We stayed at this hotel some years ago and our only problem then was that we had a city-view room which afforded loud music from across the street until the early hours, and therefore sleep quality was non-existent. However, the location is ideal for us as we have friends in the area and so we decided to stay again and pay a premium for a river-view room, hoping we would not be disturbed as we were before. I’d forgotten the access to the hotel is impractical from the road if you’re alighting from a car and have suitcases, but fortunately the porter spotted us and rescued us. I was disappointed with the bedroom: The towel rail was hanging off the wall, a cabinet door was hanging off it’s hinges, a bedside table had tissue under it to stop it wobbling, paintwork was peeling or chipped here there and everywhere, including the terrace furniture. The fridge looked out of place. An unprofessional job had been made of retouching paintwork on the walls (in the bedroom and in the corridors). The surfaces of the furniture were deteriorating. All mostly cosmetic but nonetheless inconsistent with the luxury description and price tag. Dinner in the restaurant was acceptable but the breakfast was very disappointing, both in choice and quality, and perhaps the worst I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. The staff had displayed a bright pink box with the words TIP BOX in large letters, probably wondering why they don’t get tips and hoping to facilitate things a bit with more conspicuous signage. My recommendation would be to stop dragging your feet as you shuffle from table to table, smile at the guests, and give the kitchen some feedback. Our plan on our last day was to pack, chill out in the room until checkout time, and have lunch locally at one of the excellent noodle cafes nearby, before setting off to our next destination. Unfortunately during the morning, a hammer drill from inside the bedroom next door, drilling into our adjoining wall, made use of our room untenable, and so we had to leave early. All in all, far too average for the price.
My sister and I stayed at this hotel this month (April 2018) and overall were very happy with the property. Most importantly if you like the Khao San area of Bangkok then this location is brilliant as you can walk over every night. Mind you, if you're more interested in other areas of Bangkok (e.g. Siam Paragon or Asiatique) then this hotel is quite far and some tour companies will not even pick you up from here. Another really great plus was the beautiful location by the river. It not only made breakfasts really enjoyable but provided a very cheap and fun way to get to areas of the city by boat. It also provides a stunning view from the rooftop pool so don't forget to check that out. Lastly it's important to call out just how amazing the service was. Everyone at the hotel went out of their way to help us and accommodate our requests whenever possible. I do have to say that my next stay at this hotel, I likely will not pay extra for the breakfast. While the food is good, there is a lack of variety and options (we ended up eating their cereal every morning). Since you're by Khao San Road, I would recommend having breakfast at one of the cafes in the area instead of the hotel. Overall a really, really nice stay and great area!
great location with the Phra Athit/13 pier in front enabling you fast moving over the busy Chao Phraya river, a park close by as well as Rambuutti street (a must visit in the evening) the Khao San road and even the Grand Palace at walking distance Hotel's resto terrasse is a great place for breakfast and evening cocktail as well as dinner
I stayed there for 1 night, after I decided to move from Sukhumvit (too much red-light) to this area. Good choice! Super Location: Just at the Pier for the river Taxis, Close (but not too Close) to Khao San Road. Good, clean rooms. Super Roof-top pool with fantastic view over the river. Excellent Price-value!
This is the third time I have stayed here and on the previous two occasions was really pleased with everything this hotel had to offer in terms of location, value for money and condition of the room...however that was not the case this time. Whilst the location remains the best selling point the room we stayed in was tired and in desperate need of refurbishment. Admittedly we booked the cheapest room as we were only staying for two nights and although we didn't expect much we did feel it fell a long way short of our previous experiences. I personally felt that the room was very expensive given the condition and also that breakfast wasn't included and in fact could have got a much better deal at a 4/5 star hotel. In short, in order to tempt me back I would have to be convinced that a refurbishment had taken place and all rooms were of a standard befitting the price they are charging.
I just had two nights in Bangkok, and as always in the last couple of years, I stayed at Navalai. For me, the perfect place in Bangkok and great value for money. So yes, I will return again and again.
Enjoyed staying here for three nights on my vacation in Thailand. The breakfasts outside overlooking the busy river were tasty and fun. Dinner was good, too. Liked that many sites were within walking distance. The staff were very helpful, as well.
We stayed here for a couple of nights. The staff were great -really friendly and helpful. Lovely bar overlooking the river. Our air conditioning wasn’t wasn’t working very well so we had to move rooms after the first night. Nice, average hotel.
This hotel offers great access to Bangkok's wonderful sights .Khao san road is a short walk offering many restaurants and markets It also Backs on to the river with a ferry pier at your disposal a roof top pool and bar, great meals in house (although not cheap) The staff here could not do enough for us -Spacious room very comfortable reasonable appointments. All of the main attractions are a short cab-tuk tuk or ferry ride away .
Nice (but not really cheap) and spacious room, balcony with riverview and a good location. Next to the ferry pier, many places and sights are easy to reach by express boat. Bamglampoo's tourist area is in walking distance. The room was clean, well equiped and friendly staff. Breakfast is nothing special, but nice on the riverfront terrace.
