Actually as I read the reviews I was really impressed but as I came here I got totally astonished with what I experienced. The people are helpful but they can't help in something that they don't have. The TV either not working or need at least 10min to be ON. The WiFi is the worst ever I've seen in last 5 years. Disconnection is the character of of it. In the middle of your work the net is disconnected and you obliged to repeat your work again. Moreover it seems that in the weekend there is no duties for the maintaince service which is not the case in all hotels I have visited. I'll never even think about coming back here.
Wifi was very very weak. Food was not good, fries were over fried and dry and the schnitzel was not better than what you would get from frozen section in a supermarket. Not for a family. They made a mess of my reservation whereby I had to stay very far from my children although Accor confirmed adjacent rooms on the phone. Parking was terrible. Price was expensive for all the hassle. I wouldn't recommend it for leisure traveling families. The only redeeming point is room cleanliness and espresso machine.
The people at reception are very nice and helpful. Included in the rate are cards for free public transportation. The rate was not unreasonable. The air- conditioning is terrible. The receptionist told me that there is a government regulation about thermostat settings, but it was in the 80s outside, and the room was hot.Nice hotel in the fall and spring, I guess.
Visited the hotel with family over the week-end. Some good points: We enjoyed the modern rooms hotel and the small terrace over looking the patio / garden. Rooms on this side of the hotel are also quiet which is a bid "plus". Week-end rate is August (low season) was also attractive for Basel. Furthermore, the hotel also shares an easily accessible parking at reasonable cost. Location: while not in the Center itself, it is easy / quick to reach by foot or tram Why only 3 stars: - sleep comfort: while the bed is comfortable, they put a plastified protective over on the bed which is terrible. Bed is hot, humid and each movement makes a noise. Never seen this anywhere expect in hospital 🙁 - breakfast: average quality. ( except for fresh fruits). Would expect more choice in a 4 star hotel. Only one coffee machine resulting in people queuing for several minutes... I suggest Pullman acquires a couple of Nespresso machines. - Wifi: was not working
Basel was having a bit of a heat wave when I stayed here at the end of June, and the hotel's air conditioning just couldn't keep up. When I asked the front desk if there were any options, they told me they had some fans, but it was unlikely there would be any available. Strange. I had specifically requested a room with a king bed, but got the two-single-pushed-together option. I tried to change rooms but there were no other available. That's okay, I totally understand that, but the attitude was not very obliging, and the front desk guy never did get back to me as promised. The beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was good. Clarastrasse is a bit sketchy, although it felt safe, and apparently they are upgrading it, hence the roadworks. The hotel is very close to the tramline, or it is an easy stroll down to the bridge and over into the old town. The hotels provides a Mobility Pass as part of the city taxes, and that is extremely useful for getting round by tram.
We stayed at the Pullman so we could stay in Switzerland, with a car rental and visit the excellent Cite du Automobiles and Cite de Trains (Museums) in Mulhouse, France. An easy 30 minute drive away and beautiful countryside to explore coming and going. The hotel is basically a business hotel in an average area but the staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are good and may be the most practical to spend a few days we have ever visited. Excellent luggage access, and a tram stop that services the city right at the front door. We took advantage of the underground car park also. euros 60 for a 3 night stay.
The Pullman Hotel in Basel is very nice, has great employees and is in an excellent location. However, while it advertises as having air conditioning, it does not. The front desk employees claim it has pipes in the walls that cool the rooms and Switzerland law doesn't allow cool air conditioning. The rooms are terribly hot, and if you are from the U.S. and expect air conditioning, look elsewhere. The windows can't be opened. They will offer only a fan. I would look elsewhere unless it is winter or until they purchase a real air conditioning system.
I stayed a week at the Pullman Basel for business. The hotel was clean and modern. Room was quiet and comfortable. I was able to work, using the free internet. The breakfast was good, but did not vary so I found it a bit repetitive after several days. The gym was sparse as well. No free weights, but there is a treadmill and a set of dumbells. Overall, I found the location to be very convenient and would stay here again.
A great stay in Basel. Has everything you need for a business trip - good beds with full size quilt, wifi, decent toiletries big fluffy towels. Bar menu ok and very nice restaurant - although now closed until mid-August. Tram stop outside - next to a decent co-op and for me only a short walk to the office.
Great place, perfectly organized, great rooms, very friendly staff, nice attention in the room. They understand how to make guests feel welcome. Booked this room as a passthrough stop on my way to Corsica, and it was truly a great stay.
