I stayed here for two weeks on vacation so I got to know the place pretty well. First, the staff is outstanding, really fantastic. The majority of the staff do not speak English, but the managers and the concierge do. When I needed something and no English speaking person was available they were quick to either go get someone, or call someone on their cell phone. Jeff, Jimmy and Victor are all what make the Grand Concordia grand; they went above and beyond daily to help us with anything we needed. In fact, Jeff gave me his business card with his cell phone number on it after a few days there and told me if I was out and about and needed help, translation services or a taxi called to my location to please call him directly. Victor was always out front with a smile on his face and he opened car door for me, or put his hand on the roof when i got in a vehicle so i didn't bump my head. He told the taxi drivers where I wanted to go so there were no mix ups. You couldn't ask for a better staff, they treat you like royalty. The breakfast bar is HUGE with vast choices. The majority caters to Asian taste but they make an effort to include some Western choices as well. I had the best time every morning trying a new fruit or porridge. The rooms are kept very clean, we could eat off of our bathroom floor. The wallpaper, however, is a bit dated and peeling in some sections. The motion activated lights are nice, especially when you need to get up at night, The bathroom light does stay on about 15 minutes, whereas the hall light stays on about 15 seconds, but we just shut our bathroom door so it wasn't a problem. I did have the lights go out on me in the shower almost daily, but contrary to other reviews, you do not have to get out and walk to the middle of the room. Simply opening the shower door and waving a hand out is enough and takes just a second, not really a huge deal. I had coffee almost nightly in the Amigo lounge. The waitresses are wonderful and the coffee is strong. I also ate three times in the second floor restaurant and it was absolutely wonderful. The food was amazing and the staff tried very hard to speak English and used their cell phones for translation help when needed. I have two complaints, however: First, the hotel has no smoking signs everywhere along with signs in the room stating it's against the law to smoke inside as of June 1, 2015...and right in front of the sign is an ashtray. Also, I saw people smoking in the hallways daily and flicking butts in the trash cans in the hallways when they got on the elevator. The stink is terrible. Second, do not disturb evidently means nothing. Some of the staff, while in attempt to be helpful, can seem intrusive and pestering at times. They knock once and walk right in. I was ill during my stay and was trying to sleep, but the staff walked in on me offering me a cookie. Also, I had the do not disturb sign on the door and the cleaning staff came in anyway. Overall, this hotel gets an A and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Well organised and clean. I stayed at the Marriott just across the road for two nights and thought I would change hotel to mark the end of a work trip. Great value for money and I even got upgraded to the top floor....but I let the water to run for 3 mins and the water was still brown, very brown. The sink wasn't draining well and can be a potential fall hazard. I had to brush with bottled water and refrain from singing in the shower... Otherwise all is good.

I had read that some people thought that the Grand Concordia was getting a little "worn," so I was a little surprised to find that it is a beautiful hotel with a very good, reasonably priced restaurant. The only drawback is that there were not many staff who could speak English and I don't speak Mandarin. We were there for one night, so we didn't get a chance to explore the neighborhood, but it looked like there were some nice comes in the area. The hotel is also close to the embassy district.

Stayed for 3 nights.Although the hotel was comfortable it is very dated. Would have been very grand and royal in its heyday but in the year 2016 it just isn't right. Very Chinese hotel with fake marble everywhere. We had to change rooms after the first night as the shower leaked everywhere it actually nearly flooded the room, we had to throw all the towles on the floor to soak up the water. The breakfast buffet is good, although the bacon, sausages and fried eggs were cold on both mornings. They cooked a heap and just put them on trays under a light, no heat at all. Lots of other choices though. Indoor pool was nice, big and clean but cold, could only stay in for 10 mins tops..

I stayed here for an entire week on business so I feel like I can say something about this hotel. You can see that the hotel in its heyday was a very upscale place. The furnishings are of good quality, solid wood furniture, marble bathrooms, a magnificent entrance... but since those days, it has accumulated layers of detail that don't quite match up to the original grandiosity. Take for example the signs in the rooms and on every floor, with different fonts and misspellings, the breakfast buffet in which every other item is mislabeled - chicken sausage says "beef" and beef is actually pork, etc. and btw they were some of the worst sausages I have ever had. The strange mix of 70s and 90s music playing in a baroque style cafe... All this adds up to a sense of confusion, and thus mistrust, about what the hotel really delivers. Do they know what they're doing? Or are they just roughly following the example set by the original management, with no real sense of how a five star international hotel is supposed to keep up with the times? Granted, the basic things work: the bed is comfortable, the showers work, there is plenty of hot water, but as with so many local hotels, you can smell cigarette smoke in the room at night, and can't tell whether it's coming from the next room or the central air. Inside the room, there is a sign forbidding smoking indoors by order of the government, yet there is an ashtray right next to the sign. What gives? At one point I had to receive a package left by an associate. Even after I gave them my name and room number, the concierge was unable to locate it. It was only found after I gave them the name of the person who left it that the package was found. This shows that they don't try very hard. I also saw bellboys spitting into the garden and yet they were nowhere to be seen when you arrive at the hotel. Not a good impression to give to first arrivals. The hotel mostly caters to Chinese businessmen and maybe they don't demand as much (or look for different details, such as the selection of Chinese teas of which they do offer plenty), but as an international business traveler, I see this more as a four star hotel. Oh, but the second floor Chinese restaurant (independently operated) called Fu Yuan is quite good and is recommended.

Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Pedestal toilets, super nice bathrooms. Pool and dry sauna in basement, (make sure you've got a swim cap, required). One of the best western style breakfasts I've had in China. A really nice hotel for the money, with European luxury style. Right around the corner from the United States Embassy.

The service is so terrible , it takes forever to get in . The rooms are not that bad but the service leaves a lot to be desired . If you are a foreigner then get a Chinese friend or translator to help you because most of the staff speaks English .

The location is convenient and the beds are comfortable. Those are the highlights; however, three irritants during my one day stay significantly drop the review of this property and I would not return. * The lights in the bathroom are motion sensor, meaning they stayed on longer than I would like when I used the bathroom in the night and also they turned off while I was taking a bath .... causing me to have to get up and walk into the middle of the room to turn them on again. Insane. * After I finished my work assignment in the morning, at 10:15am I put on my running clothes and was going to hit the gym. Unfortunately....I learned their gym does not open until 4pm. Such a disservice. * When I found a restaurant from Trip Advisor that is close to the hotel (0.25mile away) and asked the concierge how to get there (showing him the map) he was not helpful. Even when I shared with him the phone number from the restaurants website he said the number is fake and wouldn't call it for directions. I later dialed that number and it worked perfectly. I would expect better from a hotel that purports to be upscale.

Stayed 2 nights and got a free upgrade to a suite. Cleanliness in shower could be better. Breakfast buffet quite comprehensive, focus on Asian food. Free wifi. Friendly staff. Missed a bar place. The light system in the room was a bit odd. Works on movement sensors, well not always.....

After staying here two night, i can say i still didn't find the hotel i will be happy to return to when visiting Beijing. the room was clean but didnt look like it is well maintain and as a fact the shower didnt work. more over, when i complained, they just ignored and the second night i had again to "enjoy" the poor shower. In general, i am not that picky but when paying over 700 RMB, i just expect for more.
