Nice location and beautiful views Building and rooms are a bit dated - and not simply in an historic way
The property and staff were very nice and friendly. The room was outdated but clean. There was no TV or air conditioning.
Big summer camp lodge feel with beautiful views of Northeast Harbor. Nice breakfast on the deck and great location to Acadia National Park. A real gem in the area.
This was a classic hotel experience. You can feel the history of the property the moment you step inside the lobby. If you are aware that this is a property that is over 100 years old, then your expectations should match that fact. The room was very clean. The view was very nice. The furniture is classic. The location was about 2.5 miles from Acadia, so that online advertising that this is waking distance is pretty subjective, Jordan’s pond the closest Acadia highlight, is another 1.5 miles from the entrance. For moderately active people, driving to Acadia would probably be preferred. The hotel is also about 10 miles from Bar Harbor Main Street. My husband and I enjoyed our stay very much.
The Inn is a very charming, historic property in a great location on MDI. The staff was very friendly and attentive to any needs. The food was also very good and fresh. However, being an old building, there is substantial noise throughout the hallways and from guests on the floor above you, from thin walls, windows and doors. Additionally, the claw foot tub with surround shower curtain can be a tight space and challenging to comfortably shower. While this is a lovely place, for the price per night, it could use some modern upgrades in sound and bathrooms.
Awesome hotel in a great location. We made the mistake of staying during peak season and it was full of kids and tourists. The walls are super thin and there was constant noise going until 1 or 2 in the morning.
Hotel is over 100 years old and shows it's age. Good character but in need of general maintenance. Room size was great but bathroom small and not practical for getting ready. Setting is great and staff was helpful ownership needs to spend money on some upgrades.
The Asticou inn has a beautiful restaurant and back deck that looks over an amazing view of Northeast Harbor. It has a beautiful lawn and pool and in the front a lovely porch. The staff was lovely and we had a fabulous dinner. Our room was large and looked out front so there was no view - which was fine, but it was not terribly well appointed. The real horror was the bathroom which was unclean, with a tiny Home Depot reject sink with knobs that looked like they were new 20 years ago. A creaky, tiny, very low toilet, and a bathtub/shower we didn't even deign to use. At these prices, it was really unacceptable.
Great hotel clean comfortable friendly staff I highly reccomend it
The Asticou is an old style New England Inn with commensurate atmosphere and charm. The view over the harbor from our tiny balcony was lovely and the flower garden and pool were inviting. The special Asticou Azalea Garden and the Thuya Garden are a very short walk away. Dining can be enjoyed inside or on the porch, both with the lovely view.
The Asticou is a quaint antique bed and breakfast-style inn. We had a suite on the fourth floor with sloped ceilings. I'm not sure if we had A/C or not. We did have an en suite bathroom., big plus. There is a fine dining restaurant and bar downstairs. They have a daily afternoon tea for those interested. There is an outdoor pool with a spectacular view of Northeast Harbor. The grounds and gardens around the Inn were beautiful. Great location to explore the western side of Mt Desert Island and a much quieter experience than staying in Bar Harbor. Our family had never stayed at a B&B before, but we liked the Asticou.
Located within a 5-minute walk of Asticou Azalea Garden, Asticou Inn is within a 15-minute stroll of Acadia National Park. This 48-room, 3-star hotel has a restaurant, an outdoor pool, and free in-room WiFi.
