Eastin Hotel Makkasan Bangkok4.0 out of 5.0

Our first experience started with the way we were greeted by the female manager at the front desk. She was not professional at all and did not provide us the rooms even at 1 pm, although many were available even after we told her that we had a full night flight. The only reason she kept citing was "check in time is at 2 pm." The superior rooms are sized okay, but the orientation of the beds make them look small. The orientation should be along the wall to make the rooms look bigger. The 7 feet work desk behind the bed seemed a bit out of place. The rooftop restaurant Attica at 23rd floor provides amazing views of the city and serves decent food and drinks.
The restaurant at the top floor has an amazing view. Location wise, its close to the Indira market, a proper Indian shopping area. Its a bit far from the airport though. Rooms are decent and well maintained.
Stayed in a nice suite at Hotel recently. Scored a top Floor Suite this visit. Suite was clean and tidy and spacious. Great value for money and plenty of room. Hotel is centrally located and in the garment district of BKK with lots of food outlets located nearby - shops, street food, food courts and restaurants and he night time markets. Staff at the hotel could not be more helpful and friendly. Breakfast offering tasty and plentiful If your tasting in BKK try the Eastin. Good value for money
The hotel has it all: big rooms, great staff, good wifi, really nice breakfast, clean rooms, a pool, skybar but the only downside is it's location. It's a bit outside of everything. So you'll need to walk to a skytrain or a boat to go into Bangkok itself. It's about a 10 min. walk to the nearest train station/boat. Travel tip: if you do choose this hotel, take a boat to the city center. It's by far the fastest method.
The hotel is located at a 5 minute walk from the Pratuman and Indra market square. The rooms are clean and neat but the staff at the lobby were not professional. The two gentleman at the conceirge did make up for them with their helpful and attitude, The hotel has a rooftop resaurant on the 23rd floor serving west asian food which seems out of place in south east asia. The breakfast spread was nice but found it to be repetitive for the three days of our stay
Front desk officer, Mr. Apiwit nickname "Bank", has the most excellent guest services I've experienced in Bangkok so far. It's my first trip to Bangkok and we decided to stay in Makkasan because it's in the heart of Bangkok. Rooms are clean and we have no issues with our stay at all. View is excellent because you can view the busy expressway of BKK to pass time haha! However, rooms are non-smoking so you gotta go to the pool level to smoke or downstairs the hotel. This hotel is located at a really convenient area as we are near to TALAD NEON Night Market :D Many eateries and pharmacies avail nearby.
*Great Location inside the city *Neat & well maintained rooms with great city view *Well equipped rooms *Descent breakfast buffet with very few halal dishes *Excellent Service *Shops & street food joints nearby

This is a long way off being a 4 star hotel. I simply could not recommend to anyone. We stayed 3 nights & encountered all of the following: 1. Power to the room going out numerous times. Person came to fix, said it was fixed & then it went out again before he could even leave the room. Then went out again when he said was fixed. Sat in darkness for nearly an hour while he tried to fix. From reading reviews this isn’t the first time this has happened 2. Holes in the bed sheets 3. Water running hot then cold whilst showering, not the end of the world I know, but still annoying 4. TV unable to be used using the remote control, had to get somebody to show us how to use & still didn’t work properly (no we are not thick)! 5. The noise! Vacuum cleaner used outside our door 7:30am, a wee bit early! 6. Check in took a ridiculously long time (we were the only ones checking in & plenty of staff there) Staff member Momo barely spoke, changed our room number 4 times THEN asked if we wanted twin or double bed & had to change room number again. No explanation of wi-fi code etc, had to ask later. Longest check-in ever & no explanation for the time taken. On the other hand check-out was quick & great service (sorry didn’t get their name). 7. The noise! Fire exit at end of corridor was opened & closed through out the day & night, I presume as a short cut for people too lazy to use the lift as there were always people traipsing past our room which was at the end of the corridor. Door set off an alarm every time it was opened, could hear it at all hours 8. The noise! People talking in corridors & in their rooms with their doors open. It sounds ridiculous but the noise really did reverberate around the floor, could hear every conversation. Which brings me to... 9. Yes this is very clearly a hotel frequented by Indians. Not an issue except for they seem to travel in large family groups hence the constant talking between rooms, using the fire exit & no consideration for other guests eg. We had children running riot outside our room after 11pm one night when we needed to get to sleep to be up early for flights. Noise travels far in this hotel. 10. The (sewerage type) smell on the ground floor was very noticeable all the time & sometimes in the lifts & lobby level also 12. Lady at the tour desk not helpful in recommending us a tour to see some temples & the city. We had better luck & great service from the concierge when she wasn’t there. 13. Lack of info in room about the local area. Area immediately around the hotel is run down but didn’t know where to walk to find the local mall/market etc. A local map in the room would have been helpful (google doesn’t tell you everything!) 14. Lack of info in room about the hotel spa. Really missing an opportunity as the spa services were AMAZING. You can have a very cheap massage at any number of the shops right outside the hotel (which we also did!) but also took advantage of the extra services provided by the hotel & well worth the extra money The sky bar is fantastic for a drink & seeing the Bangkok skyline but overall the hotel was disappointing. It became a joke to us about what else was going to happen each day. The main issue was the noise, we were pleased to be put at the end of the corridor thinking it would be quiet but not so. Enjoyed Bangkok but would not stay here again.
Great place to be in . Awesome view of city . No regrate . Will recommend others staff were well behaved one that need to improve is the check-in where we had to wait for 15 minutes that's makes was disappointed
