Our second stay at this hotel as we liked it the fist time however in two years it’s gone downhill considerably. We booked two rooms and checkin was a long process the rooms we were given we old and smelly and we asked for better rooms the second rooms were just as bad and we refused them as well to be told they don’t have anymore rooms, then amazing they found better rooms on the 6th floor still not the best but better than the last two. If you like a cold shower that’s what you will get, internet is terrible and bed as hard as a brick curtains ripped and rooms very out dated needs a good renovation. On a good note location is good breakfast is good, staff are fantastic except for the young lady on night duty she was rude and arrogant, hanging up on us twice while we where trying to order, would we stay here again definitely not.
One great thing about this hotel is very helpful and nice service staff. The rest is simply hopeless. They market themselves as a "retro" hotel. Guys, retro is about style, not about age. What you find there is not retro, it's just old. It is difficult to find a piece of furniture that's not broken in some way. Electric installations are hanging on tape and are painted over. Room keys work when they feel like it. Water temperature in the shower is also has strong character: it reacts to anything but your attempts to set it. Internet is slow, has a brain-dead disconnection and authorization system.
Advertised as ' Retro ' but that's just another word for old and not maintained very well. Breakfast is very good and front desk are very helpful. Hotel is close to many good tourist places and it's about $65 Aussie Dollars per night. TV - really bad reception and all Thai channels except one english news channel - Al Jezzera? The Internet is horrible. Low reception, continually have to login and always cuts out. However we were not in Bangkok for tv or internet so were happy with our stay due to position.
On arrival it is clear that this hotel needs some renovation and our room balcony faced a concrete wall which was disappointing but the Thai welcome, friendly staff, good food and clean environment made up for this! We were traveling with two children 4 and 8 and the clean pool and it's setting met all our expectations! Breakfast was a good mix of Thail and western food, something for everyone. The hotel was located well for walking to markets, river boat and temple attractions in the old town, fantastic stay.
It's old. From the lobby to corridor to the room, you can see clock has stopped in 90's. BUT, everything seemed maintained very well and clean. That was very interesting hotel for me in a good way Room was spacious and ceiling was high, bright with sunlight coming though big balcony windows. Everything was old but clean and was in good condition. I actually liked it! Staff at the reception were very kind and helpful. Made us happy from the check in to check out. It’s located in quiet and peaceful in somewhere far from the crazy city center and Khaosan Road but it can be a little inconvenient to move out by foot or bus. But still that won’t be problem if you move around by grab or taxi. Generally it was very pleasant stay and will go back when we are back in Bangkok.
The most comfortable point is the room very clean and soft bed, we also have a balcony with the city view. But I cannot use the swimming outside as there is no cover and really really hot under the very strong sun in April.
Lovely helpful staff, great buffet b'fast options, nice clean pool. Within walking distance to KhoaSan Road is a real plus. TukTuk driver went out of his way to give us a bit of a tour of the area. Would stay here again if ever travelling in that area.
Staff were so helpful and extremely friendly. Pool was lovely and location great! Can walk to Khao San road easily in 10 min, large 7-11 (and smaller ones) near by. Rooms spacious and clean, beds were decent and comfortable. We have found our new stop over place in Bangkok!
Very friendly staff and an excellent breakfast buffet but the hotel is in serious need of updating and redecorating. It was shabby with lots of broken and worn down parts to the room and bathroom. This meant it couldn't be kept clean because of all the nooks and crannies. Air on only worked on one setting, bath tub had chinks out of it, skirting boards chipped, Windows inadequate. This hotel could be lovely given a big investment but as it stands, it is expensive for the low standard offers.
This hotel is a dump. I regretted every moment of my stay here wishing I had booked at the much better Nanda Hotel 200 m away. My room was awful - there was an odour, everything was old and it was dirty, BTW I had a superior room. The bathrooms were horrible and with the door closed I don't know where that additional odour came from. The towels were old and fraying. The wifi is almost non-existent. I saw a mouse run across the floor of the restaurant and the girls working there didn't even blink. Save yourself the horror - stay elsewhere. The pics must have been from 15/20 years ago because it looks nothing like that. It's old, smelly and just darn awful!
