The bar area is beautiful and has reasonable prices. The common area is funky and unique. The Front desk staff were not very friendly and didn’t really seem to want to take the take to explain much of anything. The hallways upstairs smelt like a boys locker room. The rooms where pretty spacious and felt clean. The bunk was were comfortable and enough room. Toilet and shower area are separate from each other and both are entirely too small. Water pressure was good and water was hot but the sprayer was position in your face due to how small the shower area was. Didn’t feel connected with other guests and no activities were offered to help facilitate that.

No tvs in rooms no phones to call reception....wayyyyyyyy too overpriced...

The positives: Good location, clean room, comfortable beds. The negatives: People who usually choose this hostel are the type of people that do not have any respect for others. If you stay at this hostel, do not expect to have decent sleep at night because party animals will be screaming outside your room all night. Although the hostel has indicated to guests that they should not be making loud noises at night, no staff will actually be enforcing that rule. Party animals are free to roam around and do whatever they want. I do not recommend this hostel to anyone.

The Generator Hostel/Hotel is by far one of the best. It has more of a boutique hotel feel than the typical hostel vibe which is phenomenal. Initially we booked a private room which was great & had an awesome terrace with a decent view. However, upon our third guests arrival we were informed by the staff that collectively we had spent enough to be upgraded to the penthouse. OMG was it an amazing experience: wrap around terrace with an incredible view, sleeps 6 with 3 individual beds, wine, cava, & beer filled fridge was ours at no additional cost, built in sound system throughout the room, separate sinking tub that also had a view of the entire city, private bathroom, and rain shower. Thank you Generator, best travel experience ever with incredible customer service! Special thanks to Leo & the guy who's almost always at the front door greeting and assisting guest throughout the day (sorry didn't catch his name). I will definitely stay again upon my next visit to Barcelona and look for other Generators in the cities where I travel. My friend went on to Rome & stayed in a Generator there that she said was equally as great.

Staff was very very friendly, helpful, building was cool, bar was nice. The only negative was the small bathtoom and shower. Everything else was great!

I loved the cleanliness of the hostel. Close to main attractions!

Very safe, very clean, great atmosphere, staff assisted in navigating the town, anything we needed was supplied immediately

Friendly staff, very clean and well located. Nice way to safe money in Barcelona.

Each encounter with staff required waiting at least 5-10 mins. I was most disappointed that the day I checked out, after realizing I had left an item in my room, I returned a few hours later and asked the receptionists if I could check the room, and they told me a custodian would enter the room to check. I waited for 45 minutes, asking a couple more times on the status and was told, "They will get to it." I informed staff that I was going to miss my train if I did not leave soon, and I still was not helped and had to leave without being able to retrieve my belongings from the room.

Very nice hostel a short walk to most things in Barcelona! Clean room, very comfortable bed, good food and drinks in attached restaurant/bar! Highly recommend!
