The Niu hotel in Barcelona was good value for money with clean, comfortable, modern, air-conditioned rooms and friendly service.. It is also in a great location and I would stay there again. The only problem was the breakfast being laid out for a long time in the warm reception area..
Niu Hotel is a great place to stay in Barcelona, so well located in the Raval neighbourhood, a short walk from La Rambla and many of the main attractions and at a very reasonable price. We have spent 5 wonderful days here in a spacious , light and airy Superior room on the 4th floor. The bathroom was very large (including a funky toilet seat with a light) and the room itself well designed and dry comfortable with great beds. We particularly liked having two large sliding doors we could open at night for fresh air and being so high up, we felt completely safe. We enjoyed the continental breakfast with its good selection of choices. Raval is a multicultural neighbourhood and is undergoing major rejuvenation. There is construction work going on around the hotel and it can be noisy during the day and being so close to the centre, some street noise at night. This is no fault of,the hotel and can be avoided with the doors closed. And last, but by no means least, the service and the staff in this hotel are exceptional. They go the extra mile to ensure their guests have the best possible experience.
The hotel is in a terrible area, with lots of crime on surrounding streets. The hotel has no security and doors are left open. Our luggage was stolen from the hotel lobby as we checked-in and no one cared! We were offered no compensation – and not even a glass of water during this terrible ordeal! Staff admit that they are scared of thieves entering the hotel lobby! DO NOT STAY HERE. Strangely, no one is allowed to contact the hotel owner (who apparently lives in Dubai) – they need to know what is happening and this needs to stop! Further bad news – we had cockroaches invading our room during our terrible stay! (pictures to be uploaded soon) The very worst experience!
The hotel was actually fairly nice, modern, clean and a good breakfast (hairdryers in both room didn’t work and a leaking shower door in 103). The big let down was the noise, outside the hotel are some major road improvements taking place, from 8am to 6pm each of the 3 days we stayed directly outside our window was a JCB with a hammer drill breaking up the concrete non stop. We were in desperate need of a restful break after a few difficult months and we in actual fact returned home tired and stressed. We realise the hotel cannot manage the road works but at £170 per night I thought we should have been contacted before we arrived to make the situation clear, or whilst we were there had an offer to be moved or refunded in some way. To be honest we felt very let down and taken advantage of.
Nice, clean hotel with a very good location. Walking distance to both La Rambla and Port Vell as well as the metro. Friendly and helpfull staff. Unfortunately there was a big construction going on right outside the hotel, that we were not informed about prior to our arrival, which made sleeping in a bit difficult.
Hotel Niu Barcelona Barcelona Excellent Hotel, Great Staff 676164928 I stayed at the Hotel Niu Barcelona for four nights this May. The hotel is conveniently located just a five minute walk to La Rambla and 10 minutes to Placa De Catalunya and perhaps 20 minutes to the waterfront. This is a five story hotel with 27 rooms and a friendly staff that goes above and beyond to accommodate their guests. The staff went out of their way to arrange tours of various sites in Barcelona on short notice. Located at Rambla del Raval 8, there are a dozen or more restaurants just outside the front door. In the lobby the restaurant “Ilya” offers an excellent assortment of tapas and wine as well as a variety of breakfast dishes. As an American having traveled through Europe a fair amount I find that the bathrooms of the various hotels at which I have stayed often impact my stay and my assessment of a particular hotel. Let me say that the bathrooms at Hotel Niu Barcelona are the best I have encountered. There is ample room in the bathroom, the shower (no tub) was spacious and featured two shower heads from which to choose. There was ample hot water and ample water pressure. I do not hesitate to recommend Hotel Niu Barcelona and will be certain to stay there again the next time I visit that area. Hotel Niu Barcelona Rambla del Raval, 8 08001 Barcelona (+34) 936 55 02 55
We recently stayed for 5 nights at Hotel Niu, all the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The double room we had on the first floor was a very good size, had a very comfortable bed and a good shower, we also had a small balcony looking out into the main street. The location of the hotel is perfect for a base to explore the city, there are plenty of bars, restaurants and public transport nearby to cater for all needs. The restaurant/bar on the ground floor was also very good, we ate lunch here a couple of times, they had a good tapas and drinks selection. There is also a cocktail bar in the basement which we used one evening before heading out for the night, the vodka Martini and Cosmopolitan were excellent. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would happily stay here again.
The hotel lobby is pretty funky and although we didn't eat in the restuaurant it looked pretty good and were always plenty of other people there - which is normally a good sign. The bedroom was a decent size with a nice shower and bathroom. Bed was very comfy. AC wasn't great, if you like a cold room. Ours got pretty warm. The location is great, close to main shopping streets, plenty of restaurants all around the hotel too. A well priced room in a great location
I visited the hotel during the month of May and I really enjoyed its cozy atmosphere, the location is very good to the people who are looking for a quick access to the city charming places such as old downtown area and As well as the astonishing Beach . The food is super creative and delicious I highly recommend The sea food lovers to give it a try.
Very nice hotel. Nice reception. Our room was lovely. On the 4th floor very spacious. Very nice bathroom. Loo even had a light in the bowl and a heated seat, novel. No where to hang towels or bath robes but apart from that lovely bathroom. Room clean and comfortable. Sport facility at the back of the hotel with football and table tennis for the local kids so very noisy 4-7pm and as on a busy street lots of noise from party folks throughout the night. To be expected I suppose in the middle of a busy vibrant city. Location great for walking to and from attractions and enjoyed the local bars and eating places.
