very helpful to help their guests, a good restaurant is just beside the hotel (Xiang Show). Internet speeds and breakfast choices could be improved though. But they are not important. I will definitely go back when I have a business trip in Beijing.
