Very good location, excellent staff at the reception, concierge and at the restaurant. Some of the rooms are very modern and some are a bit too old, but large size rooms with all the facilities available at the hotel. Highly recommended and value for money.
This hotel is well situated next to the Congress center and trams, and included a tram pass (though I chose to walk). Breakfast was very good and staff at the dining room were incredibly nice. However, if back in Basel I would likely look at alternatives, and that is mostly based on the quality of the room maintenance. While it was clean, the room had notable paint missing, very evident wear and tear on the furniture, and needed new caulking in the bathroom. For the cost of the room, I was surprised that the rooms were not better maintained.
In front of tram lines, offering you a very convenient way to reach any place in Basel. Rooms are very correct, team is fantastic especially concierges, grooms and front desk. I always enjoy seeing them. Breakfast is awesome.
I found this to be a beautiful hotel well-situated in Basel. The lobby is especially well decorated. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are nice esp compared to my other experiences in Switzerland.
Great wifi, gym, breakfast, in room coffee, room service food selection and bar too. I have stayed here exclusively for 10 years a week per month. I have tried other hotels but they are always missing one element required for a business traveler. Would stay here on vacation too.
I find it unacceptable that at 09:45 on the morning after Morgestraich there was not a crust of bread left. Staff shrugging shoulders - no bread anymore. This is the second visit where breakfast was a shambles
Location is perfect if you are at the exhibition site Hotel itself was functional and devoid of any personality. I know they are going through a refurbishment and have to assume the room we had was per refurb. Sink didn't drain unless you removed the stopper completely - surely this could be picked up during room cleaning. Air conditioning could not be controlled at all. Really cheap furniture with wardrobe doors that slam shut. Sockets above the desk intermittent function. Shower ran hot and cold. WiFi reasonable speed and free
We traveled across Europe during Christmas holiday and we decided to visit and have sleep over in Basel. Swissotel is close to the city center and we found it without problem coming from the highway. We have been provided the public transportation day passes for free on the check in, so we gladly left our car in hotel private parking and did not hasitate to use the tram to go to visit the city centre - tram passes right in front of the hotel and in a few stops you are by the Danube river. The staff was really very helpful and nice, when they realised it was my birthday the concierge offered a free breakfast for all our family members, which was rich ( yogurts, cereals, fresh smoothies and juices, eggs in all imaginable ways, ham, bacon , cheese, fruit, bread, cakes, brioches and many more) and fresh. The room was spacious and clean, bed a real king size with one solid mattress, all very recent and ergonomic. The whole experience of Basil was wonderful and hotel has a significant role in it.
I got to spend only 1 night in Basel on business. It was quite ewsy to get from the airport to hotel, which is located at Messeplatz. Quite goid location, very welcoming and quick check-in (my room was ready at ca 12, which was great!). There is small renovation in the hotel, but fortunately for me, I did not hear anything:) Room was rather spacoius for entry level, and it had everything I needed for short stay. 24h free transport ticket was a very nice feature! What could be better? During my breakfast, staff did not approached me even once!!! Not asking for coffee or omelette! I asked at the counter, cook said that waiter will come, but she never did!! Dissapointing! Again, very smooth check-out, details of my invoice were already in the system, so it took really seconds. Overall, nice stay, I hope to be back in that great city, and maybe I will be back in Swissotel again!
Stayed here for a quick overnight before a Christmas Market cruise of the Rhine and am so glad we did. The Swisshotel Le Plaza is light, clean, uncomplicated and yet elegant. Our room was well-sized (especially for Europe) with plenty of electrical outlets, and the bath was roomy and fresh. The concierge and front desk staff were incredibly kind and obliging, pointing us toward local restaurants and giving us directions to the Christmas markets, which were not too far away. Our only complaint was that the hotel is undergoing renovations and work started a little before nine, which was a little early for two Americans who had a long flight the preceding day. But otherwise, the Swisshotel Le Plaza was a wonderful place to start our vacation.
