Hotel Rochat Basel

As others have stated, the location of this hotel is very convenient to town and many services and also the Rhine River harbor, from which river cruises leave. The rooms are comfortable and well-equipped. Ours was a garret room with fun, creaky floors; the garret extends to the shower/tub. We are both very tall--our heads reached the ceiling of the shower. Fortunately, the hand-held shower head saved the day, and we got a great photo from the experience. For us, the downside was that breakfast wasn't included and was somewhat spendy (16 Swiss francs) so we ate out. Otherwise, the staff were so helpful and friendly, and the night we stayed there, there was a wonderful festival of some sort going on right on Petersgraben so gluhwein and other wonderful treats were right outside the door. What more could you want?

This stylish caracter hotel is located just a block away from the river where we boarded the Viking river cruise. Easy access by tram or taxi from the train station. Within walking distance to the old down town district. Friendly staff and the room was spotless and cute. Breakfast needed to be ordered at check in and cost extra but is sure worth it.

We stayed one night at hotel Rochat prior to flying home from Basel. Followed advice on catching tram #30 from train station and getting to hotel was fairly easy. Good location with easy walk into old Basel and also easy walk to restaurant 1777 previously reviewed. Paelio, at front desk, was very friendly and helpful with directions & places to go and see. We would highly recommend this hotel and its location... Breakfast is also available and very good.

This hotel is fine. It's clean, a bit dated, breakfast below average. But it's central to the old town and the staff are kind. I have stayed here a number of times and it's alright for a night or two if you want simple and practical. No bells or whistles....But a bloody early church bell awakening from 7am.

This is the second time I have stayed here. I work in the University Hospital across the road. The room I had was lovely, much nicer than the last time. The hotel is being refurbished and it's looking much better. The young woman on the reception desk when I arrived late evening was so friendly and welcoming. This cannot be said of the lady waiting the tables at breakfast. Abrupt would be being generous, but more like downright rude. I only wanted coffee because the breakfast didn't look appetising. Before I could tell her, she presented me with a bill for breakfast to sign but when I explained I only wanted coffee she grabbed the cutlery and placemat away and stomped off muttering about how the price was different. It doesn't take much to be polite. A few manners go a long way, so shame on you for being rude to a returning customer. Next time I'll buy my coffee across the road - If i come back .

Room clean and tidy although you have to be a size zero model to squeeze into the shower cubicle. Breakfast wasn't exceptional, just average! Close to town centre which is a bonus. Swiss blandness at it's best.

This is a simple and straightforward hotel. We found most of the staff to be very friendly and helpful. It is well located for accessing the old town. A little noisy in the mornings. Decent continental breakfast.

Everyone is so friendly and helpful, we had a big room and huge bed, hotel was very clean and close to city.😁 safe walking areas and beautiful weather. Our room was in the new wing and beautifully appointed. Thank you

Staff was professional and friendly speaking english , location good enough , breakfast was very good and service in restaurant was quick and professional. The public transport ticket helps by moving in the city. The room and bathroom were very clean. The price of room was too high . The hotel havn't private parking and public parking was expensive. The bathroom is too small .

Stayed 2 nights in spacious family room at the back. Rom was modern and bathroom delicate. Breakfast is not worth the price, you really understand the value when you get to France where the croisants and bread is fresh. If you need parking, make sure you book it, they only have two; and it is very tight. Location excellent in the old town.
