Our stay started out fine with an easy check-in, however, it took a turn for the worse when we asked for a dinner recommendation. We arrived a little later in the evening and everyone in the group was pretty hungry. The receptionist recommended a place with a “20 minute walk”. Based on that we set off only to find we were sent to the most touristy and expensive section of Barcelona. The most frustrating part was that on the second night we had an AMAZING tapas dinner at Bar Chill less than 30 seconds walk from the hotel with pitchers of delicious sangria! I mean we ordered one of everything on the menu and not one disappointment. The next morning we did not have hot water in the master shower and not enough towels for our party. The master shower would not drain and the shower is very mildewy. Issues were reported and rectified but again frustrating. Every single time, every.single.time we called reception no one answered the phone. We had to walk down or call the main Castro line to get a hold of someone. This was a huge inconvenience. The apartment itself is well appointed. Kitchen has all you need and plenty of space for our party. The furniture and walls are showing quite a bit of wear and tear though and should be looked at. The shampoo and toiletries provided were much appreciated. Housekeeping did not tend to our room one time during our stay even after I left the placard on the door requesting so. The hotel location is a 5 minute walk to Sagrada Família and metro station. The free WiFi is pretty slow but you can upgrade for an additional cost. If I were coming back to Barcelona I would not stay here again but try another hotel.
We chose this as it said there was indoor pool, but this turned out not to be the case. Instead it is possible for a small charge to go to a nearby spa if you're above 18yo. Our kids are below 18, so we didn't have any spa. Wifi is extremely slow/nonexistent. Apart from that the appartment is splendid, very large and good beds, nice, well equipt kitchen.
Spent 3 nights in this lovely apartment. It was clean, spacious and the appliances all new. Furniture was modern but not so much the beds. Our apartment had 3 bedrooms, the master bedroom had the bathroom inside and there was another full bathroom next to the other rooms. I must say for two adults these bedrooms were tiny and the beds small. On the other hand some of the bedrooms need some painting. The apartment also has a huge balcony with nice views. Round the corner you have a lot of shops, mini markets and bakeries. The only thing I recommend staff is to improve the check in, since you have a machine and sometimes it doesn’t work. Also you have a telephone to call for help but nobody answers.
The good is well described on the appartment web site, the location is realy ideal and the appartment is clean, well equiped and nicely decorated. The bad is that the SPA is not part of the hotel (not clearly stated as such in the description) and several details are realy irritating for a this level of rental and price, nothing is complimentary : Small bottles of water for €5 each (not even one for free), coffee capsule or tea for nearly €1, €10 for the luggage lockers (I travel all year long for my job and this is the FIRST time that I have to pay for this), two few employees to manage the check-in/check-out peak times, don't expect them to call a cab for you... Those small details, which can easily be solved by a clearer communication, unfortunately reduce the beauty of the experience. To finish on a positive mark, the roof top is really cool to have a drink while enjoying the sunshine on the Sagrada Familia towers.
stayed here for around 6 days. i wasn’t happy at all. we moved first rooms as we could hear the tube at night. wasn’t impressed. so we moved to a different room - the new room had a damp patch. not happy. online it advertised for free wifi but actually the free wifi was awful couldn’t load anything. or £3 a day for the fast wifi!! somehow from my room our things went missing - my fitbit charger, my laptop/sleeve went missing, our reusable food boxes. staff got really defensive when i asked where they went. i could hear the shoes and people moving around from the people on the floor above me. but wouldn’t recommend staying here.
The first night I could hardly sleep due for the noise of the Metro, we moved rooms and it was marginally better. However I think that the noise and vibration of the Metro could be heard throughout the building. In our second apartment the paint was peeling from the wall where there seemed to be a leaky bathroom. The walls generally needed painting and the wooden skirt boards had big chunks knocked off with pale undecorated areas below the cherry wood surface. The bathrooms had black mould growing in the grouting and a huge build up of limescale. One of the shelves was coming off the wall and was not attended to in the 6 nights we stayed. The platform on which the basin in my en-suite sat was worn out and the veneer was lifting and coming off totally in some areas. Added to this the shower curtain fell down during the night and woke me up and I thought it was someone banging on the door. I asked for it to be fixed as we had paid for 2 bathrooms and a roll of tape was brought to do this. They charge over a Euro for each coffee pod and leave only 3 which you have to pay for. The reception staff are variable but not always there. Water in the room is 5 euros for a tiny bottle. The duvets are covered with sheets which means they come into skin contact with your body if you are not careful. I did not see them being taken out of empty rooms to be laundered. The worst part is that several things went missing from our rooms and reception staff were unhelpful. These things were a Macbook sleeve, a Fitbit charger, some food boxes and a blue Nicole Farhi top. There were a group upstairs who clumped around in high heels and this was pretty irritating. The daily clean was excellent. Overall terrible value for money! Bathroom amenities excellent. Spa and gym are a few yards up the road, the classes are excellent and the spa is superb. Castro is not exclusive it’s TATTY!
We are a group of 4 people who stayed in an apartment on Saturday 30/09/17. We have booked online on the Castro exclusive residence website, a package for 1 night including access to the spa facilities and breakfast. All of these facilities were really making a difference with the other hotels and that's why we had chosen the Castro exclusive residence. We arrived and checked in successfully without any problem. The apartment was beautifully furnished, clean and ready for us to enjoy. Regarding the facilities advertised, we were rather disappointed : indeed the spa was not in the hotel but in a separate building at the corner of the street. Moreover the spa is not a dedicated spa but the annexed facilities of a gym room. And on top of that, on the day we visited the spa, the building had no water availableTHE BUILDING HAD NO WATER AVAILABLE! In other words, there was NO hammam, NO shower available, not to mention a likely POOR CLEANING service on that day due to lack of water. As for breakfast, we were happy to book a breakfast to enjoy in the hotel premises. The breakfast is not served in the hotel but in a gym cafeteria, located outside of the hotel premises. This was not mentioned clearly prior to booking. Moreover the BREAKFAST SERVED ONLY FROM 9AM. This was not mentioned clearly prior to booking. Some of us had to leave early to the airport, they could not enjoy a breakfast they had paid for ( early being 7.30am). If we had been aware of the breakfast time, we would not have booked the breakfast. We requested a cancellation of the breakfast but the reception only redirected us to a customer service email. Finally, with a 20euros breakfast charge per person, we would have expected not only extended hours of operation but also large menu options and better quality and fresher products. Our disappointment was big because the hot dishes only consisted of very basic eggs and bacon, the buffet offered few fruits not looking fresh at all, only 2 types of cured meat were available... In overall, the experience was not very satisfying compared to the high expectations we had after checking the advertised services and facilities. We contacted the hotel by email by Facebook and until now (15 Days) NO RESPONSE FROM THE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
We had a 3 bedroom apartment during our 3 day stay after a cruise that ended in Barcelona. It was only 2 blocks from the famous Sagrada Failia church in a nice neighborhood. The apartments were clean, spacious and just perfect for our group of 4 adults. This was way better than staying at a hotel, as there is a full kitchen, a balcony, 3 private bedrooms and plenty to shops and eateries in the area. Overall, a great experience!
Castro Exclusive Residences by the Sagrada Familia made our trip to Barcelona one to remember. It started with Talia who was so helpful and super nice. She answered all of our questions and showed us she really cared. The apartment was fully furnished and everything worked great. I definitely recommend this place to if you are staying in Barcelona. Hopefully you have the pleasure to meet Talia. She will make you feel at home.
I rang and asked to speak to the manager . I was told he would ring me back which he never did. I then asked reception staff how best to make contact with management. They told be to email in and gave me email address . I have not had a response to my email. While I was at the apartment I had to help out two families who had arrived after long flights to find no one at reception to help them check in. This place could be great ,as it's in a great location and room layout is good. I have marked it terrible because management/owner do not communicate with you if there is an issue and have ignored my emails and phone messages.
