Perfect location between the beach and center (shopping), good and nice decorated rooms, they are very noisy, you can hear your neighbours very loud. But the bathroom and sleeping area is excellent! I think they just had a new make over, everything looks new. The personel is very friendly, great hospitality and the food is very okay, not really a great variety but for example a very small but great breakfast, the señora's that work there are so friendly and kind, we start smiling at the breakfast every day. We stayed here for 2 weeks. The hotel is small, simple but very efficient with outstanding personel at breakfast. Muchos gracias, hasta huego.
We spent a night at this hotel prior to our Western Mediterranean cruise. Front desk staff are very helpful and provide great customer service. Overall, it is a clean and quiet hotel. Room was a bit tight for our family of 4. Two single beds were lined up immediate against the wall upon the entrance to the room, with the air-conditioning blowing cold air directly at these beds. The remaining two single beds are situated side by side to the right of the entry way. The best feature of the room is the availability of a balcony overlooking the square below. We enjoyed hanging outside for fresh air. The bathroom is of decent size, with good water pressure for the shower. We like the location of the hotel, very convenient to the several tourist spots: La Rambles, beach, Gothic Quarter, port area and Ciutadella Park. Even though the price of the hotel is on the expensive side, however, if we are back in Barcelona sometime in the future, we will consider staying here again.
Hotel is not bad, but air-conditioning didn't work at all. It made a sound like something running, but no cold air. Stayed for 4 night. We spent all days outside of hotel, but when returning it was so hut in the room. Open the window, but there is no screens on the windows, and we got mosquitos bites. Couldn't sleep at all. Not recommended this hotel at summer time.
Stayed here for one night pre-cruise. Arrived later in evening and staff were very helpful. Family room was a great size and had everything we needed. Nice bathroom too. Seemed to be in a very central Location and some lovely places to eat close by. Fab market on the Sunday morning just round the corner. Would definitely visit again. Didn't have breakfast as we went out sightseeing early and ate later but very reasonable at €7 if you needed breakfast.
Hotel Santa Marta Hotel was a perfect place to stay in Barcelona. It had a good location - walking distance to the beach and La Rambla. The Air Con worked well and was really needed during the crazy hot weather. Staff were friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and well taken care of. I would definitely come back.
Nice, new, clean hotel. Room was a bit on the small side, but it's all we really needed as a family as a base to explore the city. Breakfast was okay, but a bit limited in choice. Location was brilliant, short walk from La Rambla, the Zoo, and the Gothic quarter, and practically across the road from the city bus tour bus stop. Overall, not bad for the price.
We came to visit in June 2017. Only staying in Barcelona for 1 night on our way to Valencia, we decided to get a proper hotel instead of Airbnb. Initially, we booked some sort of pension - as in someone's flat but I spotted this gem and told my friend to cancel previous booking immediately. We paid €63 euros for a twin room - the rate was unbelievable! For that price - and we are budget conscious travellers - could get a bed in 12 person dorm in a hostel. Location wise it is ideal! About 5 min walk from Barceloneta metro station, it was easily accessible from the airport. There are plenty of 24hr shops in a close proximity, also the beach is only about 10mins walk away. We checked in late but that was not an issue at all. Staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English. Upon arrival you must pay extra city tax it it's only about 0.7€. The hotel was recently refurbished and it is very nice and clean, air conditioning throughout. As for the room, it was in nice beige decor, comfortable mattresses and pillows. Our twin room was tiny and a little cramped with low ceiling - maybe not the best for people suffering from claustrophobia - but it had a sofa which was handy to put stuff on. Window was overlooking a square. Free wifi. Only problems which I found was air conditioning was not very cold and a little leaky, and it was blowing air directly onto the beds - excellent way to catch a cold. We arrived with luggage but we didn't want to carry it around while sightseeing, so we opted to leave it at the hotel - to my horror I discovered the luggage room is unattended, so generally anyone can just walk in pretending to be a guest and snatch your luggage - if you have time, look for another option to secure your luggage - maybe at the nearby train station Estacio de Franca - they bound to have secure lockers for few euro and it's only maybe 100m away - better safe than sorry!
We had this hotel booked but the week of our trip there was a death in the family. I called up NOT to get a refund but to simply have the option of changing the dates. However, as we had paid in full up front they refused to even discuss it. They were so rude on the phone and had no consideration for what we were going through and hung up on me. Absolutely disgusting way to treat honest paying customers!!!
A big group of us used hotel santa Marta for a base for a weekend away and it was a great hotel to have chosen, simple, clean and in he middle of everything. Would definitely recommend if you are heading to Barcelona for a weekend and not planning on spending all your time in the hotel
This place is not high quality but you can satisfy with the price. The air conditioner doesn't work when the window is open. Be careful not to put your carrier under the air conditioner. Your belongings get wet from water dripped from it.
