Don’t stay here!
The clerk was nice enough during check in but, like always, there were no luggage carts and he wasn’t willing to go find one for me. It’s the clerks job to make sure they get returned. I had to go find one myself. When I entered the hallway to my room, a terrible stench punched me in the nose. It was a mixture of mildew, filth, cheap fried food and marijuana. The hallway carpets and walls were dirty and there was dirty laundry laying everywhere. The room itself wasn’t an improvement. The only positive thing is the a/c actually works great but the room hadn’t been cleaned, the cable didn’t work and the mattress was a slab of lumpy concrete. Only one light bulb worked in the entire room and of course the clerk said they don’t have extra bulbs. The walls and ceiling are very thin and the other guests are quite loud. When I parked my car, I noticed that people had their windows and curtains open to fully display homosexual activity in one room and self gratification in another. When I advised the clerk, he acted like he didn’t really understand and had an “oh well” attitude about it. The shower curtain is positioned too close and when the shower is on, the curtain sucks in against your skin and I doubt they’ve ever washed those curtains. I’ve never stayed at a Red Roof so I had no idea that they are like this but it’s one of the only hotels in the Austin area that doesn’t double or triple on the weekends. Being on a business trip,I have to stay within budget but never again here.
