Pullman Basel Europe4.0 out of 5.0

I'm pleased to add my voice to the already large number of reviewers who had a positive experience at the Pullman. He hotel is clean, polished, contemporary and has a very friendly staff. I was not wanting for anything more durning my three nights there. In addition to its location on the tram to downtown, there is an ATM and CoOp (grocery store) just a few feet away. There are a variety of restaurants in the area with the cuisines of many ethnicities. I look forward to my return visit!
This was our first experience in Europe. My grandfather was aSwiss hotel man so I had heard some stories though he died before I was born. The welcome was excellent because of a friendly & professional staff. For Americans the lack of some small things mught be a slight bother but the charm over rides that. The fact that the door key is necessary for the elevator seems like a good idea for the USA. One strange thing was two rnt Rd ances tk the WC but no doors.
The hotel staff couldn’t have been more helpful and we were upgraded on arrival free of charge. Room was lovely and the tram stop is situated right out side making the rest of Basel easily accessible. Both the continental and cooked breakfast were very nice and we did have an evening meal in the hotel during our stay and this was both reasonably priced and delicious.
Haven't stayed in a Pullman before, but will definitely continue with this brand of hotel. Upgraded on arrival, staff very friendly and helpful, rooms clean and spacious, bed massive and very comfortable for a good nights sleep. Trams stopped right outside and easily within walking distance of all the main attractions of the town. Great stay, excellent value and highly recommended .
From very begging the receptionist who attended us on check in was rude, all time giving preference to calls, to talk to colleagues and making us wait. We arrived early so right after checking we leave our bags and went to walk through the city. When we get back, we found out the room is fitted as single, for 1 only. Everything is for one, towels, pillows, amenities etc. After our call to reception, we faced the same girl who attended us entering our room with a master key WITHOUT any knock to the door. EXCUSE ME???!!! It's rude and not worth for be international hotel. On the other hand, she haven't brought a small pillow, I had to request again, and the answer was... WE DON'T HAVE MORE as said, absolutely disappointing stay to never get back, either recommend anyone Appreciate to transfer my comments mail to manager and you try to improve the service The only answer from the hotel was that they are sorry and will talk to the stuff No compensation no any purpose as a solution
We stayed in the Pullman Basel hotel for one night only before our flight back home and wish it could have been longer. The room was so spacious and well planned and obviously a lot of thought has gone into storage spaces and the general lay-out. The staff were really friendly too and it is only a few minutes by tram from the centre although we walked there in about 15-20 minutes only.
My wife and I spent two nights here as a post-cruise extension on a popular river cruise. This was the hotel they included, and we were not disappointed. There was a mix-up on our first attempt to use the elevator... so make sure you use your room key to activate (ie: unlock) the elevator. Nobody told us this and it took a minute to figure it out since someone on the 6th floor was calling the elevator (we were going to 5th). The included breakfast was very good in both selection and quality. Rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable. I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in Basel. Its about a mile or so from the old town, but since tourists are given a transport card, all public transportation is free. Its a quick ride to just about anywhere you want to go via the great tram system in Basel, but being away from the bustle means a nice, quiet sleep. Being across the street from the police station gives a nice peace-of-mind as well, and next door to a super market means you can quickly get anything you might need (just go early because like all of Europe, they close early.)
Well located and served by public transport. The restaurant of the hotel at 17 at Gault Millau, what more could you ask for. The rooms are spacious, clean and the bathroom is huge. Only negative point (for me), there is carpet. Certainly a very good address in the city.
We stayed 3 nights. Rooms modern and well appointed. Some minor flaws: Only one lounge chair, no room for a second. Shower temperature fluctuated from cold to very hot for no apparent reason. Duvet provided proved too hot to sleep under even with thermostat set at lowest temp.
On arrival at the Pullman checking in was very efficient and our room was plain but spotless with a excellent bathroom. The problem with the Pullman is the service. Ignored by the bar staff several times trying to order drinks, mixed customer service asking for directions and the room not being serviced on the second day. We had been out since 0830 so on returning at 1800 were surprised to find it not serviced. I visited reception and was told we had put the sign on the door requesting "comeback later " which wasn't true. After arguing with me it was arranged that towels would be delivered but there was no housekeeping staff to clean it. Towels, a toilet roll and shampoo were quickly delivered with no apology and we still had a overflowing bin, unchanged beds and dirty towels. Definitely not up to my expectation. The hotel is a short walk to the centre of Basel and is very handy for tram travel but has no warmth in it's hospitality.
