Hotel Indigo Barcelona - Plaza Catalunya4.0 out of 5.0

I stayed 4 nights in this hotel for business. Hotel and rooms are clean and modernly equipped. Hotel breakfast is good and plentiful. Hotel bar serves nice snacks and local wine. Staff in Indigo is helpful and polite. Bed comfort is only average, because I found the bed being a bit too soft. This is of cource a subjective opinion. Rooms are not very well noise isolated, and due to that some outside noise from the corridors will enter into your room. This can be anoying very early mornings (~05.30) when people are leaving to the airport, etc. Hotel gym is only basic. It is nicely situated in the sun deck / yard, but it is simply a bit too small for any real exercise. Overall a positive visit = 4 stars for a 4 star hotel.
Great hotel location close to many sites; we walked to Catalunya Plaza, Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter, the Arch de Triumph and the Sagrada Familia Cathedral. The staff was very friendly and efficient and the rooms were clean, comfortable and roomy ( by European standards).
Charged 50 euros more than I agreed to at booking. They tried to charge me 70 extra but lower it after I got upset. I honestly feel like I was scammed. I might have expected that from a smaller local hotel but expected better from IHG. I booked a sofa bed room that accommodates 3 people by calling IHG. It says on the website, clearly, that it fits 3 in a double bed and sofa bed. initially thought there were going to be 2 of us, so booked for 2, but mentioned to the call center agent that my other friend might join. We booked last minute after flight issues from JFK/Boston so we weren't sure exactly what was going to happen. The call center agent said, yes, it's fine, the room can be for 3, just tell us. No mention of an additional fee. So when my friend did end up joining us I went online, changed the reservation to 3, and got an confirmation email with the original price. Check in was the FIRST time anyone said anything about an extra person charge. To put three people in a room it states is for three people. They tried to explain you're booking space for people, not the room itself, but by that logic then all 2 people rooms would cost half as much if they held only 1 person. 50 euros is a lot of money and I never would have stayed there if the call center agent told me about the charge when I asked, or the computerized confirmation reflected the actual price. Also, the pool was closed both days I was there and that's a big part of why I picked the hotel! It's all quite unfortunate because it would be been a perfectly fine stay otherwise.
Just stayed 4 nights. Overall experience very positive, hotel is fairly central so easy to walk or taxi about. Rooms are large, no bath though just showers. Breakfast was buffet but very substantial. Safe in room and also careful watch on front door of hotel so felt very safe. No issues staying again.
After our Windstar cruise, we spent two nights in Indigo Hotel. It was very conveniently located with friendly, helpful staff. We were upgraded to a larger room overlooking the pool so it was very quiet. We enjoyed the bar as the wine was only 3.50 euros. We had the breakfast and it was fair-not the best as the eggs, bacon etc were not hot. However, there was a large selection of pastries. The room was very comfortable with a good mattress and nice linens. However, there are no English speaking channels available on the TV. I highly recommend the Hotel Indigo.
We stayed here for one night before our cruise. As an IHG platinum member we got a room upgrade and a discount on breakfast. We took the express bus from the airport so it was very easy to get to the hotel. The location is great and walking distance from great places to eat and sights to see. The breakfast was very good with lots of options. The service at the hotel is excellent and since it was our anniversary they sent up two glasses champagne after we checked in. We travel all over the world and this is a hotel we would definitely stay in again. It is a trendy boutique style smaller hotel but the service and attention to detail match 5 star locations anywhere in the world.
We returned to the hotel where we spent our honeymoon when the hotel was relatively new. We again received an upgrade to a room with a poolside terrace and were slightly disappointed to find that the sofa cushions were mouldy and had cigarette burns. This did not however detract from the enjoyment of our stay, Check in was efficient, Isabel is friendly and efficient with excellent English (also a solid 10), breakfast was enjoyable. The best aspect of this hotel is it's location, just a short walk from Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla. Will certainly return
I loved the decorations! When I walked into my room I felt like I was going to stay at Casa Batlò. The decoration at this hotel is all about Gaudí so if you like his work you will be delighted. I had a jacuzzi bathtub in my room which I found rather low-key. The one I have at home is much more bubbly. Anyway, you don't pick your hotel because of jacuzzi bathtub :) Generous breakfast menu. The pool is actually a pond but it looks rather big on the photos. The be eakfast buffet was quite generous but no bubbles were provided even though it's a 4-star hotel. The good thing is thst brekfast is served until 12 :) don't expect to find any food there if you arrive at 11:45 though. Lovely patio with the pool and tropical plants. Perfect location - 3 minutes by foot to Plaça Catalunya. I'll come back for sure.
Barcelona is packed with good hotels in great central locations, this one has the added value of being on a quiet street, but just min away from anywhere on foot. The staff is friendly and professional. The design is super cool, fun and colorful, perfectly matched to the city. However I felt it was a bit overdone and not always 100% functional. I was traveling solo, just one night, with minimum luggage, so I took a small room, it was full of everything one could need, and chockablock with interestingly designed decor, but it was just a bit too cramped and many simple things, such as the luggage rack, desk and chair, etc. were almost impossible to really use. So keep this in mind and opt for the larger room options.
Stayed her for 3 nights with my husband and 6 year old daughter Hotel staff extremely friendly and helpful Hotel spotless and rooms just perfect Location is also great for accessing most tourist spots or within easy reach for transport We would recommend for a great stay
