The beds were comfortable. The rooms are very noisy. You can hear every time someone leaves their room and moves furniture above you. The rooms were not very clean and things needed fixing.
The condition of the hotel and the rooms is horrible. Too many broken slabs on the floor, our room had a window but no sunlight. The toilet seat was broken. The AC was good and the check-in and check-out were quick.
Tried to book a hotel near to sightseeing in Barcelona and this definitely checked that box. At the first crosswalk you can enter the same Placa as the Barcelona Cathedral. Which leads into the maze of alleys and streets in the Gothic quarter. Easy to get to the metro stations which were only 1 Euro a ride, cheaper than Paris and London. Very grateful for the A/C and nice, clean shower because Barcelona got hot during the afternoon. Not the most spacious or Spanish looking hotel room. Very very basic place to call home base. Veritas is the closest grocery store, but try to find the Dia across La Ramblas for a better and cheaper grocery selection.
My stay at Ilunion was very good. The staff was polite and helpful and the room was clean. It is located pretty close to Catedral de Barcelona and is not very far from Maremagnum. I would stay here again.
The sky was clear enough to see the stars in Barcelona, but after checking into Confortel Almirante it was hard to see why this establishment could possibly deserve any of it's supposed four stars. The hotel is well situated, the lobby looks hip and trendy, and the staff are friendly enough, but this is tired and incredibly basic place to stay at the end of the day. Everything in the room looked pretty worn out. In the bathroom I was provided with a single solitary single use sliver of soap. This place deserves one star at most.
Located on on of the main avenues leading to the harbor and in the middle of the Gothic neighborhood make it a great place from which to explore. We chose an inside room off of the street, and it was very quiet. Room had a safe. Very clean, but shower door did not keep water from getting the floor wet. A/C was great to have. Staff was courteous. Had breakfast one morning at their restaurant. Not much of a deal for €11- most of the fruit was from a can.
Stayed one night. Room was clean but dated. Bed was very hard as are most in the hotels i stay in and the air conditioning was very weak therefore room was a bit warm at night. I didn't use room service or any other facilities within the hotel. I would say it was about what I expected for the price. No major complaints but I'm trying to nit pick a bit for this review.
Very comfortable and reasonably priced stay. Location was absolutely perfect - walking distance to many places and close to metro station. Room and bathroom were both great - awesome shower! Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was also very good and only 11 Euro for a great spread of quality food and many beverages. I highly recommend this hotel if you are spending a few nights in Barcelona.
Everything was good, but the room smelled really bad. Requested a change in room and everything was better.
We stayed 3 days in mid Sept. 2013, and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was helpful - checked us right in with somewhat early arrival. Our room was in the back, so very quiet, and it was larger than we anticipated. The bathroom was also surprisingly large. And everything was exceptionally clean, which really pleased us. We didn't eat at the hotel - rather we found a very nice little place around the corner for breakfast and other nice places within easy walking distance. The hotel proved to be a perfect location for first-timers to Barcelona. We did lots of walking as well as used the hop-on, hop off bus. Definitely recommend it.
Came with my wife to enjoy a week end in Barcelona. Location very convenient close to the Cathedral, Plaza Catalunya (buses to BCN airport) and Barrio Gotico. Our room was very, very, very small... and the bed smaller! No bath, shower only. Blind windows. Unacceptable for a ****.
This is a very nice hotel in the middle of the Gothic quarters, next to the one of the most beautiful cathedrals of Barcelona: The Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalie. Hotel is located in about 15 minutes’ walk distance from Ramblas area and 20 minutes from marina. Hotel does not provide any discount for the very expensive car parking in the area – that is why I put 4 stars for amenities.
The hotel had a good location, a pleasant/useful staff, and is priced reasonably. However, the hotel needs some repairs. For instance, the towel rack was partially torn out of the wall and the bathtub was very UNinviting. If this is a 3-star hotel then it is in the low 3s.
Nice modern lobby. Free Internet access. Two elevators. Great breakfast, plenty of choices, breads, cheese, eggs, ham, pastries, cereal choices were limited but plenty of yogurt and fruit, and complimentary Cava or red wine!! Rooms were clean, well maintained and large enough for two. We didn't notice interior noise and the windows were double pane on the street. The bath was fine with a tub/shower combination. The location is less than a block from the central Cathedral and the Tourist bus stop and only a third of a mile to the metro. We were very careful but never experienced any threats in this area and returned after 11pm several times.
Hotel is in a great location but that is about it. The bed was very very hard, and just two twins pushed together. The toilet emanated sewer fumes even when closed. The hot water was only warm during peak usage time. Additionally, there was a window that had a white tint so that you could not see out, however, it was just a view of the wall of the building next door and a dirty alley. Also, the breakfast buffet was included but unfortunately would not recommend at all. Dried up looking fruit, runny eggs. There was a small selection of pastry which was one of the few edible products. Again, good location and the desk staff was pleasant. However, I cannot fully recommend.
The hotel room was clean and modern, the staff was knowledgeable. It was within walking distance to the taxi stand, gothic quarter, sightseening bus, great restaurants, banks.
We planned to stay at Confortel for only 2 days, but extended our stay for 2 weeks! The hotel was in a GREAT Location, across from http://www.catedralbcn.org/, Dali museum, with everything in walking distance including beautiful Gothic buildings, restaurants, shopping, La Rambla, Farmers Market... Take a short bus ride #45 to the beach, even walk, or rent a bicycle. We loved this hotel, the room was appropriate for our family, and the small fridge came handy. Most importantly, traveling as a mother with my 7 year old, I felt safe and at home!
The hotel has a great location. You can do a LOT just by walking and there is a subway station right next to it (make that two stations actually). They've let us check in earlier but not check out later. You need 20 euros deposit for the safe and the breakfast was not included. Ah, there was no conditioner in the room and it is not a 4 star hotel; it is 3.
Extemely noisey, Old TV that worked poorly, uncomfortable beds, no pillow cases, no alarm, no radio, lack of towels.
Shower door didn't fit well on tub which caused water to get on floor. Would have liked to have a coffee pot in room.
