Hotel Gotico4.0 out of 5.0

The best thing about the hotel is it’s location. It is in the heart of the Gothic district. The area is packed with great cafes and restaurants and fantastic atmosphere. The hotel looks like any business hotel in the heart of any European city. It is basic and clean. The entrance is on a busy street making pick ups and drop off difficult. Our first room in which we spent one night was so noisy sleep was impossible. Street noise went on all night , mostly drunk tourists. We asked for a quieter room which was clearly no surprise to the staff. They gave us a room at the back of the hotel which was well away from the street. However every water pipe in the building must have run through the walls in our room. Every flush or use of tap or shower resulted in a loud cascade of running water. For the money this was not a good hotel. It felt like budget backpacker accommodation but are charging premium prices.
1. The management is the greasiest I have ever seen: they change 2 euros per day for the safe. 2. The solid soap is too small and therefore very uncomfortable. 3. The wifi reception is bad. 4. The service is too slow. I’ll never come back.
The location of the hotel is amazing! Minutes from the met station, local restaurants and cafes and all the gothic quarter has to offer! I think this is one of the nicer areas to stay in and we walked everywhere from here. There are many comments about the rooms, we stayed in room 217 and it was fine, big enough for the 2 of us and no issues with the bathroom size etc but you can see the rooms vastly vary in size. There was a balcony that opens to a strange indoor small patio area so no views of the outside but didn't bother us in the slightest - to the top floor there is an area with table and chairs etc that you can go out to, we went up to see it but didn't stay there but could take a drink up and have a little relax. The decor is modern and bright, the room was a bit dark because there was no window to the outside but wasn't an issue. The only slight negative is that the walls are thin and we had a family with young children in the room next to us who we constantly heard crying throughout the night! Had we have had different neighbours we might not have even noticed! Good hotel, staff were friendly so would stay again when visiting
We came here for a four night break. We were pleasantly surprised by the appearance of the hotel. We later found out that it had just had a refurb' completed. Our room was a small double, not uncommon in a city centre hotel, which had a nice private rooftop terrace. The air conditioning in the room worked beautifully and was not to noisy to stop us sleeping. The included breakfast was better than expected with something for everyone and all diets. Service at the reception and in the dining room was first class. When booking in another group arrived shortly after us and pushed in but the staff ignored this and proceeded to check us in well done them. This hotel is right in the centre of the bari gotica and the hotel is a one minute walk from the nearest metro station. Great location great hotel will come back here again.
Great location in the Gothic section. We walked everywhere from the hotel. No need to taxi or bus except when left to go to train station. Staff was helpful and gave some recommendations for dinner. Room was very clean and quiet. We had room facing the main street so it was fun to open the doors to the small balcony and look out. Not too noisy. Would definitely stay here again.
The highlight of this stay was the location which is in the Gothic area and within a few minutes walk of Las Ramblas and many restaurants, cafes and bars. The hotel itself is clean and the reception staff were friendly however the breakfast was disappointing.
Was in barcelona for 4 nights. room was small but had a small balcony that you could stand on. location is excellent and walking distance to most of the tourist attractions. metro right in front of the hotel to take you to sagrada familia.
Room 309. No words can describe how bad it is. Just unbelievable. Zero quality, zero space. €140 for the hotel. Never again in hotel gótico . Clearly a 3 star. Dont get fooled by the internet pics. staff was nice though.
Stayed here 3 nights touring Barcelona. If you can manage the metro, you are golden. Mere steps from the Jaume I metro stop. Along a fairly busy street with a pharmacy next door and great food nearby in the gothic quarter. Staff was pleasant, although we didn't need much interaction with them. Room was clean, a bit cramped, but that's to be expected. If you have time, go up to the top floor and walk around until you see the door for the outdoor rooftop patio. Its nothing amazing, but a nice little break for a beer or wine (BYOB). Didn't try the breakfast buffet because we don't feel like spending that much and it seems most locals don't eat a big breakfast anyway. Have a blast and enjoy the wonderful city and people of Barcelona.
stayed here for 3 nights, centrally located, lovely hotel, easy to get around barcelona from here would use again, nice boutique feel to the hotel. we used the train/metro to get here easy to find , metro stop just meters from the hotel. we had a balcony overlooking the street was great to people watch from there!
