Checked in on a Friday afternoon and hotel was weirdly empty. Only a couple cars in the whole parking lot. Staff was friendly. Was given room 115 right next to the exit door. Looked like door use to have some sort of card swipe access but was completely broken so door swung open every time. Room was ok. Found three bugs during my stay. Two dead next to the lamp right next to the bed. One crawling on the sink counter while I brushed my teeth. Very gross looking stain in the tub and bathroom floor. Fine for a one night stay but I wish I had paid a little more for a nicer place.

The receptionist is very nice, continental breakfast is pretty good. The room condition is bad.

Stayed at this hotel for 5 Days at end of Feb 2018. - The bed side lamps in the room were not functional and were taken apart. When checked with the staff, the answer was "We know, dont worry bout it, we just did not have enough time to fix it" - Next morning they ran out of Breakfast, and the hotel staff couldn't care less. When asked, the lady said, "it is what it is" - We noted that the Bathroom did not have towels, when we asked, they told us "we dont have any extra today, we will have some tomorrow" - The next few days were fine for us, just cause our expectations were too low now. - Overall a very disappointing stay and the hotel staff just did not seem to care enough! kept getting unsatisfactory replies from the staff, and just not up to expectations! Disappointed!

Upon check in, the staff was friendly and very helpful. The room was ok. We paid less than $90 and took our puppy with us and was only charged an additional $10 for one night. Location is great, property was decent. Room was clean, but some fixtures were a little "outdated" or old but I think it used to be a Travelodge. Place was not bad, considering what we paid for it. I would stay here again if we have our puppy. Thanks staff!

The hotel is in an ok location bordering an abandoned shopping mall and massive parking lots. There were a few broken sliding door windows on the first floor of the hotel in building two. They have made an effort to update the hotel, which I appreciate, but painted sheep can only go so far. The room was adequate but a bit musty, and the shower was luke warm at best. I was looking for an affordable place to stay near the city, and this was definitely that. That said, I had hoped to be pleasantly surprised by how nice it was, and this was not the case.

It wa such a comfortable experience. It was my first time staying at a hotel with my dog and it was so convenient having a sliding door to take him outside.

The parking area is the most concerning, NOT well illuminated; park your car close to your room. There are a few homeless living in their cars parked there and non-guests walking around outside like zombies. It's eerily quiet. The most noticeable thing was how there weren't that many guests to begin with (we drove around the parking at 8pm and then again at 1am from finishing our sightseeing) there were only 4 cars aside of the two vehicles parked in front who I assumed were the workers.. and yet they put the few guests received in the SECOND BUILDING. THE CREEPY BUILDING-- There weren't any sheep decor in the second building and no ice maker. The main building with reception is cutely decored and has an ice maker and area to sit/eat but there weren't any guests in there. It was very disappointing that they didn't accommodate their guests in the nicer building. Upon checking in, I had a redeemable coupon via Yelp for a free sheep toy and they said that the stuffed animals were locked away in the main office and would have to wait till the manager or whoever returned the next day. SHE PROMISED "We will make sure you get your stuffed animal during our housekeeping hours" I was happy~ However they didn't send a sheep toy and it might be silly to be upset about it but I was looking forward to it and they just took that away. I asked again during breakfast and she said I couldn't have it as they now don't honor that promotion and has to be via Instagram to redeem the toy. FFS!

Cute hotel. Staff was great! A little far from downtown but not terrible.

Quirky little place. Room was very clean. We did not get to the tacos in time. They were gone by 7:30am. Cannot beat the price! We didn't bring any dogs this time but we will be back because it is a pet friendly place.

For a quick stay, it is ok. There is not much around in the surrounding area. First hotel I have stayed at that had no washcloths or soap in the room. There is a nice breakfast in the morning, but otherwise it is nothing special.

Small, quirky and fun place...helpful staff ..Fun breakfast with hot burritos. Travelling alone, I felt safe on the first floor.

The Highlander pretty much speaks of what Austin prides itself on, that being personality. The room was large and clean. The bed was pretty much average. The rooms have direct parking lot access through patio doors which is nice or not depending on your views. The Highlander, like much of Austin, is pet friendly which is always a plus. One very SERIOUS plus is that the hotel has a local taqueria bring in breakfast tacos. Those tacos are worth the price of admission alone. I had two. WiFi service was reliable and fairly speedy. The only detraction I can really speak of is that the rooms are a bit dark. Which is fine for sleeping but makes working a bit difficult. That and they had the basic horrible cable television that so many hotels have.

Very clean hotel. Comfy. They have a no party policy which I loved. One downside though... you guys need more sheep.

The rooms were comfortable and nice, and I liked the pink sheep everywhere. Staff was friendly.

Can't beat the perks of a free breakfast and a gym onsite. However, I wish this hotel was closer to all the hustle and bustle of the downtown Austin area!

Rooms are big and clean. Only negative was the lack of ventilation in the bathrooms.

Really nice staff ... Location convenient to the city.

The 3-star rating is way off the mark. This is a poorly renovated motel that is trying to pass off as a hip/boutique hotel. When I walked in, I noticed that the paint was peeling off the doors and door jams. The patio door faced a road and didn't have any railing or separation from the road or parking lot. The poorly tinted window on the patio was peeling off. I had just stayed at a 2 1/2 star hotel the night prior that was in better shape and had better amenities than this hotel. There isn't even an iron or ironing board in the room (only comes in deluxe rooms). What kind of 3-star hotel doesn't have an iron and ironing board? My toilet didn't flush correctly. I had to move the handle around until it didn't sit in the "flush" position so the tank could fill up. Here's the worst part: if you are placed on the first floor, you will hear every step on the second floor. You will hear every phone conversation. You will hear every opening and closing of the patio door. I had the people above me stomp around at late into the night. I have to say, staff quickly addressed the situation, but that doesn't fix the structural insufficiencies of the floor and walls. You would be better served looking at a 2 1/2 star hotel in the area...since that's what you will be getting with this hotel. I felt like I was cheated by staying here.

We had a great stay. It was our first time in Austin and this was a great swanky hotel to stay at. The staff was so friendly, it had an awesome breakfast, the bed was so comfortable and every room was large and has its own balcony. If I could complain about anything it would only be the shower. For some reason once you have soap on your feet you start slipping and sliding. I almost fell out of the shower on our last night but luckily there was a handle in the shower that kept me from falling all the way out. They could probably use some grips on the tub or something but other than that we had an awesome stay. Oh and of course you can't miss the pink sheep!

Jacqui, So sorry about the tacos! We will do our best to make sure that we have more in the mornings! Please do bring your pups on the next visit! Our hotel dog, Sloane, would love to meet them.
