I've stayed in Wudaokou numerous times and this was the best hotel I've ever stayed at in the area. Rooms are clean, staff is friendly and room service was good. Good choice if you're looking to stay in this are of Beijing. It's close to the Summer Palace and a few underground stations so it's really easy to get around from here.
It's a Holiday Inn, so the quality of the facility is fine. However, the staff are very inexperienced. it was difficult to get assistance, ie waiting in lobby lounge for a waitress etc. The Concierge was not helpful with getting a taxi.
Just finished a week-long stay at this hotel. Overall, probably the best western option near Tsinghua. Very clean, modern, efficient, good service. Location is good for Tsinghua, but a bit out of the way for sight-seeing (although there is a metro stop nearby). The hotel itself is very nice - big lobby, very clean, modern. Much, much nicer and fancier than the average Holiday Inn in the U.S. The room was very clean, modern, with all of the conveniences. Not sure how old this hotel is, but it felt quite new - furnishings, bathroom, etc. all felt quite up to date and new. Location is, as mentioned above, pretty good for Tsinghua, but perhaps not as good for sightseeing. About a 15 minute walk from Tsinghua's east gate, so pretty convenient. Not much right around the hotel, as it is surrounded by large streets, although about a 10 minute walk will get you to some restaurants and stores. There is a metro stop nearby, so if you don't mind taking the metro or cabs, it should be pretty easy to get to the sights. But the area right around the hotel isn't that exciting. Food was generally quite good. The breakfast (included in my rate) was quite good - a nice buffet with lots of western and eastern options. Not super luxe, but quite solid and tasty, with enough variety that after a week, I wasn't too bored. Room service was extremely prompt (less than 15 minutes) and quite reasonable. I didn't try the Indian restaurant, though it seems to be well-reviewed. Service was also quite good. A decent number of staff spoke English, and I never had any trouble with language issues, as is sometimes the case with other hotels. Service was always professional and friendly. The hotel seems to cater to South Asian clients, so there were a number of South Asian employees who spoke english. All in all, quite a good option for folks visiting Tsinghua and the businesses surrounding it.
Me and a friend visiting Beijing in April and didnt intend to overspend on our hotel but also didnt want to skrimp. The holiday in was a great middle ground to go with. The hotel is modern, clean, welcoming and the staff are friendly. The room was big and spacious, the beds were bigger than a single which was great and there was a pretty good view out the window. The room also provided lots of toiletries in case you forgot anything. Downsides - the staff on the desk don't talk much English, but there is other attendants from India that do and they are alot of help. The area the hotel is located in, doesn't have much. However Wudokao area is 10-15 minute walk away with tons of restaurants and shops for any meal of the day. We went every morning for breakfast, so be prepared to walk for food or water as that is where the nearest supermarket is too. The room was hot as hell, the aircon was awful and I had some very sweaty nights. Luckily the duvet was thin so was just about bearable. Limited English tv channels. The airport is 45-60 minutes away depending on traffic. Which is not far really. And only cost us about 200 rmb. Overall it is a good hotel, there is a gym, a swimming pool and a decent bar down stairs. It was safe and requires a key to go above the ground floor. The rooms were turned down flawlessly and we always felt welcome. They also helped us arrange our transport to the great wall. The hotel isn't located that central in the city. So be prepared to use the metro to get around. For example getting to the 798 art district will take an hour or so using the metros. No biggie. I loved the metros. Also the mini bar is a little expensive. Stock up on snacks and water at the supermarket in Wudokao which is underneath the big shopping centre.
Having previously stayed at the Holiday Inn Haidian, I was sure of what to expect. I had given the hotel a glowing recommendation after my first visit and It was an obvious choice for my latest trip to the city. I covered the major areas of the hotel in my previous review, however I will focus on the things I didn't touch on last time. such as the concierge service, this time I was with a friend and we were pleased to be able to arrange al our day excursions through the extremely friendly and helpful concierge staff o the ground floor. They provided us with recommendations which save us a lot of hassle, and meant we had a more enjoyable visit to the great wall, so hats off to them! We also had an issue with the cash machine in the lobby which meant we had contact the bank in china, and the staff behind the front desk were fantastic in helping us liaise and resolve the issue quickly. They have recently finished the construction of a new subway station about 100 meters away from the hotel, this was a massive help and improvement to the overall convenience of the hotel from my last visit. Overall I'm pleased to say the facilities in the hotel have maintained the quality I had remembered, and the service and convenience seems to have improved!
A nice business hotel with clean rooms and facilities, but not much stood out. Biggest downside was its location--a bit isolated and few restaurants nearby. Qinghua U. and Wudaokou, two major locations in the area, are too far to walk to, and need to talk taxi anyway. So not particularly recommend this hotel.
Wasn’t expecting anything much from the Holiday Inn brand but this hotel is great. Good room, good staff and good breakfast. Perfect for a quick overnight trip, provided you have meetings nearby as the traffic is permanently terrible.
Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Large rooms in quite American style. Location quite central to university. The best thing was the excellent breakfast buffet with a wealth of Asian food, but also western standards. I can highly recommend this hotel.
Nice, modern Holiday Inn located on the outskirts of Beijing. Chose the hotel primary for it location to the university that my daughter is attending. Our room on the executive level was nice, but quite cramped with the extra bed for my son. Hotel staff was amazing whether helping us order dinner or bringing us extra pillows. Very few English speaking staff, but we were able to get by. Only problem we had was fellow guest not following on the no smoking policy on our floor. Reported it twice, but offenders kept smoking.
I stayed in this hotel for five nights in September. The Holiday Inn turned out to be very nice. Rooms are spacious and beds are great. The hotel staff was very helpful. Breakfast (included in our rate) turned out to be spectacular.
