Nomads Auckland Backpackers

I have stayed in worse nomad properties in Australia but still. Location is great for the stray and kiwi bus pickups which is a selling point and it's cheap. Room was empty when arrived but still stunk of sweaty feet, blood specks on sheet and minimal plugs in room for 8 people. The kitchen is way too small for the amount of rooms and atleast half of the cooking hobs did not work. There were also lots of long termers living here. Thankfully for one night only

I have stayed here for more 4 nights in dorm room. The 3 first days were fine, but the fourth day (Saturday) was too noisy since there was a group of naughty guys moved in. There were drunk, swore all time, talked louder and kicked the doors many times as crazy and too rude. What the hell Nomad's staffs let them checked in with such alcohol and bad behaviors. It was terrible at that Saturday night, plus some mad cars and bars outside. I could not sleep any moment.

I was really impressed with my stay at Nomads. The staff were super helpful and friendly with any questions that I threw their way! I found the kitchen was fully equipped which is sometimes a worry at other hostels so that was a nice change :). The bathrooms were under construction but to me this showed that they are actively updating and improving the hostel which I thought was great. I've noticed a lot of people say there's no free wifi but they have a really cool little lounge area where they have free wifi everyday from 9am-6pm! Super comfy beanbags as well! This lounge area also serves as a travel shop where they were more than happy to recommend/help plan travel for not only Nz but Aus and SE Asia! Made things super easy for me, and I saved heaps as well! Added bonus - they have a sauna and an outside hot tub on the roof which is really cool at night when the city is all lit up! Would definitely stay again - thanks guys!

Great location in Auckland CBD, stone away from train station britomart and within walking distance to convenience store, restaurants, and shopping outlets. Staffs are nice and helpful. The room and toilet are clean, the bed is comfy. However, the wife is not free have to pay extra 4NZD/day.

Staffs are nice and helpful. Kitchen is located at the top floor and the view is quite good. The room is kind of clean and all with windows. However, free wifi is only available at the base floor inside a travel shop, well, it is better than nothing, but the signal of the free wifi really needs some improvement.

The building is close to the north of Auckland, near the harbor and close to britomart train station. Super convenient. It is really clean, including the showers and other public spaces. Laundry and dryer available for 4 NZD each. There is a kitchen upstairs with various cooking pans etc. which everyone can use. Staff is lovely. Towels can be rented for 5 NZD. Only negative: a bit expensive for a hostel, and wifi is not free (4NZD/day and 12 NZD/week).

Stayed in Nomads Auckland right in the CBD! Had a great time with the guys. Very friendly staff and helpful. Pretty clean for such a big hostel. Great views from the rooftop. They even have a hot pool and a spa! The location is perfect, close by everything pretty much which allowed me explore the city easily.

Stayed for 2 nights in a Private Double Room, bed was comfortable, good hot shower and the room was quiet, I had two nights of good rests. Location wise is excellent, you could find food in eateries nearby and it is just a short walk to anywhere in CBD. I will be back again!

Very good hostel, especially for the price, and the staff were helpful. I booked through the kiwi-e tour group. The travel store next door linked with the hostel was also really helpful. The hostel organised nights out also good and so was hostel membership if you want to stay at same hostel in other cities.

This location was booked as a part of a tour package, I would personally not book into here again. The plus: ensuite in 4-room dorm and location The cons: No internet! They advertise as free internet but this is only through a shop next door from 9-6. You can of course pay for internet vouchers. Space was small. Living area small for volume of guests and nothing was working. Staff ok but not the most professional I've come across. Seems to be a party hostel and given all the signage of the rules around I can only imagine this have previously caused issues.
