AC Hotel Victoria Suites by Marriott

We just returned from a wonderful holiday trip to Barcelona. The AC Victoria Suites was the perfect place from which to explore the city as a family. We stayed in a family suite which was well equipped, spacious and comfortable. The hotel is easily accessible by Metro or on foot. It was nice to be close to the action of the city but just a little removed from the bustle when it was time to sleep. If you have kids (or adults) who are Barca fans, it is a perfect location. We loved the hotel's restaurant for breakfast as well. Highly recommend!

Second time in the hotel...such a great place to rest after meetings and work...honestly the best place and very good located, 4 years traveling to Barcelona and finally I got my hotel...comfortable, clean, top 4 stars, convenience and the best the service, specially the reception people and room hotel in Barcelona!

The stay started as very friendly on the first day. But racism rears it’s ugly head on the second day where the waitresses in the adjoining restaurant completely ignored us in the table. Even we called for service they ignored us. We had to complain to the manager before we got service. The other tables occupied by Spaniards were treated like kings. I think they have issues with foreigners. It is a disgrace to Marriot and I am thinking to cancel my Marriot membership.

This hotel is lovely, excellent service. Very clean, very modern - everything you would expect from a Marriott. The staff were very helpful and prompt to deliver any service. Within walking distance to the Metro and to FC hop on hop off bus stop. Close walking distance to lovely bakery and a yummy pizza restaurant. The only negative would be the cost of the breakfast 20.50 euros.

Booked here for 9 nights as part of a business trip. Other reviews mostly fair, but here are some additional points. First, room sizes are really good, especially if you are here for more than a few nights. I stayed 2 weeks at the end of May at a sister AC, callled Irla...rooms were all very, very small and I did my upmost to stay out. The rooms here are a great size, as one would expect of a suites style hotel. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Be sure to smile and at least attempt a few phrases in Spanish or Catalan,,,,you will be amazed at the reaction this simple courtesy will bring. Did I encounter a grumpy person? Sure, but this was the exception and a very rare one at that. The bed is very comfortable and I don't understand the complaint about the shower. Perhaps they had a room where the clamp was worn out. Mine was fine and it also was a deep soaker style tube..perfect for soaking the body after a full day of walking. There is a little fridge and auto coffe maker in the standard suite. I asked for the refrigerator to be emptied so I could put in my own stufff. No sweat and they took care of things right away. Did I see some mold style stains on the top of the shower area and bathroom entrance? Yes (room 603) but remember, this is an area that gets very humid in the summer. The hotel could do itself a favor by installing vent fans. In any event, that bathroom is spacious, with room for two, if needed, as well as including a bidet. As a Marriot Lifetime Platinum member, there are only a few "perks" for staying. Free high speed wifi and about 50% discount for breakfast. The restaurant is always busy because options seems to be popular with both guests and visitors alike. My only gripe about breakfast was the fried eggs were never hot, however I would had the plate to the waiter and he'd nuke them, no problem. By the 3rd day, they knew me and would just take the plate from me while I was still at the buffet line, heat my eggs and bring them to the table, along with a bottle of sparkling water every morning...they made the effort to get to know me. As for location it is in quite neighborhood. There are many nice restaurants in the area and you are about 15 mins, by foot, from a large El Corte Ingles, which has a big supermarket. If you walk for 5 mins, it's easy to catch several bus lines that can take you to the town center, gothic center, etc (about 30 mins). Is this "walk out the front door and be in the middle of the Gothic quarter" type of location? No, but I will take the trade off of a spacious room and easy public transport any day of the week. Besides, google maps makes moving around the city by bus / metro / tram super easy. Folks, this is not a full 300 room Marrriot so let's stop writing reviews that complain about not being one. ACs are a great part of the Marriot brand, stylish, modern and with their own quirks. My only grump about this location is the fitness center is impractical to the point be they needed to put something in just to tick the fitness center on premises box.

I deliberately chose a hotel that was a little from the centre of the city. It was a quiet, but accessible neighbourhood. The hotel is modern, clean and crisp. I was happy from the moment I entered. Efficient check in, good sized room, clean, nice shower. Dinner and breakfast both fine and only good service. I didn't find it necessary to use cabs as the metro was a short walk away and easy to use with ticket machines in English. A good, though only short, stay. I was very happy. If you want to be in the midst of noise and bustle, this isn't for you, but if you want a well-priced, quiet and good hotel, then I'd recommend it and would stay again.

Staff were really friendly , very smooth check in and check out , what really surprised me that in the unfortunate day with the terroristic ramblas incident one of the staff was waiting in the lobby making sure that we are ok and had a list of rooms to check if there was any missing guests, superb service and extremely friendly environment. Only downside for me is the breakfast buffet need to have more options and varieties

The bathroom was designed by someone who apparently never took a shower. The shower nozzle is on a flexible hose, but – inexplicably -- the nozzle doesn’t fit into the nozzle-holder that is mounted to the wall. As a result, the shower nozzle has to be held in one hand throughout the shower. To make matters worse, there is no shower curtain, and there are substantial patches of black mould on the ceiling. There are some strong positives. The staff were very patient with us and seemed to have a good attitude. I liked that we could choose between opening a balcony door or using the air conditioning. (Some rooms don't have a balcony.) We got a stylishly furnished one-bedroom suite at a very attractive rate in the high season, although this is offset by the hotel’s location that is 5 km from the city centre. I suggest avoiding the pretentious, overpriced restaurant in the hotel. Instead, for an informal meal of pasta or pizza, try Bugui restaurant at 633 Ave Diagonal. For a small food store, go uphill two streets from the hotel to Passeig de Manuel Girona. However in general, there are few stores or restaurants in the immediate area. If you know where to look, the Maria Cristina metro (subway) station is nearby. The hotel is in an area of upscale apartments, and the area feels safe at all hours. The hotel is hellish to find because it’s on a minor dead-end street and there are no signs whatsoever except a small sign at the entrance door. How about posting some signs?

Good value for money! Rooms were very comfortable and spacious, amenities in the room like bed and bathroom are good. Front desk service staff are very polite and professional. Stayed for 4 nights and gotta say the room cleaning/tidying is great. Slightly off city centre but didn't bother me as the direct train from Maria Christina to Liceu brings me there in 20mins (€1/ trip if you get the 10 rides ticket). Didn't try the breakfast as was too pricey but food at the restaurant was good (only thing is staff there don't seem too friendly/ focused on non-hotel customers) Overall still a great stay!

We had a week in a two bedroom room in August...I will start with the positive.. I think it was decent value for money....the hotel is in a very nice location in the North of the City....It is a twenty minute drive from the airport....within walking distance of the Barcelona Football Stadium and probably 15 to 20 minute drive to the centre of Barcelona....Its a pleasant suburban area and there are nearby Bus stops.. tram stops... and the Metro Station at Maria Christina to take you into the City...It cost about four euros return on the metro into the centre of Barcelona and took around twenty minutes....Its a short walk to Diagonal... a long and busy road which has lots of shops and amenities....The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful.....the room was cleaned every day....there is a restaurant and breakfast service...the room itself was a generous size...a large double bed and two single beds....there was a coffee table and a small balcony which was nice to get the sun....The negatives were that the room décor could have been a little better...I noticed several scuff and scratch marks on the furniture...I thought there was a health and safety issue in that we were on the ninth floors and the bedroom windows could be fully opened and somebody could fall out.. which at that height could be fatal....also on the small balcony...there was a protective plastic barrier.. but it was only three foot high...and a large child or adult could easily fall over it...which again from nine floors up could prove fatal...better use could have been made of the room space...there was very little storage space in the second bedroom......The worst thing was the kitchenette.... There was a small kitchen area with two hot plates...but no cutlery or crockery...we were told that if we wanted cutlery and crockery we would have to pay fifteen euros per day to hire them from the hotel...this would have totalled over one hundred euros for the week...unacceptable...we could have gone to a local shop and bought our own for twenty euros.....The choice of food at breakfast was limited...Overall I would still recommend the hotel for the money...
